There are lots of people who aren't losing their homes and are actually looking for outlets to be entertained. I'm actually doing better as a result of the economic situation. My mortgage comes due for renewal in August and I'm looking at dropping my interest rate by a full 2 percent, I'm in a secure job and have just ratified a Collective Agreement that ensures a 1.5% increase in each of the next three years.

You're a Canadian. No offense, but you don't count!
Things are usually considerably better north of the border because you tend to elect leaders with brains and actually enforce the same laws on the wealthy and big business as you do on Joe Average. I like Canada!

Disney incentives right now take some of the sting out of the exchange rate, but I'd go anyway. You're right, an incentive doesn't do much for someone who simply can't afford to go, but why would Disney not do what they can to encourage those who can?

Agreed. My point is that fewer and fewer people can afford to go, no matter the promos offered. BTW, why aren't YOU staying onsite for that Buy 4, Get 3 Free deal?

Actually, my biggest issue with the current downturn is that your economy went in the toilet, but our dollar devalued by 20% compared to yours as a result?!?!?!? Our banks are certainly more regulated here. But our economy is still impacted mainly because of the auto sector.

I'm off-site next weekend because it's a short-notice quick trip on the cheap. Down Friday, back Monday. Flying on points and staying with my Ex-In-Laws for free. My regular August trip I'm staying at Beach Club using a 40%-off pin.

What do you expect?

As the world's only 'Super Power' we've taken everyone down with us to some degree ... even the Chinese.

Boy, the ex-in laws still tolerate you enough to let you stay ... I am impressed! ... As for the BC, if I were you -- and if it's available for same price -- I'd switch over to the BW. BC is really showing signs of wear, tear and neglect and the rooms were last redone in 2003 ... BW has all new rooms in the Inn. New upscale bedding, new big screen TVs, new furniture etc ... just a well-intentioned suggestion.

There are a few of us actually:wave: Well, at least two:lookaroun

You should keep that quiet if you'd like to move up in the company.

You may also be looked at as simply a 'challenge' to some members of the club. (Did he just type that?!?!? ... Sorry, I should come with a bluntness warning.)

If they come read Magic, I'm screwed anyway.

So far, everyone has respected my straightness.

This is no surprise. Disney's stock has been dropping steadily for quite awhile.

It will be interesting to see if Iger gives more incentives.

Cuts wouldn't surprise me, but I hope they avoid this.

Not so.

About 4 months ago, there was something called a financial crisis that hit the world markets... and caused most stocks, including Disney's, to decline anywhere from 30 to 60%. Disney's stock, the 20 months prior to that, had been holding its own in the $32-$37 range with plusses for Pirate movies doing well.

Since the sudden fall off 4 months ago...its been hanging around the low $20s to $19 per share.

How much of Disney's overall revenue do Themeparks account for? I mean is an entertainment conglomerate, multiple business lines. How much of their bottom is directly fed by the themeparks?

For fiscal 2008
Media was $16,000
Parks and Resorts was $11,600
Studio Entertainment was $7,300
Consumer Products was $2,800
Total $37,800
(in millions)

Here's an idea. How about getting rid of the seasonal "premiums" on the resorts and make it cost the same amount to stay on Disney property regardless of if it's "adventure season" or "Premier season." Even with the 7 for 4 it costs a whole lot more to stay on Disney property during March or in the middle of the summer than it does in January or September. With people having spring break and such during March, it'd be nice to take advantage of the 7 for 4 deal at a nice cheap price.

Just because there is a deal doesn't mean that people are going to run out to Disney when it still costs an arm and a leg to stay at a value resort in the middle of the summer. That would really help out the little man and heck, more people would probably go if a Disney vacation in July cost a fraction of what it does now.

Because that doesn't make any sense. Those seasons, even in a bad economy, are still going to be booked at a higher rate, and thus deserve the premium thats being charged. Its the 'slow' seasons that would slow down even more.

 I was very good friends with all of the rest of my Ex's family before I ever met her. They were more angry with her when she left me than I was! I'm currently keeping an eye on the Ex-In-Laws property here while they're Snow-Birding in Kissimmee.

As for BC, I'm gradually trying to stay at every resort on property, BC happens to be next on the list.

Numbers just came out AFTER the bell, of course.

Analysts expected 51 cents per share and Disney missed it by six cents ... Iger will be spinning on CNBC at 8 p.m. Eastern.
