I don't want to start any rumors but I noticed that while surfing the WDW main site today that MNSSHP is not listed under special events.

The page I'm referring to is here

I know that dates have not been annouced yet but they have MVMCP listed along with other annual events for the parks. I'm hoping this is just an oversite on their part as I've never attended MNSSHP before and we will be there this fall.

That's because they are making plans for MESHP, Mickey's Extremely Scary Halloween Party, and they want to keep it hush hush until they are ready to sell....:animwink:

Just Kidding, I know nothing about this but couldn't resist the pun....

I spoke to someone at Disney about MNSSHP last week, and was asking her when the dates would be released. She said the dates should be released in May or June, and never said anything about it being cancelled or anything.

I hope this is just bad rumor. We absolutely love the MNSSHP. We are going this year in December, because I have never been with the parks decked out for Christmas, but next year, we switch back to Sept/Oct -- since we love MNSSHP.

two words for ya ... CASH COW ..... people pay extra to go into the park that they already paid a ticket to get into .... umm ... no, they aren't going to cancel MNSSHP ... as long as people pay to get in, the Disney money making machine will still take it from them .....

I agree with those who are sure it won't be or hasn't been canceled. I didn't want to start any rumors I do find it odd though that it's not listed on the website.

But as most of us know, the website is certainly not one of the best parts of Disney :)

HAHA, when cows fly...they'll cancel MNSS.

Slight rumor of them beginning in August this year...however, I think someone finally got their head screwed on properly...and figured out that would be absolutely absurd. Even though people would do it. But it will be even earlier this year...so probably EARLY Sept with be the first ones. Maybe once or twice a week until Oct.

You know...come to think of it. If MNSS was in July...people would go.

Well, considering we just found out about the PPP in May/June, it could be another month or two before Halloween Plans are announced.

Usually, dates for MNSSHP are announced sometime in April. August as a starting point sounds a bit far-fetched to me, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if lots of people actually did go then! :p

It does sound like they are planning to expand the number of dates that the Halloween party is held. IIRC, they didn't start holding the party in mid-September until 2006. Also, they had one of the MNSSHPs on November 2, 2 days after Halloween. It would be great if they could do that again this year, especially for guests who are unable to make it to the party on an earlier date! :animwink:

If I am remembering correctly, I think Lou Mongello's podcast mentioned that it may start in August, which is absurd. August is summer, people, summer. I am not ready for holidays yet. I also heard that MVMCP will start immediately after MNSSHP and last until late January. AGain ridiculous. I love the holidays more than anyone around but does it have to be 6 months out of the year!!??!!

I'm sure it won't be cancelled. It is awesome and brings in a lot of $$. It also brings in a lot of Halloween fans. Maybe they are just waiting a bit to put it out there, trying to decide on which dates to to Halloween and the P&P Party. But, if it were to begin in the summer...i'd go!! :)

But you can buy the ticket for MNSSHP and just go into the park at 4, and not have to have another park ticket....something I learned and might use next time to save that day that we could have used elsewhere.

I heard that they're going to start MVMCP in Sept., concurrent with MNSSHP, which will actually begin immediately after the Independence Day celebration, which will immediately follow the Easter celebration, which will begin the third week of February, right after MVMCP ends--so there you go, year-round celebrations!;)

I agree completely! October for Halloween and from Thanksgiving through New Years for Christmas. If they want to do the parties at other times of year (reference "cash cow" comment above) they should go with P&P or other non-holiday specific themes. As long as it doesn't cut into regular operating hours, I'm ok with it. Hopefully they won't ever get so greedy they cut regular operating hours to offer more hard ticket events.
