No more characters at Liberty Tree Tavern??

Yes, unfortunately as of January 5th 2009, LTT is no longer has character dinings. This was one of my favorites too. I still love the food there, and will still go, but I've always loved the fun of the characters too.

Yep. Tis true, unfortunately. I know one of the waiter CMs at LTT and he said that he and all the others are very unhappy about the characters being taken away. A manager of some sort, I think it was either the head honcho over food service or something like that, told him personally that the characters were taken away "because that's what the guests want". I suggest writing letters and/or visiting City Hall to express your disappointment. We would have booked this restaurant for our trip next week if the characters had still been there. Instead, I'll just pop in and give my buddy a hug.

Without characters, LTT's dinner is totally skipable. Characters make the meal.

Oh, and did you hear that Boatrights won't be serving breakfast after 2/21/09?

Now can they please take the characters out of Royal Table and make it a normal restaurant again? Please!

It's what this guest wants, for sure.

I always wondered if the characters were introduced at LTT to make up for the lackluster food - since LTT has dropped them, are they now serving a decent meal?

Guests can't possibly prefer to have no shot to dine with Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy while coming to WDW flagship park!!

And yes I know not all these were at LTT and going to a monerail hotel doesn't count either.

That's what Crystal Palace was for. To keep the character meals contained in there, so as not to corrupt all the other dining establishments.

Man...do I ever hate character meals...:fork:

I believe they are still serving the same food at the same price... Can someone back me up on that??

I too have heard from various sources that reservations have taken a dive...

Having the characters at LTT was an advantage for most people probably. That would be that their children could meet them while eating dinner and they don't have to wait in the long lines to meet them, which means more time for rides!

As I understand it, Liberty Tree was always the sort of fall-back location for guests wanting character dining.
When guests called in, they mostly wanted Royal Table or Crystal Palace. Those filled up first, and guests were offered Liberty Tree as an alternate. Without that, bookings would naturally fall off, but business should ramain steady with walk-up guests.

I thought the menu was tweaked just a little bit. Friends of mine ate there recently and said the food quality was actually better than last time.

I walked up to LTT on my last trip for lunch with a friend. We waited about 20 minutes for a table and both enjoyed the pot roast and some dessert. Upon returning home, I was shocked to find out this was a Character Dining location!

We were there for over an hour (including wait) and I never saw a single character. Did the characters only appear during dinner?

I can back you up, as we just ate there this past Saturday. It was the same one-price family style meal served at your table. While the food was good, I was definitely surprised that they would keep this type of meal and price without the characters. It definitely felt like something was missing, as the food itself is what you typically find at a character meal. I was hoping they would follow the lead of their lunch menu which we've always enjoyed.

I'm glad we tried it this time, but we'll go elsewhere this summer, especially at that price!
