If you can't walk into a fast food place, that has self serve soda machines, and fill up a week after you were there, then you probably need help tying your shoes still. Not that I condone it, but it's not exactly rocket science.

Some places will stop you as they should. Here in NYC there are problems with that all the time. It is like the .54 refill policy at Starbucks. People abuse it all the time. Guess what the company told us we can now deny people the refill price if we know they have not been in the store. I have been in fastfood places here in the city that have chased people out for sneaking refills. I wouldn't put it past a worker here in the city to call the cops on repeat offenders. I also witness people being put on ban lists for sneaking refills when I lived in TX so it does happen.

I know this topic has been discussed ad nauseum before, but I'll chip in anyway. On our last trip I saw people refilling with cups at least 6 or 7 years old - it was just blatant. Even worse than that, there were people refilling 20oz. soda bottles. That is why this will eventually change to use the RFID mugs.

I agree. If it was just simply the people who knowingly or unknowingly refill prior year mugs then that is one thing. But I have seen people filling milk jug cartons, 2 liter bottles, etc.. to take back to their room. THAT is what needs to be stifled. However, in the process of stopping that garbage the people using older mugs will be stopped, or at least slowed greatly.

QUOTE] I am glad that some "beancounter" came up with this idea. He/She is saving the company money, and that way the losses are not having to be passed onto to the guests or myself by raising prices to recover the losses.[/QUOTE]

Can't say I agree. If you've been going often in the last few years... disney is really nickel and dime.
I am a big wdw fan. Lately I Go once a month and for the last 8 years 3 to 4 times a year and their price increases are outrageous. EX. In Peak Recession raised double stroller to $31 ?!

Is Sports still testing w/ the mugs? Haven't heard anything. We are staying there this Jan 2 and was curious. And yes we are on a package so it comes w/ new mugs, not looking to refill my old. However I am hoping for a new mug design for the new year.

I will give your coca-cola executive friend more clout than my Coca-Cola Enterprises friend who works in Accts Payable. Thanks for clearing that up.
It's actually a wash, Disney does pay for syrup, but coke pays to be the exclusive brand in the parks and also pays for advertisement. In the end Disney comes out ahead by a large margin

From what I heard at IAAPA, disney is interested but is thinking of waiting for their tech to be fully tested with the freestyle machines first... then slowly phase freestyle into resorts. In other news universal is phasing freestyle into their parks... possibly with the attachment installed.

As this thread is regrettably revisited, I find it once again very amusing how invested individuals get in others actions. Unless we have a ton of people who are working for the parks on this site, I am not sure where it some peoples places to get up in arms about the actions of others. Do what you feel is right, and let Disney take care of the others!

So, if you see a crime being committed, you just walk away? Or do you call the cops? After all it's not your property being stolen, so it's not your problem, right?

I'm sorry but if I see someone stealing I'm not going to just turn my head. It doesn't matter if the item is 1.00 or 500.00. Stealing is stealing.

If Disney's way of dealing with it is to raise prices, it does affect me.

??? That makes no sense compared to the quoted post. Dealing with what?? o_O They are speaking about how upset people get with other people's posts.
They are speaking about how silly it is for posters on a board to get upset with people stealing drinks from hotels. My post was in response to the idea that it doesn't affect me when other steal drinks.

Okay. That is what I get for going to work for 12 hours then trying to pay attention to these boards. I apologize. I got this confused with the other "bi***ing thread" about how jaded people are here.

Do I really want to engage myself in another refillable mug thread and waste lifetime that I won't be getting back?

Not really.
