Evilgidgit's Reviews - Practice Round!

The Redwood Retreat

View attachment 364230

This lounge is given a more intimate feel by being a series of smaller rooms each with a redwood finish for a natural feel.

Each room has its own large television hidden behind a painting of a natural landscape, a pool table, a couch, two recliners, a decorative bar (with a digital order screen to request drinks from the actual bar), a pinball machine on freeplay mode, and a jukebox.

The rooms all have a different theme for the decor that is based around a different "man cave" trope such as golf, fishing, hunting, video games, and poker.

Bonus

Gaston's Brew will be a version of LeFou's Brew made with hard apple cider and fireball to be an alcoholic version of the famous park treat similar to the idea behind Rum Spiked Dole Whips.

@Pi on my Cake - The cozy, redwood design instantly makes this a place that I'd like to hang out in if I were staying here. The tribute to the traditional American-based traditions of the "man cave" was a nice touch. Though, the bonus of including a Gaston-based drink slightly clashes with the American aesthetic.

The Limestone Hollow

View attachment 364279
The Limestone Hollow is a Pub whose walls are laced with Plants, lamps, and Limestone. The Hollow contains Recliners, a Bar, a Stereo Set, Bean Bags, a Tv, a Shuffleboard table, Dart Boards, a Foosball Table, a Poker table, a Pool table (as shown above), and an arcade cabinet of Street Fighter. Along with the before mentioned Plants & Lamps, the area also features a wide collection of Disney Memorabilia such as old Animation production cels framed up on the wall along with blueprints and sometimes small artifacts from old attractions.

@Tux - A very charming concept, the image providing gives a good impression (sidebar: who uses high chairs to play pool? XD). The animation production cels and attraction blueprints is a fantastic feature, and hooray for Street Fighter!

Gaston's Tavern
gaston_beer_1.jpg

Ever wanted to experience the scene from Gaston's Tavern in real life? Well now you can, guests will experience a true immersive experience in Gaston's Tavern, with cast members playing interactive games with the guests, such as singing Gaston's theme song. Guests may even encounter Gaston himself and do competitive activities with him, such as a push up competition.

BONUS
Gaston is a man who wanted to kill a beast, now you can eat the beast via Beastly Sandwiches: mini sandwiches chock full of various meats.

@TwilightZone - While I do appreciate an IP-themed room, this does feel a little too similar to Gaston's Tavern. A mancave sounds like a place to relax, and while being involved in a cast member-led experience sounds fun, not every guest may wish to participate. There are a lot of questions that could be asked about how such an event would occur? Would alcohol be provided? Would there be restrictions? What is the age range for such an event?

The Den
Best-Man-Cave-Ideas-To-Get-Inspired-thewowdecor-7.jpg

Wood paneled walls and sturdy hard wood floors welcome residents to The Den. Here, residents can catch the latest game on one of many televisions, enjoy a beer from a literal wall of drafts, or have a quick bite to eat before going out on their latest task. In addition, games such as foosball and billiards, vintage arcade cabinets, and a wall of guitars are available for residents' enjoyment.

Bonus
Enjoy the latest game while enjoying a Dark Woods Draft from the bar; a strong, heavy beer made exclusively for The Den.

@mickeyfan5534 - Looks like this could be a private suite attached to Rock 'n' Rollercoaster. Describes/personifies the quintessential mancave experience.

The VR Cave
View attachment 364809
As Golden Oak is an exclusive place full of exclusive (and expensive) expectations... why not a VR cave? Residents and their guests can book time in this fully-equipped VR installation straight from WDI, with programmable environments ranging from deep space to medieval castles to Disney locations all over the planet, all explorable for a walk, trek or just sightseeing.
A fully-stocked bar on the "reality" side of the room features drinks and "Bytes," small tapas-sized treats that go well with any libation.

@michmousefan - Certainly the most ambitious project seen so far, and very original. However, alcohol and a VR experience may not be the best combination.

The Sleek Cave
1411666190060.jpeg

The new Golden Oaks experience is the The Sleek Cave, where guests can feel fancy but at home at the same time. The furniture will be sleek with a white and black color scheme and fun games like Darts, 8 Ball, and Card Games for guests to play. The Sleek Cave is meant to bring a fancy feeling to guests, but also make it feel like you are watching a fun movie at home.

Bonus

The new snack coming to The Sleek Cave is the The Checkered Cookies which half of the shortbread cookie is dark choclate covered while the other half is milk chocolate covered.

@NateD1226 - Sadly the image does not work, but the description makes up for it with, well, a slick well-worded presentation. I want those cookies!

Disney's All-Star Resorts!

greats-resorts-all-star-movies-resort-disney-florida-disney-all-star-resort-jogging-trail-disney-all-star-resort-jogging-trail-map-disney-all-star-jazz-resort-disney-all-star-music-resort-jogging.jpg

Disney's All Star resorts are a set of value resorts close to Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. There are 3 All Star resorts; All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, and All-Star Movies. All of which opened in the mid-to-late 90's. These resorts are different than most other resorts on WDW property because they're not one big building like a regular hotel, but rather split up into several themed courtyards with small hotels around it, along with some kind of themed element in the center (stuff like pools and playgrounds). However, the resorts have seen little change since opening, until now!

Your goal is to create a new hotel courtyard for ANY of the All-Star Resorts!

You can only choose 1 of the All-Stars to expand. Be sure to tell about what will go in the courtyard, study up on the ones already there!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 picture. The deadline will be at 9:30 PM WDW Time (6:30 PM Disneyland time) on Sunday, April 21. Reviews will come after that.

-Bonus-
Disney is looking to expand the Skyliner in the future, and they plan to have a station at the All-Stars. Name another place the Skyliner expansion will go in a separate sentence!

-Tips-

K.I.S.S - Keep it simple, silly. Try not to over complicate or over think things too much. Focus on the big picture. Don't miss the forest for the trees. All that good stuff.

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good Luck everyone! Have fun! Go create!

As always, anyone is welcome to join in. Newcomers, veterans, anyone who wants to propose an idea!

The Mighty Duck Pond
streatham-hub-ice-arena.png

The next courtyard at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be themed to hockey! The outdoors will have light Mighty Ducks (1992) and Donald themes.. but the real magic is inside a large central atrium, which hosts an ice skating rink! Though hockey itself is not played, the rink cycles between a traditional ice skate and a “puck practice” where you practice moving and shooting the hockey puck. This upbeat recreational “pond” will be loved by all!

Bonus: The Skyliner will be expanded through Caribbean Beach to Typhoon Lagoon (roughly the same distance as Pop Star-DHS) and this line could possibly be expanded to DisneySprings in the future.

Country Courtyard
365885

Currently, All Star Music's Country Fair section is in a bit of a rut; not much action goes on around here. That is why Disney will be introducing a true "country fair," right in the heart of the section. This "country fair" will host an outdoor seating area with a stage that will be host to a number of live bands singing country songs, an outdoor bar themed to a saloon, and a kids' playground equipped with swings, a slide, and jungle gym; there's bound to be action here!

Bonus: Once the Skyliner is open, Disney will not only expand to the All Star Resorts, but it will also go on to expand to Animal Kingdom; you'll enter via PANDORA: The Land of Avatar, and will be welcomed as if you are beings from far-off places.

Atlantica
365900

Atlantica is a part of Disney's All Star Movies Resort, and is a Courtyard based off of The Little Mermaid. The front of the Courtyard has a large-scale replica of Atlantica in front of it from the Movie itself of course, and has a statue of Ariel posing on a rock in front of the building itself. Outside of the building you have Splash Pads based on the Concert Hall from the movie, adding onto the pre-existing Fantasia Pool.

BONUS: The Skyliner will be expanded to be in Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland, much like the now defunct Skyliner in Disneyland Anaheim.

An Expansion to All Star Movies
tangled-port-tokyo-disneysea-expansion.jpg
Tangled is the newest expansion to Disney's All Star Movies Resort. Featuring a large courtyard with Rapunzel's Tower and a statues of characters from the film, this new area is made up entirely of family suites and will be located between the Fantasia and Toy Story areas with the road being rerouted to allow for the new area to be built. A themed pool will sit in the shadow of the tower, creating a relaxing and beautiful area for guests.

Bonus: The Skyliner will be expanded to Disney Springs to allow for easy access to shopping, dining, and entertainment nonpareil for guests staying at Skyliner resorts.

Herbie's Tune-Up Center
366791

Herbie's Tune-Up Center infuses the "winner's circle" courtyard area with a new vigor. Six fun, automotive-themed fitness station areas encircle the "track" around a new healthy-menu food kiosk, featuring smoothies, gatorade and light, healthy, fitness-forward snack options. The jogging trail at the front of the resort will feature an extension here, making it a great start/stop or halfway point for a run amongst the three All-Star properties.

Bonus: The Skyliner will have a central stop at the Movies Resort, part of the line that connects Animal Kingdom to Blizzard Beach, Coronado Springs and DHS.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Courtyard

1a_Cherry-tree-Lane-Illustration-Summer-Eva-Kuntz_20181220104059__2f7fe0ab.jpg

In an effort to help distinguish All Star Movies from the Art of Animation Resort, all future expansions will focus on live action films with an eventual plan to remove and retheme current courtyards based on cartoons.

This will start with two new buildings centered around a new Courtyard based on the most iconic live action Disney film: Mary Poppins.

One building will be themed to the original with a large penguin waiter statue and the other will be themed to Mary Poppins Returns with a large penguin tap dancer statue and in between will be a Courtyard full of cherry trees, chalk drawings, and an outdoor stage for live music.

Bonus

A new, seperate skyliner route will be added connecting the All Stars, Blizzard Beach, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Animal Kingdom with plans to connect it to the original skyliner path in the future.

Monster's Inc & More Come to the All-Star Movies Resort!

366830

A new Monster's Inc inspired addition, situated right next door to the Toy Story Hotel, will open with two gigantic statues of Mike and Sulley at the entrances to the two buildings and new Monster's Inc inspired doors & hotel rooms to fully immerse guests.

In addition to the instagrammable photo ops throughout the area and monster's around the hotel, the highlight is sure to be the new Monster's Inc Door Factory water structure (sponsored by Monster's University), with themed doors as railings throughout, colorful water slides and even a gigantic bucket themed as a screen can, dumping water on guests.

In addition to expanding by adding an Incredibles themed hotel, the hotels themed to movies that have not withstood the test of time will be replaced with hotels themed to The Incredibles (replacing The Love Bug), transforming the hotels into Metroville with a themed interactive playground in the center of it all, and a hotel themed to Up! (replacing The Mighty Ducks) transforming the hotels & pool area into the tropical jungles of Paradise Falls.

Bonus: The Art of Animation & Pop Century Skyliner route will be expanded with two more stops added on, one at the All-Star Movies Resort and the last one at the Animal Kingdom, allowing for all 3 lines from the Caribbean Beach hub to direct you to a theme park.

I find the ice skating rink to be really unique! Although it would be a little weird for a value resort. My main gripe with this one is that the All-Star Movies already has a Mighty Ducks courtyard, so it would be weird and confusing if they were to make this. Also, it seems like there are no real rooms in this one (which wasn't my intention, a lot of people didn't have rooms, it's fine, I should have elaborated better.)
