Please show me where someone said, "you shouldn't have fun at Disney."
Uh, this part right here...
The responsibility shouldn't be on the guests to just "look past" poor service. If Disney wants to continue being thought of as the "Happiest Place on Earth", then they should have more accountability for CMs who aren't up to the job of making their guests' vacation experience enjoyable and special. It's not the guests' responsibility to uphold Disney's image and reputation by having to "look past" unacceptable behavior just because a particular CM happens to be having a bad day, or can't hack doing the job they willingly accepted and are being paid to do.
Telling someone what is or isn’t their responsibility on their own vacation as to how they have a good time can be little else.
At 43 I have learned that when dealing with people you end up dealing with emotions and egos (ego is not a bad thing, either...we ALL have them) and not one single person is perfect all of the time...nor are they in an 8 hour shift at work when dealing with people that complain, moan, whine, yell, scream and demand perfection. I understand Walt would want to get as near to perfection as possible, but Walt would also see that many guests today are far bigger idiots and troublemakers than 60 years ago. Life is too short for me to be upset on my vacation about the majority of crap that is complained about. I mean really...did the wand on SSE make time at Epcot so miserable?? Does the hat at DHS do the same?? Does a CM that acts rude ruin a vacation? If it does, then I sure don't want you around me, because I am thankful I get to take a vacation in a place like WDW and enjoy every single minute.
So, guess what? It
IS my responsibility to overlook some things which I see as not being perfect or only a human being having a bad day. If others would like to stew in their own juices over a CM that might have said something out of line...feel free. I, on the other hand, might say a short prayer for them and move on, because for all I know maybe their mother has just been given the news she has breast cancer, or maybe their husband just left them, or one of a thousand different things that would make you and I act the same way!!
But turning a blind eye to anything that is wrong isn't helping the company at all.
Anything?? Really??
Anything???? I should voice my concern over every single thing that is not up to my expectation?
No...I think I will just take responsibilty for my own enjoyment and not finger point. If something doesn't appeal to me, I will just move on to something else that does instead of expecting to be catered to as if I was the only one there.
