Magic Kingdom:
SHARING THE DREAM

View attachment 317169
“Sharing the Dream” is a five- minute projection show presented fifteen minutes before the main evening entertainment show using the Castle as the screen. Using a mixture of vintage photos (black-and-white, colorized and colored), archival film and the classic narration-style that Disney has perfected, the underappreciated importance of Roy Disney to the very existence and form of the Walt Disney World Resort is presented to the “captive” audience, one that might not be interested in the show by itself but will now be “edutained” in the classic Disney style. Roy Disney was the force behind the creation of Walt Disney World from the dreams of his brother, dreams that Roy Disney shared, guided and molded into reality, always keeping the hopes of his brother alive and sharing those dreams with the world.

Epcot:
THE DREAM LIVES ON
Using a mixture of water screen projections, lasers and fireworks, “The Dream Lives On” presents to thousands of Epcot visitors nightly the evolution of Epcot from the seminal “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” into “Epcot Center” and finally into its present form, with the visual effects, lighting and fireworks growing in complexity to show the growth and never-ending evolution of Epcot guided by the dreams of the Disney brothers.

Magic Kingdom bonus:
A remixed, resized, edited and slightly expanded version of “Sharing the Dream” will be shown at the Disneyland Resort, using Sleeping Beauty Castle as the screen with additional footage added to show how Roy Disney’s enthusiasm to bring his brother’s dream to the world led to the expansion of a single park, Disneyland, into the world-renowned Disneyland Resort.

Epcot bonus:
“The Dream Lives On” will be presented in the Fantasmic viewing area, with editing similar to that done for “Sharing the Dream” to include how the creation of Epcot led to the expansion of Disneyland to include DCA and possible future additions to the Disneyland Resort.
As you said, Roy Disney is underappreciated. He is the man who basically formed Walt Disney World as it would be today. As much as I love all the visual effects that would be going on, I just feel that this show may be a little short, only for what you're presenting. I can imagine a famous person coming from the speakers blasting Roy Disney's life and impact he had on Walt Disney World and Walt Disney himself. I think this is very well presented, but just falls short of time.

Bonus: A very nice, simple, and cheap second version of the original. +1

I enjoy how both of these proposals have the word "dream" in them. Walt had a very special dream and Roy, well he basically brought it all to formality. I can only imagine that this show would be fantastic and would live up to its parent show, IllumiNations. Water screen projections always puzzled me, but it would be a great thing to bring over from the Rivers of Light. I just feel that I should know a little more than what you're giving me. Again, I can wrap my head around the basics of it, I just really want to know a little more. Overall, fantastic job!!

Bonus: Another simple and cheap way to bring something to Disneyland in Anaheim. +1

Ode to Roy Disney, the Wish Weaver
3738149fb0b9300b0c67f455461db726.jpg

Main Street Cinema in Magic Kingdom is revived, complete with a brand new 20-minute presentation celebrating the life, achievements, and support of Roy O. Disney. The new sit-in theatre's show looks back on Roy (and Walt's) life, helping his brother to build their little studio, and the repeated support in his brother's projects - Mickey Mouse, Snow White, Disneyland, and the Florida Project (includ. Epcot), the show featuring Roy's complete speech and dedication of Walt Disney World when it opened in 1971. But, the presentation doesn't end there, but goes on, showing the development of WDW and Epcot, and how Roy's son, Roy E. Disney, continued his father's commitment to Disney.

Bonus - The show is moved from Magic Kingdom to Disneyland, seasonally replacing Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln.

EPCOT - A Legacy of Tomorrow
pcm341388large.jpg

Replacing IllumiNations is a brand new spectacle that mixes colourful fireworks, World of Colour-esque water projections, and iconic soundtracks to pay homage to Epcot. It is split up through three acts - the first to the Florida Project and Epcot's original incarnation, complete with clips of Walt's Epcot promo video; the second is to Future World, particularly the original line-up of attractions (Spaceship Earth, World of Motion, Universe of Energy, The Living Seas, The Land, Kitchen Kabaret, Journey Into Imagination, and of course, Horizons); the third act is dedicated to World Showcase, with legitimate cultural music and theming rather than just it to show off Disney IP. There would be unique, individual water effects going on around the lake, creating the opportunity to re-watch the show from different angles.

Bonus - The fireworks display moves to Disneyland Paris to keep the water effects in play, but with alterations, and serves as an international celebration of the Disney parks.
I believe that Disney cancelling the Main Street Theater project was the worst thing. Here, a 20-minute show would fit. There are a few plot-holes in this though. How will it be presented? Pictures, projections, etc. Also, how will it be narrated? I do enjoy how you're presenting this and it's truly dedicated to Roy and what he did to shape The Walt Disney Company. Lastly, I think that bringing back the theater is a little much for this one show, especially on the grand scale it was meant to be on. Anyways, you did a wonderful job.

Bonus: Seasonally replacing Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln wouldn't exactly be realistic, but this isn't reality... is it? +1

I'm going to say this with the utmost respect for love of the Epcot cultural aspect: If Epcot did do this, Act 3 WOULD show off all the Disney IPs. Actually, this is a very well thought out proposal, it blends the fun of Epcot and Disney and Epcot's educational vision together. This almost feels like your just bringing over World of Color to Epcot and re-theming it to the life and times of Roy Disney. That isn't a necessarily bad thing. However, the last thing I want to say is... I love how you're bringing in the original aspects of Epcot, in other words, the heart of what Epcot is supposed to be. Props to you on this proposal!

Bonus: Another simple, but creative, way to put something into another park and simply touching it up! +1

Ralph and Vanellope: Breaking Epoct

Join Ralph and Vanellope as they travel through the internet to teach you the history of Epcot with the fun fireworks and breathtaking water projections! The duo take you to Wikipedia to find hsitory, VR of Epcot itself, ride a few rides with them, and so much more! I think the IP based and history tech vibe of Epcot will mash well together, so join Vanellope and Ralph in Breaking Epcot!

Coming Soon 2020

Bonus: Using the show space of Fantasmic, the characters of Wreck It Ralph come to life in an all new (keeping silimar to the prompt) show to give you secrets and history of Disneyland Anaheim!
This is probably really late but..

This new show that takes place right by the entrance takes you on a fun and imaginative adventure with Jill. She was a young girl when Roy opened Walt Disney World and will give you and fun and interactive show/tour right down Main Street! She will show you the smallest crack to the big castle with many facts and pictures in her bottomless satchel!

As much of a Wreck-it-Ralph fan I am, I really don't think this would fit with Epcot. I am not hating on this proposal at all, I just think that it could be put in another park. I think it would be interesting to have the duo in water and firework form, it'd be something new for them, and this would make up for the ridiculous Sugar Rush VR experience in Tomorrowland. How would we have Epcot in VR, we can't hand thousands of headsets to everybody! This was a very nice go at the prompt, something that is totally out of the box than what I expected, so nice job!

Bonus: Ooh, we're spilling the tea on Disneyland California! +1

Oh no, no points will be taken off for this one. I'm assuming that Jill is a made up character? Or is she someone that really existed? This almost reminds me of a promotional/informational video on Disney, giving a little history and facts about the park. That is a really different and new route that Disney would take if they actually made this. I would like to know how this would be interactive, too! I think that you could expand on a few things, on both prompts, and use the three sentences wisely, not to say that you didn't here. Great work!!

Bonus: No bonus.

MAGIC KINGDOM
Coming in 2021, just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary, a new multimedia show titled “The Florida Project” will begin shows in the Fantasyland Theatre, temporarily replacing the fan favorite Mickey’s PhiliarMagic for the time being.

This new show will combine screens, animatronic show scenes and live actors, as well as a few characters here and there as we go through the evolution of the Florida Project, as we go through the different stages of Walt and Roy Disney’s journey through this world changing project being built.

Featuring an animatronic Walt Disney as your narrator, “The Florida Project” will use screens, animatronics and live actors to take you through scenes representing the first stages of Disneyland, the announcement and planning of The Florida Project, Walt Disney death and Roy’s decision to continue, the birth of Walt Disney World, opening day, Roy’s Death and ending with a video montage of Walt Disney World from 1971 to present and its impact on the world.

Bonus: This show will also be replicated in Disneyland’s Opera House to premiere to guests since this is Walt Disney’s home park.

EPCOT
Coming in 2019, a new nighttime spectacular will open on the World Showcase Lagoon combining live actors, practical sets, drones, fireworks and fountains to make a jaw-dropping show to show you the evolution of Epcot through Walt’s eyes, and its journey to the present day.

The show will be titled “Horizons” as both a throwback to the classic ride and as it follows the theme of the show since you will look at both Epcot’s past and the future of Epcot.

It will begin with the announcement of the Florida Project, and take you through the evolution of Epcot through Walt’s eyes, before showing you how Epcot evolved to what it is now, including a teary eye finale using live actors and performers on boats (like Fantasmic) to showcase all the pavilions represented from Epcot’s past, present and future.

Bonus: This new nighttime spectacular will replace Fantasmic at Disneyland Park, but will be transformed to be use the effects available at the Rivers of America such as the Mark Twain Riverboat and the Sailing Ship Columbia.

Not sure if you forgot about my submission, I saw you skipped over it 😬. Take your time though, no pressure!

I think this is one of the better things to do, replace a show that has a couple of fans, temporarily, to show the effects that Roy had on Walt's decisions. It would be interesting to see live actors and animatronics at the same time. The live actors would be switched out, I assume? I would love to see the Walt animatronic in his full glory, narrating what happened to him and how his brother continued the legacy. If I remember right, though, does that building have an actual stage for live actors to be on? Hmm, nice work!!

Bonus: It is Walt's home park, after all! +1

This show just gave La Nouba something to cry and return about. This sounds like a very fun show that would be eye-popping for any age. I love how you're naming it "Horizons" as a throwback to a ride I sadly never saw, and a ride that I know changed Epcot in a big way. The idea of live actors is very intriguing, and having them on floats across the water would open the door to so many opportunities! Overall, you have done a great job explaining the proposals. Very nice!!

Bonus: Mmm, replacing Fantasmic is a bit risky, but it would be interesting to see how it plays out. +1

Prompts 1 and 2 Results!

If you don't know, the awards ceremony will work a little differently. The awards will be mixed together, so projects 1 and two will have their ceremonies combined.

Each and every one of you did an amazing job with this prompt. From out of the box creations to to-the-point proposals, it was a very tough conclusion.

Challenge 2
Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom

overhead.jpg

As we begin the Double Trouble of the season finale, we will be travelling to Walt Disney World. This means Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom

-Background Information-
Magic Kingdom and Epcot opened in 1971 and 1982, respectively. Each was a vision to Walt, and each became a reality thanks to his brother. Without Roy Disney, Walt Disney World would not be a thing. Even though we owe Uncle Walt a big thank you, we should also pay our respects to Roy Disney.

-Challenge-
Hollywood Studios:
For this challenge, create a replacement Broadway-style show for Beauty and the Beast. It could be original, or it could be from any other Disney IP.

Animal Kingdom: Dinoland has always been the sore thumb of this park, so re-create it with a better style and detailing. Make sure to keep it to the theme of dinosaurs.

-Bonus-
Hollywood Studios:
If you really want to go all out with the Broadway, create overlays for one of the big holidays. It could be Halloween, Christmas, or any other big holiday. Keep it within one sentence or less to get you an extra bonus point.

Animal Kingdom: In one sentence or less, take the Finding Nemo theater and create a show including dinosaurs.

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 5 sentences and up to 1 image. For the bonus you may use 1 sentence. The deadline is Friday, October 12, 2018 at 8:59 PM EST. Critiques will come shortly after, with Challenge 1 being posted at 11:59 PM EST.

-Tips-

K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-

Is it creative?
Does it accomplishes everything within the challenge guidelines?
Is it realistic?

-Reminders-
Okay, we are already to challenge 2. Time really is going by fast. All of you have had great submissions, so keep up the good work!

DHS - Enchanted the Musical
open-uri20150422-12561-ms34bn_c52bad8d.jpeg

In this new show, the cult classic movie, Enchanted will be recreated with new jokes, songs, and great sets. There will be an effect similar to mickey and minnie's runaway railway where the show will seamlessly transition from the animated fairytale world to the real world. Many scenes will be cut and some story elements changed, but overall, this new play will be a hit with everyone in the family, especially ones who love princesses.
BONUS: The Christmas overlay will be presented as a sequel of the movie, showing how both couples spend their new lives, and Christmases, in their worlds.

DHS - Captain America Live!
maxresdefault.jpg

Coming to Hollywood Studios is an IP never used in Disney World (because its not allowed, but let's ignore that cuz I love it), especially not in a way this unique.

Captain America: Live will transfer guests back to the 1940s when Captain America was going around the country selling war bonds for World War II, as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger.

The show will feature several musical numbers taken from the movie (Star Spangled Man from TFA and a variation on Home of the Brave from his movie in 1990), and will tell the story of Captain America fighting the Red Skull and saving Bucky Barnes, all while he sublimely tries to sell us war bonds.

BONUS: For July 4th, Captain America: Live will feature real military personal.

Animal Kingdom - Dinosaur Continent

Dinoland USA needs to differentiate itself from Jurassic Park in every way, so the backstory of the land will need to be changed from we bring the dinosaurs to you to we bring you to the dinosaurs.

In this lands new backstory, an institution discovers time travel and they set up tours to past ages for current mankind to spectate history, and they chose to bring people back to the age of the dinosaur.

This land features many smaller attractions, which have realistic theming, and it features a large EMV where we ride on the backs of the triceratops and run through the countryside

BONUS: Finding Nemo will be .a new show inspired by The Good Dinosaur.

Hollywood Studios - The Legend of Hercules
170339_hercules.jpg

From the far away land of ancient Greece, comes an epic retelling of the legendary Hercules, in a brand new 45-minute muse-ical that goes the distance. An adaptation of the 1997 film, the musical takes a few liberties with the movie's story for the sake of pacing, but would include all of the beloved characters and gospel songs from the movie. It would take inspiration from the Conan the Barbarian show that was at Universal Studios Hollywood, with a lot of Lion King-style visual effects, puppetry, and costumes, with the theatre exterior and foyer being reimagined as a Greek temple.

Bonus - Ancient Greece doesn't exactly blend with modern day holidays, so in this festive spin-off of the musical, Hercules and friends are celebrating Dionysia, a celebration of the wine god Dionysus held in Athens, often with Greek tragedies and parades for entertainment.

...

Animal Kingdom - Dinoland
6a01156e4c2c3d970c0192ab6359ef970d-pi

Dinoland is completely re-themed, save the Boneyard, Restaurantosaurus, and the Triceratops spinner (redesigned as a "Pterodactyl flight model" spinner), the land is now set around circa the 1910s, around an extensive digsite and paelontology laboratory run by S.E.A. agents Professor F. Ossil and Dr. Hollis. Countdown To Extinction returns with a new script, involving the time travel element but now the scientists are merely experimenting, sending guests back in time to the Cretaceous just as a volcano erupts, the ride ending with the guests' vehicle getting actually chased by the Carnotaur. Replacing the Primeval Whirl area is Extinction Flumes, a Splash Mountain-sized log flume ride that takes guests to prehistoric Florida, encountering various Ice Age beasts, early man, and natural selection at its finest.

Bonus - Replacing the Nemo musical is the BBC's Walking With Dinosaurs arena spectacular, with the theatre now becoming an arena, with the show taking place in the middle rather than on a frontal stage.

DUMBO the MUSICAL

1539091504023.png
Rumors have spread for years about Disney Theatrical Productions creating a live stage show based on their Oscar-winning 1941 animated classic film Dumbo. Advances in stage technology have finally made flying an elephant on stage possible, and the rich, Oscar-winning film score, delightful characters and colorful location of the film will fill the Theater of the Stars with such musical film classics as “Pink Elephants on Parade”, “Casey, Jr.” and the Oscar-nominated Best Song, “Baby Mine.” Audiences will witness a full traveling circus being assembled on stage during a thunderstorm, a flock of crows (actually called a “murder,” but this is Disney after all) singing “When I See an Elephant Fly,” and most spectacularly of all, Dumbo himself flying not just around the stage but actually over the audience itself. Dumbo the Musical, heading from the Big Top to Broadway, but playing daily at Disney Hollywood Studios, bringing this classic Disney film to “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” for years to come.

Bonus:
WALT DISNEY’S VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY PARTY
June 5th is celebrated not just at Hollywood Studios, but throughout the entire Disney universe as “Walt Disney’s Very Merry Unbirthday Party,” with special treats available, a special fireworks spectacular and an all-night party to celebrate Walt’s half-year birthdate (to avoid it being lost in the Christmas festivities of the actual date, December 5th).

Animal Kingdom:

PRIMEVAL WORLD- Brought to you
By
PROFESSOR LUDWIG VON DRAKE
Professor Ludwig von Drake, Donald Duck’s brilliant but eccentric uncle, has taken over the management of Dinoland and has transformed it into a huge laboratory for his studies of time travel and the primeval world of Dinosaurs. Every attraction has been transformed by him into an experiment for the professor to learn more about these creatures that ruled the earth millions of years ago. Dinosaur is now a time machine used to bring examples of dinosaurs forward in time to the present, where he can study them. The former TriceraTop Spin is now Pteradon Twirl, where the aerodynamics of several species of Pteradons are studied (since Professor Von Drake learned that triceratops couldn’t actually fly); Primeval Whirl has been replaced with Stegachase, a steeplechase-type attraction where Stegosaurs and other herbivores race against Velociraptors and other carnivores to learn how they survived, and the Boneyard has been expanded as new varieties of dinosaurs have been discovered. The former Restaurantosarus is now the Professor’s Lunch Box, a buffet with Carnivore and Herbivore serving lines.

Bonus:
DINOSONGS

1539091615319.png
“Dinosongs,” an original musical, tells the story of how Professor Ludwig Von Drake, along with the equally eccentric Professor Ludwig Von Goof (yes, he really does exist) and his nephew Goofy, stumble into Professor Ludwig’s time machine and are transported back to the Primeval Era, meeting the characters of the Disney released-film “Dinosaur” and enlist their help in returning to the present, using live actors, state-of-the-art theatre special effects and “Walking With Dinosaurs” technology in a family-friendly spectacle of song, dance and dinosaurs (with a few lemurs thrown in)!
