Same foot, recurring problem. MY PT said that this could happen for the next couple of YEARS!

I'm just really bummed right now.

I'm hoping so. i've been icing and elevating it all night, and the swelling is doing much better. Still getting sharp pains across the arch though. So much for my roller derby career....

The Fall holidays are a little hard for me now, and will be in the future, I'm afraid. My husband's birthday is sometimes labor Day (no problem yet) My mother was born October 12th (Columbus day until it became a Monday holiday) and died on November 11th (Veteran's/Armistice Day - ditto re Mondays) so I don't forget.

It is different with my father - born and died about a month apart, datewise, but not on any holiday. And my husband has forgotten my birthday in the past, so I don't think it will be an issue in the future if I predecease him.

It's always difficult when a holiday takes on extra meanings like that. My mom is a Leap Year baby, so we'll always have that. My dad was born on Flag Day and he always would tell us to "raise the flag - it's my birthday". I just get people running around a pole on mine....

I know it's a different issue, but my plantar fasciitis has pretty much disappeared since having first a biweekly and then a monthly pedicure which involves massaging the fascia. You could try it yourself (once your foot feels better) by soaking your foot in warm water, applying a little lotion or oil, and then really "mashing" with your thumbs up and down your arch for a few minutes.

I always felt sad for any family who had someone die near Christmas. To have such a negative memory connected with such an already emotionally charged holiday must be terrible.

BTW, anyone else having Zombie runs in their area? There's a 5K planned downtown - you can choose to be a runner or a zombie. The runners have little flags, and if a Zombie gets it you become a zombie. Last non-zombie is the winner.

Part of my PT involved ultra-sound to break up scar tissue and then a pretty intense massage. It was sheer torture for me - I can't stand anyone touching my feet - but it did help. I have stretches and things that I still have to do in warm water to prevent this from recurring. I spoke with my PT guy yesterday, and he said that this is just something I have to deal with for the next couple of years. Apparently it's very slow healing, and unless you're totally off your feet the risk is there. It's not as painful as the original injury this time, so I'm hoping this will be gone soon.

Sounds like fun, but I think I'd be pretty much doomed at this point.

We just had a Zombie Walk to raise money for the local food bank....I think they walked from the fountain up to the capitol...a distance of about 6 city blocks. Not a lot of exercise there!
