Hmm.... So they pretty much just locked out all the the CPs who just come in and freeload because they are not old enough to drink. That's not a bad idea. In the long run its not gonna matter either way, most of these clubs aren't gonna be around in a few more years...

Sounds great to me. I'd also prefer if they only let people under the age of 21 to only enter in the rear entrance, next to Comedy Warehouse & AC. It's unfortunate that people feel the need to get face-falling drunk in PI, but the parents who would expose their children to that because THEY'RE too selfish to understand that there are places you shouldn't bring kids, are reprehensible, IMHO. Just like casinos in AC don't allow kids on the gaming floor, just like any other nightclub in America that wants to keep their liquor license wouldn't allow kids to hang out at the bar, there should be strict limits not only to where minors can go in PI, but how they get there to not be exposed to people being irresponsible.

A step in the right direction to define Pleasure Island and detract the stroller set away. Let's hope they plus the existing clubs that remain after the rehab.

It's an odd combination. I like the closed club district aspect (including the limited 21+ status, although I can empathize with the under 21 crowd that likes it since I was 20 during my CP and frequented PI quite often - including my 21st. :sohappy: ). But, there is retail there and the need for an open walkway to the Marketplace.

I like the idea of the upper and lower walkway. I think if they built the lower walkway around BET and AC over to the boat and expand the front walk (where the Midway games are), it could give people access to the stores and the CW, leave the "upper level" for the club district, and maintain some of the old PI feeling while aleviating some of the problems it had. Is the concept art still floating around on here?

I'm glad my "rumor" has finally been confirmed. I was so excited when I posted this as I really don't like the under 21 crowd. I was one of those guys years ago, but wasn't allowed in Mannequins which was the main draw, for one "group" at least, so why bother really?

Also, how many 18-21 year olds, on VACATION, would go to PI to hang out? I think anyone who went in this age bracket were locals.

When we return for our next visit in March, we will have 2-16 year olds with us. While we're at DD, would it be appropriate to stop in with them to see a show at The Comedy Warehouse? Is the humour appropriate and is it a funny show/evening?

You will be ok at Comedy Warehouse with the two. The humor is "Disney Friendly" about 98% of the time.

Plus, most 16 year-olds are old enough to be exposed to the stuff that does slip through. :) (And even for younger ages, the stuff that does get through goes over their heads anyway)

Everyone's limits of acceptability differ. If I had kids, I don't think I'd have a problem exposing them to Comedy Warehouse or AC. AC is sometimes suggestive, more bawdy than naughty. Comedy Warehouse, they occasionally let loose an expletive but rarely do any sort of improv that would be inappropriate:
"OK, let's develop a scenario, what kind of job should Kelli have?"
"Crack wh***!"

Y'see, THAT sort of thing rarely happens.

Thanks for all of the responses.

What is the deal with The Adventurer's Club? Is it a show or are the 'patrons' actually actors? I'm confused as to what you do there (eat, dance, drink :veryconfu )?

Hate to spoil it for you or ayone else, because it is kind of cool to walk in not knowing what to expect for the first time. so look for the answer in inviso text below. Highlight it to read

You can think of AC as a loosely structured show with various "acts" throughout the night in the club's "library." It's part-revue, with songs and little pre-planned bits, and part-improv that includes audience participation. The cast members play various characters who are all members of the Adventurer's Club, thrilling you with their tales of adventure and romance, but more often than not, those stories get ruined by the character's bickering with each other. Think of "The Addams Family" if it took place in a gentleman's smoking-parlour type club from the 1930s-40s, with songs and a sillier vibe, and you kind of have the gist. And in-between "acts," there are mini-shows that go on in the main bar area, plus two smaller rooms filled with various "treasures" collected by the members on their adventures or talking masks. Silly but harmless fun, usually appropriate for all ages. Some people plan on staying a short while and wind up staying all night. And they are encouraged to do so.

I will say this, however: There is a larger room with a stage you probably WILL not see when you first walk in. As a result, you may look around the main bar area, see some cool little trinkets or hear some corny jokes but not really think it's all that impressive. WAIT until they open the library, and then you'll get a better sense of what the AC is all about.

AC is the best thing about PI. Last time I was there we spent 4 hours in there and still didn't see and experience everything. You could spend almost your whole night there.

STUPID STUPID STUPID idea, they will lose so much business now to CityWalk. 21+ clubs very rarely turn crowds, and even now PI doesn't turn crowds except on CM nights. This is a very bad move.

Wow! It must be a neat place because I have difficulty seeing myself in any one club for 4 hours. These post are making AC sound really intersting.

Actually, they won't from what it was in the recent future. PI's been declining in attendance aside from CM nights for years. Putting the clubs at 21 may help because a lot of locals don't go because of the teen factor. This will keep a lot of activity like that out (and over at City Walk where it festers). The demographics are completely different. Plus, this isn't changing anything but three clubs: Motion, RnRBC, and 8Tracks. Plus, if the rumors are true, RnRBC will be on the chopping block at some point soon. I also think that one of the others will hit the chopping block, too. I actually think that it will help. Keep a bank of them as a club district and give people visual access. Then you don't have to turn as much a revenue off single club admissions.
