Pre-Trip One La-ast Ti-ime (Another Swolphin Sandwich!) (This time with POINTS!)

As I promised in my last TR (I know every mile will be worth my while) here is a full, official PTR for our next trip! This time it's just me (Bee, 29), and my wife (M, who will turn 29 during the trip).

Obviously I couldn't settle on a title. The biggest reason we're going now is our APs expire in August and we won't renew until at least mid-2019, so we want to go "one last time" before they expire. Yes, it's a Hamilton reference.

The reason for the second title is: after briefly straying from our favorite not-Disney Disney resorts, we are going back to the Swolphin (the Swan, to be precise)! We are also taking two days in the middle of our trip to visit M's parents, brother, and CAT (Frisky!) in Jacksonville, hence the "Sandwich" part of the equation.

And of course, the POINTS! Since we travel often, for both business and pleasure, we have acquired a fair number of airline and hotel points. We were able to book 2/4 flight segments completely with Southwest points, and the other 2 segments with previous travel credits from a trip we cancelled. We found a great deal at the Swan using part points and part dollars, so it basically works out to paying for two nights and getting one night free with points.

I feel like that was an excessively wordy introductory post, so I will write more trip specifics (dates, ADRs, FPs, and the like) in the next post. Until then, if you'd like to learn what kind of travelers we are, feel free to read some of my old TRs (linked in my signature). Hint: we are not rope-droppers, we are not park commandos, we do not have kids, we like to make time for nice meals, and we can DRINK. ;)

We made it home before noon. The end of a trip is always bittersweet, but we had a great time despite some setbacks (full details in the TR, of course). We are attending the wedding of a dear friend tonight, and we are both OFF tomorrow so we get to rest and recover a bit!

First of all, you had me at "points!"

On the bill pay website, on the right side there is a box that says “rewards” and a number (the number of reward dollars you have) and a link that says “redeem rewards” or something like that. Click that and then it will give you the option to have a card mailed to you. Or you can call the main customer service number on your credit card and ask for one to be mailed. Either way it takes about a week to receive the new card. You can load the new rewards on to the card online each month when your statement comes out (as long as you have at least $10 in new rewards), or you can wait to add all the new rewards right before your trip. If you forget to add the new rewards before the trip (like I did once!) or even if you forget your card or don’t have one in the first place, you can go to guest services in the parks or Disney Springs.

Rehearsals start after we get back! I’m so excited!

Thanks! You could work for CHASE customer service...

I'll wait a little while and rack up a few more Rewards, I think. I also booked Brunch yesterday, so we are all set!

HELLO MIMOSAS!! :geek:

FYI - you can transfer points instantly from your account to your rewards card (after you get one) at any time, either by calling Chase (which I do if I'm walking through WDW and don't want to stop to use the internet on my phone) or on the internet on your phone, or on your laptop in the room (because I'm not the only one who brings a laptop to check on work, right?)

3 hours, 2 DMV locations, 2 bus rides, and an Uber ride later...

I finally have a drivers license again. It was expiring this year anyway so I renewed it and won’t have to worry about this again (KNOCK ON WOOD) until 2022.

I just renewed mine because I lost the old one! I had to renew in August anyway, so just did it early. I went through the extra birth certificate hassle 8 years ago, so they just mailed me this one, no DMV visit, paid $50 online and got it in a week or so. (We have no inspections, either! I know, I know, bad for the environment - but life is fab without car inspections, plus the beach is right over there, and no snow ever.)

I like the inclusion of the scooter in the Morocco pic. 😉

I really hope @bee got to scoot around singing "Motorin!!!" (Sister Christian.) Just the way my brain works, folks, sorry.

@bee , your trip and mine somewhat overlapped. I got back last Thursday night (was at the Swan, of course!)

How did you like the fact that they decided to fix the bridge on the week that we all were there?! :banghead: I missed the Friendship boats--so much better than the interim bus service to EPCOT and DHS.

Great to know! But, y'know, I'm a millennial so I don't know how to use the phone as a phone! [/sarcasm]

I don't even have a car (living in Hudson County I don't need one) so really the only reason I have a license is so I can go through security when I fly to Orlando for Disney trips...

I always think of you when I stay at the Swan, because I think we may be the two biggest Swan fan on this forum! What if we saw each other and didn't even know it?

I was annoyed at first, but we usually walk more than we boat anyway, so it wasn't too different for us. We ended up always taking the walkway because there was no way we were going to take a BUS to Epcot from the Swan!
