Trip Report No Bug Movie...promise! *COMPLETED*

It is with great excitement I sit here in the Atlanta airport, Disney bound with my middle child. While this is my 5th WDW trip this year (I *may* have an addiction problem...) my DS (henceforth known as Drumr) has not been to the world in 3 years...before MagicBands! Don't feel too sorry for him...his first trip was at age 2 and he has been numerous times since. (Warning to parents of young kids...be careful what traditions you start!)

Thanks for sharing your trip and sharing all the photos. It rained last year when we left Disney and I said the same thing you did so that made me chuckle.
We have DDP just quick serve this year but in the past we have been told we can't exchange the meals for snacks - is that now possible? And is there anything specific we need to do? Thanks

One quick serve is equivalent to three snacks. I told the cashier I was making the swap. Not sure if the exchange needs to be all in the same transaction or not, but my guess is yes.

Pin purchased, we returned to the hub to find a spot for Hallowishes. We only had to wait a few minutes for the show to begin.

Now before you start with oohs and ahhs, it was at this moment it began to pour. We didn't want to open our umbrellas out of courtesy to those around us (we were shoulder-to-shoulder at this point) so we got wet. The sky was so foggy (combination of clouds and smoke) that most of the perimeter fireworks were hidden from view. So disappointing.

We had planned to stay for the 11:15 pm Boo To You Parade...it was raining during the time the first parade was set to start, and since we were not near the parade route, we aren't even sure there was an early parade. With the ground now soaked, the headless horseman would not ride in the late parade...assuming there would be a late parade. We decided it was time to cut our losses and go home. :arghh:

We were there Friday night too. The rain really put a damper on our plans. I believe we were in Cosmic Ray's at the same time waiting out the rain. :(

Wow! You guys did a ton of stuff today on your last day. Well done!! There's so much to comment on that I don't know where to start. Well, let's see. I love the Halloween decorations everywhere. I love the food pictures you've shared. I also share Drumr's love of roller coasters and was vicariously enjoying the thrills of the rides while he went on them. He sure looks happy in the pictures!! Oh, I also love Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet, and was glad to see that Drumr got in a picture with all of them.
Being in a park at opening really helps when you want to experience a lot of attractions (of course that means sacrificing sleep, which I am still trying to catch up on!) We did get a lot in on our last day, especially when you factor in multiple rides on the same attraction!

I love the MK Halloween decor even more than the Christmas decor. It just seems to fit well with the Main Street ambiance. And I forgot to take pictures of all the Jack 'o Lanterns .

Drumr did look very happy in the character photos...when I made that exact comment to him, he replied: "It's always easier to smile when you're not the only one in the picture." Touché .

Thanks, @DisneyJeff!

I hope you and your party still had fun anyway! While missing Boo To You was a big disappointment, we did get to enjoy many other aspects of the party.

As for you, I'm trying to figure out what you "indulged" in, in one of the gift shops!! ;)

We have reached the part of the trip report where the title finally makes sense :). We visited AK a few months after its grand opening. We had no idea what to expect. The Tree of Life was beautiful and intriguing and we excitedly got in the queue for the attraction inside. "A Bug's Life" had not yet been released in theaters, so the characters were unfamiliar.

We thought we would see a gentle, quaint movie...otherwise I would never have taken my bug-squeamish children. Halfway through the show, Drumr stands up and bellows, "GET ME OUT OF HERE!!!"

This was before guests were allowed to leave the theater during the performance. Drumr and I stood off to the side and I told him to close his eyes for the duration.

He has never been back inside. And a mom always keeps her promises.
