Power outage perhaps. In any case, I don't think that I would be "here" if I were going through the worst of a major storm.

We thankfully still have power!! My parents lost theirs about an hour ago. It's pretty windy but the worst should be later - bracing for that!! Mainly trying to finish anything that may be difficult to do wihout power - vacuuming, laundry, etc. thinking of starting to pack actually being it's 12 days now - I get to use the zombie countdown in 2 more days!! :D

I was thinking that the shows at Seaworld might be better for children that age.

Thanks guys! We're actually going to hold off decidin until we see what he weather is going to be - if we have any days in the 80's we are going to do Blizzard Beach instead of going offsite. I think Seaworld is the leading contender though! :)

I pray that you remain safe. I have been through several hurricanes, and I know that they can be, at best, a major hassle. Enjoy that countdown and remember that I am only a few hours away from WDW, in case you need a backup sniper.

I'll keep that in mind!!

Last year with Irene my friend's dad actually showed her the best place to position herself in the house with the shotgun should the looters come to call.

My kind of guy. I use two chains on my generator because some people have had their generators stolen. We have never had problems with riff-raff during or after storms. I guess the dead zombies in the front yard are warning enough.

The Butler's Pantry - I can see both the front and back doors, but I have good cover.

The winds have definitely picked up in this past hour. One limb down from one of the trees out front, but it missed the house.

Saw a chart yesterday of where possible power outages could be. It said due to the winds that were/are expected, places near Madison, Wisconsin (about an hour from where I live) could be without power.

Good luck and stay safe through the rest of the storm!

High tide in about 2 hours here - that's when they expect the worse damages. We're far enough from the bay that we should be OK.

I read in the paper this morning that our local Power Company just sent 600 workers and vehicles to the northeast.

Yes actually I was thinking of you. A whole convoy of bucket trucks from Alabama arrived here the other day. We have some from Michigan and Wisconsin too. It's kind of neat to have them all here, even if they couldn't do much today with our 60mph gusts. They'll have their work cut out for them tomorrow - half the state is without power.

The Alabama Power guys have gotten quite adept at hurricane damage. They are always going to the hot spots around the nation.
