It has a very upbeat vibe that harkens back to what Adventureland used to do well. Glad they leaned into it with the music and even in the video release you can hear the atmosphere score. At least it seems like it.

All of this, plus it looks like they were directly recreating the modern games (Donkey Kong Country Returns and Tropical Freeze). It looks like you're in their world, not an old-school video game version of their world which is the approach they took for the Mushroom Kingdom.

Then again, the Donkey Kong Country games have always had more realistic visuals whereas most Mario games have abstract visuals.

The approach they took was an exact version of the 3D Land/3D World artstyle. No coincidence that these came out the exact same time as Returns and Tropical Freeze.

Yeah we all need to remember the initial deal was made almost 10 years ago. Luckily the aesthetic for Mario is still a bit timeless even if lifted directly from one specific style.

I posted this part in the Epic thread already, but I’m counting a theoretical capacity of 800pp/h. The only attraction that guests actually strongly care about in that range is Peter Pan. I wonder if it was having reliability issues and that’s what caused the delay in Japan? Not worrying reliability, but it’s bad capacity even if it’s optimally running all day.

It shouldn’t be as bad in Epic as I’m sure USJ crowds will shortly demonstrate.

If it did not have an entire park of newness, not a coaster and not the second big ticket of a land, I would say the waits would be much worse, but it will be a good supporting second banana(pun intended) that surprises and delights as a family coaster.

Especially with the lawsuit history where Universal tried to sue Nintendo for copyright infringement. Oh how the turn tables…
