Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

i give MK a thumbs down imo, but thats just me. A super meh ride for an IP that could have been so much more...

I've rode it at Osaka. It was a crushing disappointment. As the poster above says, you think with that IP it could have been so much more.

I can't believe Donkey Kong will be such a short coaster. Is this confirmed? The creator of Nintendo is involved in these projects, and i'd be surprised if he allowed such corner cutting like that.

A lot of the perceived "shortcomings" of the attractions are because of Nintendo. Mario Kart ride too slow? Blame Nintendo. The design team at Universal wanted to lean more into thrill and less into the interactivity, but Nintendo said no. DK Coaster is too tame? Also blame Nintendo. With all of the restrictions and mandates imposed upon them, I think the Universal Creative team did a good job. Is it my dream Mario theme park? No, but it was never going to be.

Isn’t that how literally every attraction is judged? As some examples saying Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Na’vi River Journey feel too short comes with the implication that what you “wanted” were longer rides.
I never knew I never wanted really short rides.

The creator of Nintendo is long dead as the company was founded in 1889 as a card company. Shigeru Miyamoto is the creator of Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, and Pikmin.

Am I being needlessly pedantic? Yes, absolutely ;)

The DK Coaster seems to me like an armchair "imagineering" (or Universal Creative-ing rather) idea that they ran with but they were too far into the project when they realize the concept doesn't really work that well.

As others said, you can clearly see the real track. What you can't really see is the gaps in the fake track that you are supposedly jumping over. Also, to emphasize all these fake track effects, it ends up being not a very good coaster with lots of slowdowns, blocks, and small elements. Oh, and low capacity. It also just isn't all that immersive how the "temple" is kind of just a wall you go behind. It comes off like the whole thing was designed to look cool offride and that was the main focus, with the on-ride experience being of secondary importance. I hope I'm wrong.

I feel like an all indoor coaster that foregoes trying to mimic the jumping in favor of being a better coaster and a more immersive experience would have been preferred.

I do think that the POV is too low down compared to where your head actually is because it's clearly not supposed to be recorded at the moment. I wonder what you actually see when sat up in the vehicle properly

My issue is that the jumping track gag looks cool from the ground but doesn’t work on the ride. You can see both tracks easily.
It's hard to judge that from that POV since you can barely even see the track. They also had to take some of the track ties and other theming elements off in USJ which exposes the real track more, maybe because of clearance issues? Hopefully they are able to find a solution to that but whatever the reason is I hope we don't have that same problem in Orlando!

From what I’ve heard the Orlando version is larger. The layout is the same from what I know but everything is upscaled, which hopefully means that scenes will be more fleshed out and the fake track will have more room to do its thing. For example I know that the monkey head on top of the temple breathes fog in Japan but in Orlando it will be a true waterfall because of the extra space. I’d assume the same principle may be true for other parts of the attraction

Gotta say from what I see of Nintendo world so far call me unimpressed not so much with the aesthetics but with the attractions. I mean the DK coaster looks meh at best, and the Mario ride is a mid tier ride for me.

I think Epic will be a park of some great attractions and some big misses. They clearly spent money in some areas and went cheap in others.

You are being pedantic yes, but I will be as well. You wrote in bold as if it was a logical conclusion that someone founding a company in 1989 must be dead. ;) There are plenty of people who have founded companies older than that who are still alive today. The founder passing away is not because it was founded in 1989.
