The dc area and nova vs rest of va plays out that way all over.
The area is very heavy on transplants - that perplexes a lot of people. The maryland side had far less than the va side. That combined with the money is what makes nova so diff from the rest of the state.
In md it's about all the population being in the central part while the rest remains largely rural.
The 295 corridor has little motivation for density... It's just going to be more and more sprawl and subdivisions. There isn't the anti growth movement in Howard. AA, or Baltimore counties that you have out here in the pedimont or historic areas in va.
I've lived in every region of md except for the west. Now living in nova due to the suck of 495
