Oh, those poor Ingalls girls...

Time off - they were doing it in the conference room in my building so we went down together. I love the feeling of doing a good thing - but hate the weird woozy feeling. I'm kind of little - and you need to be 110 to donate. I just barely make it over that so that may be part of it. I think it's a bit mental too (where's all my blood??!)

Cue redsox guy with a creepy photo...

*sigh* She'll never learn!

*licks the last piece of fudge*

In all seriousness...I think if anyone in my house ate the last of the fudge I would totally flip out. Actually that's not true. I would let my kids eat it. My husband would get the smackdown.

On another note - one of my neighbors has been helping us out by picking veggies from our garden since we have WAY more than we could possibly eat. It's a total favor since things would be rotting if she didn't. Anyway - she has been dropping off treats that she made as a "thank you" - I've gotten 2 containers of mozzarella, tomatoes, basil & red onions and today she dropped off a banana bread. It's awesome!

Our tomatoes are just about done. There are still a few green ones on the plants, but they don't seem to be doing much. Dave's brother keeps sending us stuff from his gigantic garden.

We bought lettuce this past weekend for the first time in months! It was so weird.

OK - I'm off to ice my arm. It's all bruised and hurts to straighten. Am I a big baby? Yes! But even my husband said to ice it. Helping people sure is an inconvenience sometimes!!!!!! :D

Re the fudge. My husband came form a family where eating the last of anything was a major sin. So I often go to get something, and there is literally one teaspoon of ice cream or some potato chip crumbs - not even a handful. I would much rather that he just finish it off! So, in my house, you would go to get some fudge, and there would be a piece the size of quarter left. :D

My neighbor stopped at an apple orchard in Ohio, and then at a peach orchard in GA, and brought me a ton of stuff. I already delivered a container of diced peaches marinated in peach nectar and peach liqueur - great for making peach shortcake or over ice cream.

Today I'm baking two apple pies.

The best peaches I have ever tasted were from an orchard in PA, just outside of Carlisle. We picked them up while dropping my daughter off at school. Then,on parent's weekend, we brought an empty suitcase, zip loc bags, and bubble wrap to bring apples home.

We just don't get consistently good apples down here.

Yeah, apples need that seasonal weather. Where I grew up, well you know all about that, there were lots of orchards, so in the fall they always hired us kids to pick apples. The pay was pitiful, and we'd pick after school til it got too dark to see. Then when we moved away from that end of the state I realized that pweople here actually enjoyed going apple-picking as a family. They have no idea!!!

It's a good thing that zombies don't care for fresh produce!
Well, it depends on how you look at it. If they don't care for one another, being amoral, as it were, then indeed they do not care for fresh produce. But if they mutate as fresh produce and actually care for one another, then I'm afraid that you are wrong on this one.
