November / December Crowds

Hi

We have not visited since November 2009, and are thinking now is the time to return to our favourite destination.

Just wondering if anyone has any information on what the crowds would be like in early november or early december, avoiding Thanksgiving.

Also if we came at this time of year how much of the new fantasyland would be open?

Many thanks

I can do a couple of things for you. If you tell me the dates you are considering, I can look at touringplans.com for you. But also, I can provide personal experience at both times of year.

In 2006, DH and I went from the 16th to the 23rd. The early part of the week, the parks were SO empty! Just walking on the rides. However, around the 22nd or so, the crowds started to get heavier. And by the 23rd, it was busy!!!

In 2008, we went the week prior to Thanksgiving and we were there for Thanksgiving. The week before the holiday, it was empty, much like in Dec. Just did what ever we wanted adn walked on rides. For example, I think we rode Haunted Mansion 4 times in a row with no wait. But Wednesday afternoon prior to Thanksgiving, it got much busier. And then for the rest of the time it was busy. But it was not unbearable, like over Easter or anything. It was just more crowded.

Hi there..I'm going 11/24 - 11/30 and I can tell you based on touringplans.com numbers...you'll be fine. Saturday and Sunday (24th and 25th) might be busy but the rest of the time smooth sailing.

I USED to go Thanksgiving week and like DisneyGirl said....by Wednesday day before Thanksgiving...crowds are huge and come Thanksgiving Day - holy cow!

Have fun!!! You'll be fine your week.

The earlier dates may not have all Christmas decorations up, but certainly most. You would still see OSoL and there are dates for the MVMCP if you're interested. The second dates include the holiday week, Pop Warner Championships and the taping of the Christmas Day Parade. Not stuff that would kill a trip but could certainly affect your daily plans.

I went last Nov. 11th to MVMCP and all the Christmas decorations were up then.

We went last year over Veterans weekend. Arrived Thursday night and departed Tuesday evening. Friday at Epcot was a madhouse due to the last weekend of the F&W Festival. I'm imagining it will be even busier this year with the additional of the Wine and Dine Half Marathon that weekend. But come Sunday-Tuesday it was slow. Epcot was a ghost town on Monday and we went to MK on Tuesday AM and did everything we wanted to do by the time we left at 1:30. I'd recommend avoiding the last weekend of F&W Festival if possible! We've also been during Thanksgiving and while it was busy, it wasn't like spring break crowds at all.

Our trip is planned for Nov. 25th through Dec. 1st, the week after Thanksgiving. So far everything that I have seen indicates that the crowds will be low to moderate. However, the weekend of December 1st is when PeeWee Football comes to WDW for their tournaments and it is also the taping of the parade so there will be some congestion in MK. Good luck with making yur decision and maybe we will bump into you there.

What is pop warner?

Youth football program.

Reason enough to go the other dates!!!! Was there for it last year and NEVER will make that mistake again.

We were there 2 years ago, and had next to no problems with them. Some of the cheerleaders were a little annoying in park, but definitely much better than tour groups. Alot of it depends on if you are at the same hotel they are staying in. If you do happen to be there, and observer poor and unruly behavior, report it to both the resort and to Pop Warner. The rulebook they all have to abide by has clauses in there regarding their behavior and Pop Warner can and will send them home if needed.

Thanks Disney Girl! Thats when we are going: Sun 11/18 - Sat 11/24. I expected Sun - Tues very light crowds!
