Wonder what ticket sales would have been like if D23 were held in Orlando? Any thoughts?
May have been a better choice...according to the 2000 US Census, almost 70% of the US population lives in the Eastern and Central time zones. But that doesn't necessarily translate to better sales. Statistically speaking in terms of ticket sales, it would have been better to have it in FL. The current state of the economy is probably the real culprit for low sales.

I agree. I have no idea how much a ticket to ComicCon in San Diego costs, or the BlizCon here in Anaheim costs. But things like the OC Auto Show are just 10 bucks, and you get a free year subscription to Motor Trend with your ticket.

37 dollars per day for D23 Expo is steep. Or over a hundred dollars for all four days, plus your 75 dollar year membership dues for D23.
Tickets to Blizzcon were $40 this year per day. Held in the same convention center.

ComicCon tickets were $20-$35 a ticket per day. ComicCon is also a non-profit company and held at a different venue.

It's apple to oranges. Baseball tickets in my area cost $6 and hockey tickets can be over $100. It doesn't mean that the hockey tickets are overpriced because they cost more than baseball.

Where's the wdwmagic.com booth?

A shame only the SoCal websites are represented at D23 Expo.

Well, SOME East-Coast sites will be represented:

Inside the Magic/Orlando Attractions/Ricky Brigante

WDWradio/WDW Trivia/Lou Mongello

Unofficial Guide/TouringPlans.com

Allearsnet.com/Deb Wills

Just a few...

A little off topic here... How about anyone know any sites that are following the more general Disney news and info, such as movies and animation??

Can't wait to see if there is any new info released :)

It's an interesting thought, at least. I would have expected the 800,000 DL passholders to be all over this, but apparently not in the numbers one might expect. The expo isn't cheap, and then there is the economy to consider, but in Florida you have people on vacation. If you are already spending thousands on the family trip, suddenly D23 doesn't seem so expensive anymore (maybe instead of Blizzard Beach or Sea World or something).

In the end it might or might not have sold any better, and there would have been the problem of having no single convention facility of sufficient size in WDW (I suppose you could divide it up between the Contemporary, Coronado Springs, and other facilities).

I would like to see them just take each park and cover it for about 10 minutes detailing what the future holds. I don't want to just hear WDW, I want to hear about each theme park individually. Heres what we are discussing for Animal Kingdom, now heres what we are planning for Epcot, etc...

I don't expect that each park has to have something as drastic as FL expansion, but just some info on what they are thinking of doing with the park or what they think the park is in need of.

Yup LaughingPlace.com (both the owners & podcast) are based right outside the Orlando area also. I HIGHLY recommend keeping an eye on all of these sites twitters because more than likely those will be the first to be updated. A few examples of Twitters that I am sure will have lot of updates are @Figgy999 (co-host of the laughingplace.com podcast) @laughing_place (official twitter for laughingplace.com) @stitchkingdom (Stitch Kingdom's official twitter) @loumongello (Lou of WDW Radio's twitter) @wdwmagic (this sites twitter) & of coarse @Disney23 (official D23 twitter) just to name a few :D

You can rest assured that if anything significant comes out of D23, it's going to become very public very fast. I wouldnt worry about missing anything. Even without any of the fans going who are reporting, Disney themselves will be sure to let the world know.

I'll do a report

There's the very large Orange County Convention Center (or Orlando Convention Center, or whatever it's called). True, it's not right across the street like the one in Anaheim is, but it's certainly big enough.

I just want to say, thanks for the thread! I leave for the other side of the Disney spectrum (WDW) on Fri and will enjoy having one solid place to come to look and see about the news that gets released at D23...so thank you! And keep it posted well for those of us who are not going to be able to make it AND have limited computer access. :D

Anyone up for a 4-day Al Lutz meet and greet marathon? :dazzle:

LOL you can be sure that some of the internet's Disney fandom personalities will be doing their level best to make D23 all about them. Isn't that what all of these large meets turn into?

(not aiming that at Al Lutz, I've never seen him in action).

Aim away!

Al Lutz is not a very good website poster. I fund him to be full of himself and he never interacts with anyone over at Miceage/Chat. I come here for by WDW fix and I created an account at Micechat for DL. I did not get the community feeling nor do I feel welcome. I do check for updates but I do not like the forums. This site is great and so welcoming.
