I'm still waiting to hear from my Aunt & Uncle (in their 70's) who were going to ride the storm out in Mobile..............

She is not in LA, she is in Texas now and doesn´t know how damaged her house is... but her family is safe, that´s what counts :)

The images shown from the air on CNN and the news here are so scary! I´ve experienced various hurricanes where I live, but thank God we have no rivers to overflow or have the major cities below sea level like in N.O. (and the surrounding areas...)

Heard from the relatives. All is well. They are high enough that they did not get flooded out. They lost trees and power.

My friends in Slidell/Lake Ponch will not fair so well I fear. They evacuated when they could, but her husband stayed behind (works for the nuclear plant) and is talking about the devastation. My thoughts and prayers are with these people.

Has anyone heard from LongFamily that frequents here? I know they were from Slidell ( I believe). We are in Mobile, we are fine, but are concerned about our Disney "family" on here.

Don't know. Perhaps someone can start a list of those in the area whom we HAVE heard from, as we have done before. Perhaps this can be done on the Weather thread (or here, either could be appropriate).

Thats a PML thread and not everybody can read it.

Debbie & Irrawaddy Eric have checked in. They had evacuated before the storm and are safe. MicBat was not in Slidell and his family had gone to Florida. He is ok, but hadn't been able to contact his family.

Still no word from LongFamily Ringo & MKCP.

I got texts from Jonnie last nite (calls on the cell are just impossible right now) Hes fine and in Baton Rouge where they lost power for a few hours on Monday but seem to be in good shape. He finally was able to speak to his evacuated family last nite. Everyone is fine but no one is sure about the house in Slidell.

So glad he was able to get thru to his family, thats a big weight that has been lifted.
