well, it's not even thanksgiving yet. I'm pretty sure they don't put the Christmas decor up until after thanksgiving. There might be some stuff, but probably not the major stuff such as the tree.

wrong... the entire park is xmas'ed up.... the only missing is the tree.. xmas parties started on the 10th of november, so MK has been dressed for xmas for a while now..

the other parks haven't been getting their xmas best on until the last week or so.. I can only guess that they are waiting until after the weekend of the 5th (the parade filming) to put tree up... last year they moved the tree after the parade.. which was a pain, looks like they are just waiting until after the filming this year.

The past couple of years, they have had the tree up between Tomorrowland and the Castle. Don't know if it is there or not at this very moment, but if the park has decor up then I would say it is.

Supposedly, Disney decided to save the cost of setting up the tree twice this year by only setting it up the one time. After the filming of the WDW Christmas Day Parade you can expect to see the tree in Town Square.

This makes me glad I'm not going to WDW or MVMCP until after the parade filming w/e. Last year, we went during filming and the garland was not strung across Mainstreet. It was disappointing, but we shook it off and had a great time.

They canceled doing any worth while attractions for the next several years, why would we expect them not to cancel holiday cheer as well?!? This is Wal-Mart World after all!

We are going down in just a few days...what decorations are missing? Please tell me there is garland on Main Street. It is my favorite. I don't miss the tree so much, but I really love the garland.

I really don't see what Walmart has to do with any of this. As we've already heard, there haven't been any cuts to the holiday decor, they're just waiting till after the Parade to set up the tree...makes sense... all companies try to cut nonproductive costs such...having to set up a christmas tree twice is not only non-productive but it's also stupid...

Steve already posted the pictures showing that the Garland down Main Street has already been installed...

I don't think its stupid at all. For the past several years, they have been setting up the tree near the tomorrowland bridge before the parade is taped and then moved it afterward. This was the norm.

If you're going to start having Christmas parties on Novmber 10th, and charging a hefty price for them, the tree should be up. If the tree at AK or the Studios didn't go up until the first week of December I don't think anyone would be too upset, but the MK is the park that has been hosting paid Christmas events.

By the way, while there might be cost savings I am sure they are miniscule in comparison to the cash they rake in from these parties. One overnight crew got it done every year in the past.

Bottom line is, it sucks, it is taking away something that guests used to get in the past for the same price (just like not doing Wishes for day guests on party nights at 6pm) and it is an example of putting profits over show (bad economic times or not).

I'm so confused. Why would they need to move the Magic Kingdom Christmas Tree once it is up and decorated in the Town Square?

Disneyland's tree went up two weeks ago, and has this nifty new light show thing it does with LED's in the tree and on the garland, that matches up with the LED's in the Hub and on the Castle. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IllQtxE5rI&feature=related

The Tree at Disneyland is in the Town Square and it's huge, but is safely away from the curb and doesn't need to be moved for any parade or event once it is up. Why would the Magic Kingdom's Christmas tree be any different?

It is the filming of the parade for ABC, I beleive, that is the issue.

I think it's because they have a camera angle from the Main Street Train Station aiming down Main Street....the Christmas Tree would definitely Block that shot...

Normally, the tree gets put up in the rose garden for the parade taping. After the parade taping, they take the whole thing down and put it back up at the end of Main Street.

The reason they can't put it at the end of Main Street right away is because that's where the announcer's booth is set up for Regis to record from during the taping.

The garland is normally put up across Main Street but taken down for the parade taping weekend because the floats are too tall and it gets in the way. The garland is put back up after the parade taping is complete.

Looks like they're just trying to save the hassle of setting up the tree twice. You can see it in the rose garden here in my youtube video from last year's parade taping day.
