Trip Report One way or Another..........

It has been quite a few years since I've been to Disney for a full week. I've been there for a day here, two days there but I really missed a full week at Disney. When your first born says lets go to Disney, you make it happen. We just returned, and the best way for me to process getting back to regular life is to do a trip report, so here we go.

Me and Em
October 19-25th

Our flight was leaving at 7:00 am, and it made for a very early morning since we had a two hour drive to the airport. We got on the road at 3:30 and we landed at MCO around 9:30 am. We got an Uber, and Oster was great. He even slowed down so I could get this most coveted picture.

I let Em pick a lot of the details for this trip, one being the mistake of picking our resort. I was willing to pay for a moderate, but she really wanted to stay at POP. sigh~, what can I do..... She loves it

We requested the 60's or 70's building and got a room in the 70's. Our room was ready when we arrived around 10:30 am. Our room was on the first floor and faced an inner courtyard. Mostly quiet, except we could hear the room above us when they were getting ready in the morning or returning at night. They weren't rude or being overly loud. It's what you pay for I guess.

We unpacked and decided we'd rather hop on the skyliner and find lunch rather than go to Typhoon Lagoon. We got off at the Caribbean resort. Their Cuban sandwich wasn't too bad. I'd get it again. We then stopped at Riviera to see the murals in person and eat the "best" cookie at Disney.

I have to say, I didn't think the Riviera Signature cookie was the best cookie on property. I would give it a C.

Em has a fear of birds. This gets mentioned in all of my reports since there are birds everywhere at Disney. Luckily for her, this bird was quite a distance from us, but she made sure to point it out and comment about what it was doing. Then, to our horror, it snatched a little lizard for lunch.

Our early morning was catching up with us so we decided to go back to the room and take a break before heading to Disney Spring for the evening.

I love that Loungefly! I'm not even into them, or into pin trading, but I do have some pins l like on my park bag. You can tell that I’m equally fond of buttons as pins. 😁

I also have a cork picture frame that I picked up in the parks many years ago that I'm very fond of and have put to good use...

P.S., the teriyaki chicken bowl looks really good!

Ohhhh I love the idea of the cork frame!! I'm going to see if I can find one and steal that from you! Such great pins! Love the Marching Mickey and the Mad Tea Party pins!! I wouldn't trade those.:joyfull:

We left HS at 2:15 and waited for a bus to Animal Kingdom. The wait was less than I thought it would be. I was taking a photo in front of the Tree of Life at 2:49. After enjoying the beauty of Pandora we hopped on my favorite, most boring ride, Navi

We weren't ready to eat yet so there is no better way to pass the time then on a safari. The wait in line was minimal. The animal put on a great show and our safari driver was very well scripted and didn't miss anything. It just sounded too scripted. He also said "quickly" around 18 times.

Animal pictures you have seen, in no particular order.

Time for Satuli. I am a Hash girl, loved beef and chicken with the Hash bowl. Em said you have to try the noodles. I normally like noodles, but the hash.......🥰. But you know how daughters can be. I tried the noodles with chicken. SOooo good. I'll be having the noodles again. And yes! We had the kiwi margaritas again.

Em had developed a rash on her leg. As many times as I have drug us to the first aid centers in all the parks for Pepto tablets and tums tablets, I made her go to the first aid center for some hydrocortisone cream. They took one look at her and said, "Yep, you have Disney Rash". We seriously thought they were joking, they weren't. We googled it. They also didn't want to give her hydrocortisone cream because it was sunny out. (um, what!). They gave her Benadryl anti-itch cream.

One last thing for Animal Kingdom! FOP!

21.jpg

One last story. After our first aid visit and before heading to FOP we stopped into one of the stores to look around. They had a pinboard out and had a pin that I recognized one of the kids having. I thought for sure it was my son, but not completely sure. I asked EM, she said "wasn't me". I traded for it and sent a pic to my other two. They had no recollection of it. Later that night, when we were packing up, Em yelled and held up her pin lanyard from almost 20 years ago. There was that same pin. 🙄

13.jpg

After FOP we headed to the exit. The line for a bus to Epcot was quite long and we waited quite a long time. We got in line at 6:00 pm. and didn't arrive to Epcot until 6:50.

I got a pic of these beauties as we were walking out.

Yep, very familiar with the Disney rash. Poor Em. Aloe works to relieve pain and itch too.
With over 20k steps today, my lower legs were aching. I had developed a bad case of vasculitis - otherwise known as The Disney Rash. Google it if you’re interested. The discomfort was so intense I put a cool, wet towel across my legs as soon as we got back to the room.

View attachment 824593
The heat from my legs warmed and dried the towel quickly so I had to wet it down again, then slept with the covering for a little while.

But I had no regrets. The suffering was worth it. Em and I had an amazing time at MNSSHP.

We are on the last leg of our last day. Epcot! We've been to Epcot on three of our four park nights, and this was the first night we entered through the main entrance. I know Em likes POP because of the skyliner, but there is just something about entering through the main entrance instead of International Gateway. We entered at 6:50.

1.jpg

2.jpg

As we entered, a CM was outside of Spaceship Earth. We happened to be at the right place at the right time. They had just opened it up after being closed for refurbishment for a soft opening. Not many people noticed right away but it didn't take long for a line to form. It was then posted that they opened the next morning. I will say. Everything looked great but the track not so much and...... I seem to be missing something.

We both wanted to try the French Onion style dumpling soup at Gyozas of the Galaxy. This wasn't my favorite of mine but maybe it had something to do with me choking on the broth. I mean is it just me or as you get older do you choke on water, air, or saliva out of nowhere.

11.jpg

Em wanted to head back to Norway to get a drink she saw at Kringla Bakery a few nights before when we got the School Bread. The Viking Coffee. It doesn't look appetizing, but she said it was good.

I love China at night.

Hahaha, I'm kidding, I didn't get them a third time. We did get the South African Chocolate Liqueur Cream Mousse at the Refreshment Outpost.

13.jpg

We continued to walk around the World Showcase, and as we reached America we could hear a band playing. They were playing different covers and wouldn't you know it, as we were passing by, they were playing Head over Heels by @Darstarr's favorite band, Tears for Fears. I had to take a video of it and send it to her.

It's 8:20 and we are both pretty beat from a long but absolutely fun day. I have a mission. I wanted a drink. So we passed many a booth but nothing sounded good. We ended up going all the way to the front of World Showcase to Milled & Mulled for...... Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting. I don't have any more pictures but Em did take a video without me knowing while I was dancing and eating the cake.

We headed to the Skyliner and back to our room. We packed up and quickly fell asleep. What is it about the mattresses at Disney. I always sleep so good there. We had a 8:25 flight and took an Uber to MCO. Just in case you did not know, you can skip the TSA line at MCO. Just go to flymco.com and look for MCO Reserve. You can register up to 7 days before your flight, then when you get to MCO, just go to the MCO reserve line. Security took less than 5 minutes for us.

Opps... I forgot to add that after all the trip reports I've read and reading about bounce back offers, I finally decided to book one. I'm booked at Riverside at the end of next September! I also plan on making one or two of those crazy lady trips and fly in for a day and flying out. No one else in my family likes the idea, they say it sounds too exhausting.... me, I think it sounds like so much fun! I guess I'll be going solo!!

Thanks for reading.

I'm happy you enjoyed it. I love writing trip reports so I can go back and recall our trips. I think the costumes will be a must every trip now.

Awwww Darstarr

Thank you soooo much for sharing. Love the outfits you both put together. May have to give that a try. My problem would be picking which characters.

Oh man, I hate how long we wait for trips, and then how they are over so fast! Thank you for taking the time to report and bring us in on all of the fun. The outfits were so adorable to see, and must have been a blast to wear and get CM comments on 😍 I can't wait to hear all about the solo trip(s) and maybe we'll see each other there for one of them!

How do we all acquire this special talent?

When Em told me she was doing Lightning McQueen, I really wanted to change one of mine and to Fillmore. So easy to do and very obscure, but I had bits and pieces of my four outfits already, so I didn't switch. I still am a little bummed about that one.

RIGHT! The trips go by so fast, and then the Disney blues set in for a few weeks... Thanks so much for reading, you always say such sweet things.
