My friend from out of state found this in her long dead friends things last week, and thought I would like it. Not being much of a Disney freak, she just said, "Its something Disney. Not sure if you will like it, but here it is!"

And she just mailed it to me. Just up and gave it to me. And when it arrived, I had a heart attack.

It is a map of Disneyland. From 1968. In PERFECT condition. I don't know what to do with myself.......

Should I frame it and keep it? Get it appraised? Its got to be worth a nice chunk of change, so who knows.......

BTW My aunt didn't want to play display model, but I made her. LOL. Enjoy all the picture goodness.

*Note to all the Disney geeks such as myself: Please swallow any liquids that are currently in your mouth, and put down anything that might be in your hands at the moment. You are about to geek out. Just letting you know.

Very nice, don't think I've seen that exact one before.
I love the early Space Mountain on the map. Only 9 years early....

A professional framer can use a "cold press" method to get the folds out and stabilize the poster against a flat board so that it will not have ripples in it after framing. They can also use acid-free materials, which will greatly prolong the life of the poster after framing. Hang it where it won't get exposed to direct sunlight, as sunlight can fade the colors over time. Try to minimize handling it before you get it framed - fingerprints have acid in them, and can speed up the aging process of the paper.

now I could be totally wrong here but I'm pretty sure they had them for sale in the Emporium at Disneyland when I was there over Christmas.

I've always said that if I was rich and money was no problem at all. I would try to buy the original Disneyland map from the company. THAT would be an artifact to have. Company would never sell it but wouldn't that be cool to have hanging on your wall?

Cool find though...

Amazing advice! As a matter of fact, we have a pro framing shop literally down the street from the house, so I think I will hop down there and get a quote; I'll check back in with you guys and give you updates on the price.

They most likely did, but those maps weren't copyrighted 1968.

For a good job framing such a large sheet, I've paid anything from $300 to $700 dollars.
