Interesting, but unrelated blog post by the stats nerds at Touring plans. They were discussing wait times for the parks, 2014 vs 2015, and the average Anna and Else M&G wait times are down 48% since last year. 21% in the early fall, year over year. So it definitely has started to taper off. Crash and burn... no, not even close, but down to earth numbers. Time will tell how sustainable the numbers are and what the bottom number looks like. But will the crowds still be that big in 2 years, because it's unlikely that a new ride would be online quicker then that.
Based on the costumes that I saw last week and talking with other parents, Frozen fever has not yet reached the breaking pint. With the new ride and with a sequel on the way, I would expect big crowds for the next 5 years. But will the crowds still be that big in 2 years, because it's unlikely that a new ride would be online quicker then that.
I agree that the ride will just add more interest.I think it's a good possibility. Frozen the movie came out in November 2013...here we are two years later and Frozen fever is still everywhere. By the time this ride opens, it's going to reignite Frozen fever and that's easily going to last another couple years, which then puts us right in the time frame of Frozen 2 coming out.
Went and visited my son in Kindergarten for their Halloween party. There were 6 kids dressed as Elsa, 1 was a boy and he looked awesome. Plus 4 Annas and 1 Olaf. Thats 11 kids out of 22 who were dressed as Frozen.Based on the costumes that I saw last week and talking with other parents, Frozen fever has not yet reached the breaking pint. With the new ride and with a sequel on the way, I would expect big crowds for the next 5 years.
The Disney website lists the maelstrom "refurb" as ending at the end of April. So most are saying May 1st.Was there a more specific date discussed for the re-opening of the ride besides early 2016? I assume the ride will be open well before the new meet and greet next door is...

Except for the horrible ride title, frozen ever after, above the doors, uggg. I still say "Olaf's Adventure" would have looked and sounded better for being in Norway. instead of some fairy princess title.
And we can only assume that this additional 30 feet will add 800 guests per hour to the attraction capacity.About 30 ft...
It will have a Nemo Subs in Disneyland type opening (6 hour waits), but it will ultimately taper off. Frozen Ever After will have better capacity than the Nemo subs, but still higher demand. They're solving the capacity issues at Toy Story and Soarin' and creating one that is very likely to be much worse. But will the crowds still be that big in 2 years, because it's unlikely that a new ride would be online quicker then that.
That is what really confuses me about this decision. Everything else has been geared towards reduced waits and traffic congestion lately. You mentioned a couple of these projects but there are many more including Dumbo, the MK Hub, ferry docs, AK pathway expansions. This clearly goes against all of that and creates a massive logjam.
And yet, they could have easily opened an entire land for Frozen in May 2017 had they commenced construction when the film hit $1 billion and was clearly a hit.I think the desire to quickly capitalize the on the popularity of Frozen over road basic logic.
Just a guess here, but the decision for Frostrom was made before they finally opened their eyes to the plight of HS and realized they needed to spend real money and build on a larger scale (not to mention APPROPRIATE setting). Perhaps the execs (or whoever cares) looked at the Frozen project and just decided that even though it goes against the current process of expansion to spreading out crowds, it allows something new for Epcot while they are spending at HS and AK. Again, just a guess. That is what really confuses me about this decision. Everything else has been geared towards reduced waits and traffic congestion lately. I actually think it will be a pretty good ride but that will only make the problem worse.
