Well, with some fresh faces joining the competition alongside familiar ones, I think it might be fun to give some time to a practice prompt! Though there won't be any points this round, it's a chance to get your gears a-turning as you get into the mindset for this competition with some practice. Plus, it'll give me a chance to practice writing critiques.
Practice Prompt: Mary Poppins
Before we get the ball rolling on the main competition, I thought it might be good to give folks a chance to practice at making a pitch, particularly with this slightly unorthodox set-up. So, I’ll give you that chance with an IP that most armchair imagineers have probably thought about:
Mary Poppins.
Frankly, it’s kind of surprising that there has not really been major Mary Poppins representation besides meet and greets at any of the parks over the years, considering it’s probably the most beloved of Disney’s live-action films. You would think that making that sequel
Mary Poppins Returns would help spin the wheels a bit, but still nothing yet. I know Disney had announced some kind of attraction for the
United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot, but considering the economic hit and how they never even gave any details about the attraction, I’d bet they’ll just quietly shelve the project.
So, let’s run with that. Let’s imagine how the practically perfect nanny could be featured in the UK Pavilion.
-Prompt-
Pitch a method of implementing
Mary Poppins or
Mary Poppins Returns at the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot. It can be an attraction, a restaurant, whatever you wish.
-Rules-
Use only a single sentence to describe your idea. You may also use one image if you wish. The deadline is Sunday, December 13th, at 11:59:59 PM EST.
-Tips-
KISS – Keep is simple, silly! With only one sentence, you can’t get too detailed. Think of this as an elevator pitch.
-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it realistic?
Does it fit visually/thematically?
