Always guaranteed to have a wonderful time, and if you don't -- you had to work at it. How anybody can not have a good time shows that they are not able to see past the $$ and forget that it is 'imagination'. Disney tried and succeeded in creating the 'happiest place on earth'. I look forward to my annual escape to escapism. You don't have to rush - unless you want to. The most memorable experience was 30 years ago when my future wife and I were there for a conference she had to attend and I discovered that it was my intent to make her my wife. Disney provided the atmosphere.

I think of 2003 when my DW and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary at Disney World. The most special moment for me was watching Illuminations and taking in all of the Magic, soaking in all of the 'feel good' music and atmosphere. At that moment in time the world actually does SEEM like a better, happier place. No, everything is not perfect at Disney, but revel in the moments that you really enjoy and love, holding on to the GREAT times and not putting so much emphasis on the negative.

Heck, DW and I were planning on going last September and we had to cancel because of medical issues, then we had this February all planned (again) and had to cancel because of medical issues (again!), so I really, really am looking forward to getting back. I can overlook the crummy things because of all the special times.

I have been seriously thinking of finding a way to put Disney in my name somehow legally I sware to god that is how much I love Disney the man the dream the parks all of it....It keeps me going aside from my hubby it's the 2nd bestest ever!!!!!!Need I say more :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::wave::) ~Tinkerchelli~

The complainers even go out of their way to complain about the people that have a good time, and tell them why they should not.

The responsibility shouldn't be on the guests to just "look past" poor service. If Disney wants to continue being thought of as the "Happiest Place on Earth", then they should have more accountability for CMs who aren't up to the job of making their guests' vacation experience enjoyable and special. It's not the guests' responsibility to uphold Disney's image and reputation by having to "look past" unacceptable behavior just because a particular CM happens to be having a bad day, or can't hack doing the job they willingly accepted and are being paid to do.
Kinda missed the theme here, didn't you? :brick:

Please show me where someone said, "you shouldn't have fun at Disney."

Because honestly, I don't know anyone who feels like that. But turning a blind eye to anything that is wrong isn't helping the company at all.

Hmmm... how do I put this?

I came into work today at 6 am. A guest come down to the front desk, cursed at me over something that isn't my fault, left in a fit without accepting my apologies, came back yelled at me, then my superior (but not boss) and then the GM of out hotel. He called us liars and said we were the worst hotel he's ever stayed in. 2 hours later, I got an e-mail from Disney saying I had been accepted into the college program. My day has been the best! I have been giddy all day and not a single other thing can bring me down. I am so happy that I will get to move down there and live Disney. It turely means the world to me.

Awesome! What role did you get? I'm headed back down in August for attractions.

Dwelling on something that is wrong to the exclusion of what is wonderful doesn't help the guest either. Although not directly, it was certainly implied that there was something wrong with "looking past" a bad experience, what seems to be lost is that there was no indication that the poster was referring to anything particularly horrid, but suddenly it was not the guest's responsibility to "look past" poor service...

In a thread started to highlight the positive, such negativity is just dredging for argument and contributes nothing.

I agree that one should not dwell on it, but I think it is a guest's responsibility to say something at the end of the day if something was wrong with the cast, attractions, shows, or food. Disney relies on guest feedback to right it's wrongs.

Well, funny story:

I actually got the e-mail that my deadline is approaching and I haven't accepted/declined, but I never got the first e-mail. I called and the guy said he would get the e-mail resent, but I still haven't gotten it yet. So... long story short, I have no clue. Even still, I am so happy!

Sounds like something the college program would do. Congrats none the less!

Like many of the people on this thread the thought of WDW makes the bad times in life seem not quite so bad. It is a provider of good and happy memories, times of joy and days filled with fun. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end with the thought of it. I can't compare the feeling to anything else when being at WDW. Just pure Magic.

Uh, this part right here...

The responsibility shouldn't be on the guests to just "look past" poor service. If Disney wants to continue being thought of as the "Happiest Place on Earth", then they should have more accountability for CMs who aren't up to the job of making their guests' vacation experience enjoyable and special. Telling someone what is or isn’t their responsibility on their own vacation as to how they have a good time can be little else.

At 43 I have learned that when dealing with people you end up dealing with emotions and egos (ego is not a bad thing, either...we ALL have them) and not one single person is perfect all of the time...nor are they in an 8 hour shift at work when dealing with people that complain, moan, whine, yell, scream and demand perfection. I understand Walt would want to get as near to perfection as possible, but Walt would also see that many guests today are far bigger idiots and troublemakers than 60 years ago. Life is too short for me to be upset on my vacation about the majority of crap that is complained about. I mean really...did the wand on SSE make time at Epcot so miserable?? Does the hat at DHS do the same?? Does a CM that acts rude ruin a vacation? If it does, then I sure don't want you around me, because I am thankful I get to take a vacation in a place like WDW and enjoy every single minute.

So, guess what? It IS my responsibility to overlook some things which I see as not being perfect or only a human being having a bad day. If others would like to stew in their own juices over a CM that might have said something out of line...feel free. I, on the other hand, might say a short prayer for them and move on, because for all I know maybe their mother has just been given the news she has breast cancer, or maybe their husband just left them, or one of a thousand different things that would make you and I act the same way!!

But turning a blind eye to anything that is wrong isn't helping the company at all.

Anything?? Really?? Anything???? I should voice my concern over every single thing that is not up to my expectation?

No...I think I will just take responsibilty for my own enjoyment and not finger point. If something doesn't appeal to me, I will just move on to something else that does instead of expecting to be catered to as if I was the only one there.

Like so many others, the hardest thing about posting this is where to begin. Unfortunately, my first Disney trip was just after I turned 33. I had just gotten divorced, my daughter was 9. I've loved Disney movies all my life and was excited but had absolutely no clue how my life was about to he changed. The first really memorable thing I think of is visiting Minnie's house. There were 2 women pusing a woman (she HAD to be well over 90) in a reclining wheelchair. Minnie came over to her and touched her face and held her hand.... this angel just had tears streaming down her cheeks... it was one of the most magical/beautiful/special things I had ever seen. So, we went home and my next trip was just over a year later. My father passed away and we were coming to Disneyland for New Years Eve. We felt like as awful as the year had been, we wanted something awesome to bring in the New Year. The very first day going into the park is when I realized how much a part of me the whole thing was. We got through the turnstiles and I just started bawling. It's true... "Here You Leave Today and Enter the World of Yesterday Tomorrow and Fantasy". Every trip, my first stop always has to be MK. You go under the RR tracks and come out on Main Street. The Music, the buildings, the various modes of transportation; everything welcoming you back home. Sometimes you're greeted by old friends; Goofy, Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, Chip and Dale. Finally you make your way to the hub where you see that castle at the end of the street. Now that you've made it, you wish that time could stop, even if only briefly just so you can keep that moment in time where, for me, I am at the place where I am truly happiest.

There's positives & negatives to everything. For me, Disney is what helps me escape from the significantly negative things in regular life.

My favorite memories....
-Planning my disney at home wedding
-Honeymooning in Disney
-The first time I rode Cinderella's horse
-Finding my first paint brush on TSI
-Being proposed to by Chip in front of the whole Garden Grille restaurant.
-Seeing all the holiday lights with my family in 2006, and being in awe.
-Riding in the front of the monorail (it was a surprise for me the first time)
-Coming back to my room to find balloons & a congrats picture from mickey & minnie
-Getting a window seat at CRT
-Getting 2 magic moments certificates
-Going on a park wide scavenger hunt that my husband set up

I could go on for a long while....but those are just some of my favorite moments. Those are just a few of the reasons why Disney is the happiest place on earth for me. Quite an escape. :)

I meant it's not good to turn a blind eye to everything. I used a wrong word. Someone needs to switch to decaf.

But that's the thing, if you don't like something...say something. Dinsey isn't going to be able to better itself if you just whistle by things that aren't right. You are supposed to feel like the parks are there for you(within a reasonable sense).

Sorry, but to not complain about anything, isn't helping Disney. I don't care how great my vacations have been there before I was en employee, there was always something that stood out that could have been better, and we let Disney know.

I LOVE HOW THE CAST MEMBERS AND CHARACTERS INTERACT WITH GUESTS. A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO, WE TOOK OUR 3 YEAR OLD NIECE AND AS WE WERE COMING OUT OF THE CHINA PAVILLION AND THERE WAS NO ONE AROUND, A CASTMEMBER WALKED UP TO MY NIECE AND ASKED IF SHE WOULD LIKE TO MEET MULAN...I LOOKED UP AND THERE SHE WAS! MULAN IS MY FAVORITE DISNEY MOVIE AND WE SPENT ROUGHLY 20 MINS. WITH HER JUST TALKING AND HAVING PICS MADE...IT WAS THE MOST AMAZING THING SEEING MY NIECE'S REACTION! SHE LOVED IT! SHE FELT SO SPECIAL BEING THE ONLY ONE THERE. WE SAW HER (MULAN) AGAIN THAT AFTERNOON AND SHE REMEMBERED MY NIECES NAME! I WAS AMAZED!!!!!!! HAVING SEEN WHO KNOWS HOW MANY KIDS, BUT SHE REMEMBERED HER NAME! I GUESS IT'S TRUE...IT IS THE MOST MAGICAL PLACE ON EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I LEAVE IN 8 DAYS TO GO BACK!!!:sohappy:
