Trip Report No rain, no lines, no crowds, no ADR's, no fastpasses, lots of fun and pool time.

OK, so I am starting my very first trip report. We went Sept. 7-15 and stayed offsite the first night then 7 nights in a one bedroom at Bay Lake Tower. This was an anniversary trip...she has tolerated me for 31 years of marriage now...something that still amazes me.
The first day we arrived around lunch time after driving through masses of lovebugs. We got there during what I understand is the beginning of the fall lovebug season. Wife's new car, white with lots of front bumper space, was covered in the little pains in the you-know-what. We stopped at a couple of gas stations just to top off the tank and try to clean them off a bit (felt we should add a bit of gas since we were using their window cleaner and water and paper towels).
Arrived at DTD, which has become our traditional first stop, and enjoyed the afternoon. Later went to the offsite room, checked in, freshened up a bit then back to DTD for the evening.
Ate at Earl of Sandwich a couple of times on this trip. Walked around, did some shopping, looked at the construction, or I should say at this point construction preparation and deconstruction, and back to the room early after a long day.

The cast of characters for this trip are Mr. and Mrs. epcotisbest, seen here at Epcot last Wednesday with a couple of other suspicious looking characters:

We are hopeful for the changes coming to DTD, but hope it does not become too much of a shopping mall. Time will tell.
We like Rainforest Cafe and saw the remodeled volcano for the first time. It seems to me a company that talks about the environment a lot is not very environmentally friendly with all the gas used in the eruptions...just sayin'.

We have gone to WDW and not carried a camera, we have so many pics already, but decided to take my wife's little Canon point and shoot this trip. Left the Nikon DSLR at home. Quit carrying it a long time ago. The Canon did OK.

Plenty more to come, a little at a time.

Wow..Just reading your trip report and pics are awesome..have just upgraded my I Pad to this IOS 7 and the colours are outstanding..It's like H.D....Great story, and nice to see you married a younger girl, just like me.;)
I started to do the upgrade yesterday but decided to keep IOS 6.whatever until folks like you discover if there is a spanner in the works first. Thank you for reading.
Yes, I have a younger wife who keeps me on my toes, but does not put up with any crap....and she has grown used to my foolishness over the years. In our relationship, I keep getting older and she keeps getting prettier.

So Sept. 10 finds us up early again, breakfast in the room - thick cut peppered bacon, eggs, waffles with sugar free syrup, bagels with peach preserves and cold creamy milk - then out for a short walk over to MK. We only carry the little camera, KTTW and a bit of cash and ID. No bag check, hand free. It is going to be a great day weather wise as well. We had no idea how good the wait times were going to be.

Saw this guy again while walking to the MK. Walking to the MK is a great way to start a day!

The opening ceremony has changed a little but is still fun. I chuckle at people who tell me we are crazy for getting up so early, that they sleep in on vacation. Well they miss this, so who is crazy now? I can sleep in at home on Saturdays, but rarely do.

Mickey and the family of the day welcome us (and I suppose the other people there, but I am sure he was talking to us) to a magical day at WDW.

As others rush in, we savor the moment and slowly stroll under the train station, taking in the first views and just enjoy the warm hellos from cast members there to greet their guests. We always get a picture with Roy and Minnie, but I think they should leave them in their place at the flagpole. Without Roy, this would not be what it is and certainly would not be named Walt Disney World. Put Roy back I say!

Main Street early in the morning is one of my favorite places. I smile to myself as others rush by, taking it all in. I know today is a crowd level of one. The park closes at 7 p.m. for MNSSHP and lots and lots of people are waiting for it. We don't care for the party and will be outta here before then.

I have mentioned by distaste for all things halloween, but gotta admit this scarecrow is about as cute as the scarecrow my wife hangs out with:

We stopped by the old Main Street Bakery...something else I am gonna miss. I won't harp on Starbucks, but it just does not feel or smell the same...so long delicious, ooey gooey cinnamon sweetness. I like watching main street transportation and some of the morning activities as everyone rushes by to the New Fantasyland.

Once back home we had dinner in the room then went out to our pool and hung out there after the activities people shut it down for the evening. The water slide at BLT is very nice and the pool area is nice when it is quiet. We hung out there, read some, alternated between pool and hot tub, then came back to the room to rest a bit then go up top to see wishes from the roof. The view from the top is amazing. Pics from there later.

By now Monday was about gone. It was a very good start to the trip. We used to go full blast from sun up until well past sun down, but those days are long gone. What appeals to me now would have bored me out of my skin when we first started going as a couple some 30 plus years ago. We now cherish down time and the quiet of relaxing by the pool, reading a book or just time together...it used to be time together meant going, going, going...seeing and doing as much as possible. That is less important these days. While we do enjoy the parks, we enjoy the resorts and just being there as much, if not more, than theme park days now. Funny how time, years and a much more frail body changes things, but we are so blessed just to be able to go. Although, we are happy staying offsite as well and do enjoy those other parks in Orlando, especially SeaWorld. Did not have enough time to visit them this trip. Somehow we always find time for outlet shopping though. That will come later in the week.
I was really looking forward to a homemade dinner pic. ;)
