No filet mignon during free dining rumor??

Does anyone have confirmation or debunking of an internet rumor that the table serve restaurants are removing filet mignon or beef tenderloin from their menus during free dining? If so, do they plan on bringing it back after free dining? Posts I've read elsewhere imply this goes for the signatures as well as the standard table service places.

Just trying to work with facts, so I figured folks here would know . . .

Near as I can tell, the rumor started with an eyewitness report that Kona removed the filet and said most other WDW restaurants were doing the same. Some seem to say Le Cellier will keep it because they use Canadian subsidized beef. From there, it looks like most people are making assumptions - that's why I posted here. I hope a CM or someone with more firm information could clarify the picture.

So far Cast Members at Le Cellier have not been told that the tenderloin or mignon will be removed from the menu for free dining. Also, the beef is not subsidized, Canadian beef is very expensive to have transported to the US.:)

For any of you using Free Dining to get your Filet Mignon...serves you right...looking to eat like a king for nothing!

As for the rest of us...such as AP holders who can't really ever take advantage of free dining...If we ask for a Filet Mignon...we will get one...regardless of if it's on the menu or not... :king:

oh dear I hope this isn't true! We leave in two weeks and my husband is already talking about getting a filet mignon from Kona, his favorite restaurant!

The filets have already been removed from almost all of the restaurants whether on the dining plan or not. :(

That sounds crazy to me, but Disney has been known to do some crazy things. The Tollhouse ice cream sandwiches come to mind. I would be highly disappointed as I only eat filet when I have steak. Plus we paid for the upgrade to the deluxe this time so it would probably irritate me a little more knowing that we actually paid for an upgrade to get less.

I'll be watching this to see what develops.

If true, that's complete crap. Man I HATE the free dinning! You can't get a reservation anymore, they cut down their menu and remove premium foods. What about the rest of us who'd like to have a meal now and then who can't because they're booked six months in advance to the gills and if we do manage a ressie, the menu is stripped. :mad:

That was my understanding as well. Nothing to do with "Free DDP", just a decision at WDW. Glad to hear it's still available at Le Cellier, I'll be content. :D

I have no issue with booking ADRs six months out. It's just part of the anticipation for me.

And for the record, there is DDP for AP holders and DDP for DVC, so the only impact is that people have to plan further ahead. Even if there were no DDP, I'd still be booking 180 [or currently 90] days out and getting what I want. :shrug:

Sympathy doesn't come easy... :wave:

this will be my 8th trip in sept, which i booked as part of a bounceback promotion, and i hardly think im getting something for nothing. and ap holders can now get dining without paying for a day so find something else to whine about

Very funny! :lol: I do love my fruits and veggies but I do like a good steak every now and then. I surely intended to eat one while at WDW. I guess I'll have to get mine in at Victoria and Alberts. Assuming they will have some sort of selection in the way of a quality steak.

who's whining?

I've taken 6 trips since becoming a passholder in 06. saved boocoo money on all my ressies because of it. so whoopdeedoo to your 8 trips.

I was just saying not to complain if you only book your trips during free dining and you can't get a mignon anymore! go get some chicken nuggets or something and stop taking up all the ADR spaces! :fork:
