Trip Report No rain, no lines, no crowds, no ADR's, no fastpasses, lots of fun and pool time.

OK, so I am starting my very first trip report. We went Sept. 7-15 and stayed offsite the first night then 7 nights in a one bedroom at Bay Lake Tower. This was an anniversary trip...she has tolerated me for 31 years of marriage now...something that still amazes me.
The first day we arrived around lunch time after driving through masses of lovebugs. We got there during what I understand is the beginning of the fall lovebug season. Wife's new car, white with lots of front bumper space, was covered in the little pains in the you-know-what. We stopped at a couple of gas stations just to top off the tank and try to clean them off a bit (felt we should add a bit of gas since we were using their window cleaner and water and paper towels).
Arrived at DTD, which has become our traditional first stop, and enjoyed the afternoon. Later went to the offsite room, checked in, freshened up a bit then back to DTD for the evening.
Ate at Earl of Sandwich a couple of times on this trip. Walked around, did some shopping, looked at the construction, or I should say at this point construction preparation and deconstruction, and back to the room early after a long day.

The cast of characters for this trip are Mr. and Mrs. epcotisbest, seen here at Epcot last Wednesday with a couple of other suspicious looking characters:

We are hopeful for the changes coming to DTD, but hope it does not become too much of a shopping mall. Time will tell.
We like Rainforest Cafe and saw the remodeled volcano for the first time. It seems to me a company that talks about the environment a lot is not very environmentally friendly with all the gas used in the eruptions...just sayin'.

We have gone to WDW and not carried a camera, we have so many pics already, but decided to take my wife's little Canon point and shoot this trip. Left the Nikon DSLR at home. Quit carrying it a long time ago. The Canon did OK.

Plenty more to come, a little at a time.

One of the best things for us about staying at a DVC villa is the kitchen. We enjoy making our own meals, especially breakfast. Now I know some people would not even think about cooking on vacation, but we enjoy it and do eat better. For example, instead of a big ole breakfast buffet at WCC or Ohana or Boma or someplace where I would consume a zillion calories, here is a breakfast I made one morning when I got up especially early. It is peanut butter french toast topped with diced fruit, ham and my own sugar free syrup. OK, not the healthiest breakfast, but better than what we used to do. Gotta love those funky plates at BLT...not very practical, but fun (kinda like me!).

Our first ride of the day would be It's a Small World. It was walk on and we did it twice without the line even stopping. Crowd shot first:

Now you have to remember, this is early morning on a crowd level one day, probably about 9:45 a.m. or so by now. Lots of people went directly to New FantasyLand or Splash Mountain or Pirates first thing, so while those lines are getting through, we enjoy here:

Of course if you start out with a few trips around IASW it makes it easier to remember the song for the rest of the day, otherwise it is just so hard to recall.

Wow- I have never seen the park that empty. Amazing shot!

I hope its like that in early October!!!
It was a matter of going on a very uncrowded day, touring plan crowd level one, on a part day when most people would be coming later, then going opposite of where most folks were headed when the park first opened at 9 a.m. -- Strategery!

Now on to here. This is a beautiful area. Can only imagine how lovely it will be when the construction right beside it is completed. This too was now a walk on. We took our time and enjoyed the que. Done very nicely. One thing that cracked me up was a family coming up for their fast pass return time. The father said rather grumpily...dang, I stood at the fast pass line to get these for longer than the standby line is now. Instead of being happy about the short lines, he was upset he stood in line earlier to get a fast pass he did not need. The actual wait in line was none. We only stopped to load. Oh, and the fast pass family were long gone while we were enjoying the sights of the queing area. We like to slow down and take in the scenery...then we got off and walked right back on two more times!

OK, tell the truth...I guessing you must be thinking "What kind of fool takes a picture of this breakfast in his room?"
Again you have me laughing!! Everyone is always taking pictures of their food and this is the first TR I've read where someone has made their food in their room so I thought I'd be silly and ask for a pic. You delivered!!!! you are a well organized man. :D Love the report!

As others rush in, we savor the moment and slowly stroll under the train station, taking in the first views and just enjoy the warm hellos from cast members there to greet their guests. We always get a picture with Roy and Minnie, but I think they should leave them in their place at the flagpole. Without Roy, this would not be what it is and certainly would not be named Walt Disney World. Put Roy back I say!

The Roy statue is gone?!
