Honestly I like the way this looks a LOT more than how they did the Mushroom Kingdom. Though I have not seen any of them in person yet.

It has a very upbeat vibe that harkens back to what Adventureland used to do well. Glad they leaned into it with the music and even in the video release you can hear the atmosphere score. At least it seems like it.

All of this, plus it looks like they were directly recreating the modern games (Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze). It looks like you're in their world, not an old-school video game version of their world which is the approach they took for the Mushroom Kingdom.

Then again, the Donkey Kong Country games have always had more realistic visuals whereas most Mario games have abstract visuals.

The approach they took was an exact version of the 3D Land/3D World artstyle. No coincidence that these came out the exact same time as Returns and Tropical Freeze.

Yeah we all need to remember the initial deal was made almost 10 years ago. Luckily the aesthetic for Mario is still a bit timeless even if lifted directly from one specific style.

I posted this part in the Epic thread already, but Iā€™m counting a theoretical capacity of 800pp/h. The only attraction that guests actually strongly care about in that range is Peter Pan. I wonder if it was having reliability issues and thatā€™s what caused the delay in Japan? Not worrying reliability, but itā€™s bad capacity even if itā€™s optimally running all day.

It shouldnā€™t be as bad in Epic as Iā€™m sure USJ crowds will shortly demonstrate.

If it did not have an entire park of newness, not a coaster and not the second big ticket of a land, I would say the waits would be much worse, but it will be a good supporting second banana(pun intended) that surprises and delights as a family coaster.

Fun and wild of pop culture that we will have Kong and Donkey Kong in the same resort.

Especially with the lawsuit history where Universal tried to sue Nintendo for copyright infringement. Oh how the turn tablesā€¦

I don't think dk will b3 a game changer, I think the hp and monsters rides are supposed to be the big ones. The dk coaster is a very well themed 45 second all ages coaster, still will prob be really cool

The Mario Kart attraction i think we can all agree has been a crushing disappointment, not met with expectation judging by my own experience and reviews from others.

Let's hope Donkey Kong is a really game changer.
I think "crushing disappointment" is just a titch hyperbolic. Both of the current installations of the attraction are consistently in the upper 80% with their GSATs.

That points more towards a "home run" than a "crushing disappointment".

Judging an attraction based on what you wanted them to build and not on what they actually built is just negative rhetoric.

He's just continually surprised it was built at all.

Isnā€™t that how literally every attraction is judged? As some examples saying Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Naā€™vi River Journey feel too short comes with the implication that what you ā€œwantedā€ were longer rides.
