The Muppets Take Hollywood

View attachment 272070

Having already been apart of Hollywood Land, the Muppets are back, with a bang!

The first attraction will be the return of MuppetVision 3D to the Sunset Showcase Theatre where it belongs (with a new, updated show featuring more Muppet characters including Walter from the 2011 reboot).

The Hyperion Theatre will get the facade redone to look like the El Capitan Theatre (Or Muppets Theatre as seen above) and replacing the Frozen Show will be a live-action Muppets Show themed similarily to the telethon seen in the film!

With GotG - Mission: Breakout becoming part of a Marvel Land, Hollywood Land is missing an E-ticket attraction; which will be fixed by replacing Mike and Sulley to the Rescue and Stage 17 with a scrapped attraction idea in The Great Muppet Movie Ride where the Muppets lead guests through a Muppets re-creation of many classic Hollywood films.

Lastly, replacing the Studio Catering Co. (and area) will be a replica of PizzeRizzo with actual good Italian food :)p) to have a QS in the area with indoor and outdoor seating.

Bonus: In honour of A Bugs Land closing and Disney loving to capitalise on closing attractions (ala GMR or UoE), A Heimlich Chew Chew Train car will be changed to go down the red car trolley tracks from Buena Vista Street all the way to the entrance of the A Bugs Land.

Also, went back and finished my post.

Thank you @pixie_princess for the idea for the bonus but I think I will go with the bonuses don't count as part of the project so I can have some more fun with them :p

CRITIQUES

Before we review the Practice Prompt Proposals, we would like to say how impressed we are with everyone's proposals! They are all really great!

Every single proposal was unique in their own way, but remember, only three really stood out to us.

A note from DisneyForever - I'm sorry that I wasn't active at all for the Practice Prompt, but I will do my best to be active for the rest of the competition! Good luck to you all and I cannot wait to see what you all come up with next!

@AceAstro - Muppets Thru Outer Space!!!

Disneylover152: I have a different point of view of the theme of Disneyland’s Tomorrowland than most people. I believe that Disneyland’s Tomorrow is an intergalactic spaceport. A spaceport, where inhabitants of the Galaxy have stopped on Earth. Sort of like a rest stop for the galaxy. You continue my personal feel on Tomorrowland’s theme. I love how you are including The Muppets, such an underrated group, in the theme parks. There is not enough of them! Star-Tours is such a family favorite and adding the Muppets would bring more family on the ride, as well as bring nostalgic Muppet-fans on the ride. Plus, who doesn’t like the humor of the Muppets?

DisneyForever: The whole Muppets in space thing sounds like it would be a fun-filled yet action packed, comedy-based yet storytelling ride using a Star Tours simulator, and I love it! I’m sure Sam the Eagle will have a lot to say if Gonzo is flying it! Having guests travel to the moon and back via a simulator makes me wonder if you got some of your idea from Rocket to the Moon from Tomorrowland way, way back. Overall, the project seems really fun, and the attraction

Both: Your project is creative, bringing the Muppets into their own space in Disneyland Park, but not trying to shoehorn them in like Pixar Pier. You make the most of your sentences alloted, and I 100% understand what your plans are for Star Tours. This project is really realistic, as all that's needed is to retheme the queue, the simulators, and place a new projection in. While the Muppets don’t scream Aliens or Future, your ride idea does fit, with a little bit of a stretch. Muppets in space seems like something Disney might do. Hopefully we can have a cool facade for the ride! Adding the Muppets to Tomorrowland is very original, and effort is clearly shown.

Bonus: Mickey’s Philharmagic doesn’t fit Tomorrowland, but at the same time, does it fit Fantasyland either? It could fit Tomorrowland if you add some future technology for how Donald gets sucked into the movies, but I don’t see how it could fit with the movies chosen. Nevertheless, Bonuses are bonuses! +1.

@FireMountain - WALL-E’S JUNK FLIGHT!!!

Disneylover152: I was waiting for someone to add Wall-E to Tomorrowland, it is a perfect fit! Your Wall-E’s Junk Flight idea seems like a great new experience for Tomorrowland. It could also add some interesting theming elements outside the attraction as well as in the queue. A fun pre-show could also be added where you see Wall-E start up the space ship! Finger’s crossed for an animatronic Wall-E! Great first submission! I just wish you had more information.

DisneyForever:WALL-E, yes! WALL-E fits anywhere in a Tomorrowland. I never thought of using a simulation for a WALL-E attraction. Animatronic WALL-E, yes please. The whole idea of WALL-E finding a spaceship in a pile of junk makes sense. Ooh, I can’t wait to fly into huge pieces of trash, and hopefully the windshield wipers will come on, haha!

Both: The creativity is clearly shown, and it seems the idea is completely original. The detailing is thoughtful, but I’d like to know more. A lot more detail is needed next time. I can see WALL-E clearly coming in to Tomorrowland. The effort is 100% there.

Bonus: Yay! Dreamfinder and Figment! Wonder what this new film will be about. The future, imagination? It would be a good idea to specify next time. +1.

@v_k - The Grand Tour

Disneylover152: These posters remind me of the Discoveryland concept in Disneyland Paris. A non-IP ride in Tomorrowland flying around space is very similar to the original Tomorrowland of the 50s and 60s. You combined the past with the present very nicely. While space themed attractions like The Astro Orbiter isn’t futuristic anymore, humans exploring other places in the galaxy is futuristic. Humans haven’t gone beyond the Moon, and soon to be Mars. Great non-IP concept, that really fits Tomorrowland. Wish there was more.

DisneyForever: Wow, a no IP simulation ride! The posters scream to me “the future is today”! Ah yes, you’ve found the randomization to randomize the trips to places in the solar system. Maybe in the queue, those posters could be hung up on the walls. I feel that I need to know more. MORE!

Both: Next time, we’d like to know a bit more about your project, so we can get a feel of what the project is really about.

Bonus: Big Hero 6 and Tomorrowland are a round peg in a round hole. This concept reminds me as a spiritual successor to Innoventions, which makes me happy! +1.

@mharrington - Mission to Mars

Disneylover152: A great use of the Star Tours simulators! Mission to Mars was a classic attraction, and while it may get to the point of soon being dated, it seems like a fun attraction that could easily swap for a new mission since it is a screen-based ride. But until the people going on the Mars trip actually step foot on Mars, we are living the future with this ride! Great idea! More detail next time maybe!

DisneyForever:You’re doing great so far! I like how you are reinstating Mission to Mars back into Tomorrowland. I’d like to know how that would fit into a simulator. I imagine it being a somewhat bumpy ride with meteors and such along the way. To the passing of Stephen Hawking, we could incorporate him or what he did into the attraction somehow.

Both: Your project is creative and something Disney could build! With the recent passing of Stephen Hawking, maybe they would as a tribute. You filled your submission with not a lot of detail and the idea is not original, which hurts your submission a little, but effort is shown and it is a great submission!

Bonus: The Avengers fit better in Tomorrowland than in Hollywoodland, but Disney is keeping Marvel in Hollywoodland. Anyway, this sounds like a fun 4D show! +1.

@DisneyFan18 - Rift to San Fransokyo

Disneylover152: The first proposal where you are not flying through space! Very original. Flying through space is the first thing that comes to your head when you think of a simulator in Tomorrowland, but you went beyond and began traveling to the destination San Fransokyo. Great idea!

DisneyForever: How may you be of assistance? By blowing me away! Baymax is one of my favorite primary characters. I can see this attraction fitting right in with other attractions around the land, and the movie is basically about the future and the future of technology, so you’re headed in the right direction. I hope there would be a Baymax animatronic if this attraction ever came to fruition.

Both: A very original and creative option for the Star Tours simulator! I love how you are not flying through Space! Your submission is filled with detail and there is no question about if it fits thematically. I can also see the effort you put in this project.

Bonus: Stitch is a great fit for Tomorrowland! Next time please no images in Bonus! +1.

@spacemt354 - Adventure Thru The Human Body

Disneylover152: Body Wars was a great ride that fit the theme of Epcot! I’m not sure if it fits the theme of Tomorrowland, with the space port they currently have, but the great thing about humans is that we all have different points of views on everything! I like the idea of having Body Wars back, but would like it to be different. Very original idea to give new simulators, and I enjoy how you will be guiding yourself. It sounds like something that would have been added to Disney Quest. The thing is is that the Mission Space simulators aren’t a fan favorite, but your idea was a great idea! Something that I would ride!

DisneyForever: Adventure Thru The Human Body was a very well thought-out submission, yet it may be a bit too much like Body Wars to be “original”. The thought of it being in Tomorrowland is picking at my brain, because I don’t know if it should or should not fit into Tomorrowland. Also, I really like how you are changing to the Mission: Space cabins, as they are smaller and after all, we are shrinking down to get into the human body.

Both: Your submission is filled with detail, and this seems like a realistic project for Disney. You took Body Wars, and made it a more interactive experience with new simulators, but other than that, this seems like Body Wars 2.0. Not really original, but the new additions are creative and it is obvious that you put effort in.

Bonus: Star Wars being replaced by Star Wars! Sure... +1.

@dhindley - Flight of Progress

Disneylover152: Great combination of Carousel of Progress, Flights of Passage, and Spaceship Earth! Three of my favorite rides at Disney World! You took some original and creative steps to combine all three of them, I would have never guessed that it could be possible, but you did it! This seems like a great original IP attraction that really fits Tomorrowland! Maybe a new name though… The current one doesn’t flow that much! Great submission!

DisneyForever: Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, the Carousel family is back! Bringing back a Horizons feel that Disneyland never got seems like such a great idea, and using that Flight of Passage technology makes this project great!

Both: Very creative addition to Tomorrowland! Love how you are combining multiple attractions! Adding a Flight of Passage attraction will be welcomed, but we are not sure how possible that is. But combining three rides that have nothing to do with each other into one ride is very creative and original! With so much detail and effort put in, we applaud you for your submission!

Bonus: Another Innoventions combination with Big Hero 6! Great! +1.

@Magic Feather - Pigs in Space: interplanetary Adventure

Disneylover152: What a goofy idea to replace Star Tours! I would love to go to various Muppet Planets in the Muppet Galaxy! The randomization is much appreciated! Great original idea, even though its similar to someone else’s prompt.

DisneyForever: Pigs… in space? A very nice idea! Pigs may not be aliens, but I can see how they would fit in. Going to “very… Muppey inhabitants” on different planets would make this ride stand out from some others in Tomorrowland. The whole ride seems to have a comedy-yet-storyline feel to it, and it’s completely understandable. Sometimes, those Star Tours ride vehicles can be tricky as to what to put in them, but you have it down nicely!

Both: Great creative project, and while similar to another submission, its still original. As previously stated, The Muppets are not a round peg in a round hole, but you made it make sense! Great job!

Bonus: A Space Mountain 4-D Show next to Space Mountain! Wow! +1.

@pixie_princess - A Journey Through Time and Space

Disneylover152: I love the original character of F.O.U.R. He reminds me of the iCan in the Magic Kingdom! Will he have a meet and greet? I love how yours is a time travel ride rather than a travel ride! It really gives an original feel to the ride! This is an amazing addition to Tomorrowland! Great job!

DisneyForever: A very fun and unique project indeed! F.O.U.R. looks so nice in the drawing. As I was reading your project, I picked up a sensing that some of this was coming from Horizons, maybe it was the underwater cities part. Adding the part about a gift shop and plushies/action figures make this project even more unique. It’s great to see the use of the randomization, seeing as that is what Star Tours does. I can only imagine that the places we go to are highly detailed and heavily immersing. Would this still be in 3D? If so, this would be an awesome addition to Tomorrowland!

Both: Very creative and original! It fits thematically with Tomorrowland, which could be hard, and is a realistic approach to a simulator! Great detail and effort!

Bonus: Great idea for some Wreck it Ralph 2 promotion in the parks. +1.

@Pionmycake - Adventure into Imagination

Disneylover152: I am always for more Figment! I love him! This seems like a fun ride and a welcome addition to Tomorrowland. It reminds me of Inside Out for some reason (lol I have no clue why), but I would let that hold it against you, since it really doesn’t relate to Inside Out. A fun way to add more Figment to the Parks and it seems as a great ride that should have hours of queues.

DisneyForever: Since Figment and Dreamfinder are confined to EPCOT, adding a whole new ride for them across the country would be great! A modernized Imagination Institute? I don’t know about that. For the whole ride, I’m wondering what we’d be seeing as far as abstracts and visuals. Here I see again, a great use of the randomization technique used by Star Tours. A great way to revitalize the Figment and Dreamfinder brand indeed!

Both: This ride fits Epcot wonderfully, while not perfect for Tomorrowland. Still, this is a great idea that can easily be duplicated around the world! It seems realistic, and with the love of Figment recently, something Disney might build! Very creative and original addition with a lot of effort.

Bonus: We are always for more Figment and Dreamfinder +1.

Challenge One Results!
There were an absolute ton of quality proposals, making it really hard trying to select and rank the best.

A great idea alone is worth a lot in One Sentence Competition. So is a well-presented proposal. Our top finishers boasted a combo of each, and in such a crowded field many medal-worthy entries are sadly going unrewarded.

Great job so far to both my fellow competitors and to our duo of hosts! Based on the submission quality so far, we’ve got another fantastic round of OSC on our hands.

I’m loving this two-host format, BTW. (And I’m enjoying not having to speed-write reviews at midnight.) Looking forward to all future challenges!
