Nintendo partnering with Universal to make attractions.

They've certainly had bigger flops.

It's a flop. It's taken over 2.5 years for Nintendo to make a profit on the Wii U. If that's not a flop then I don't know what is. The Wii U has been out since 2012 and has sold less then 10 million units. The PS4 has been out since 2013 and has sold over 23 million units. The Wii U is by definition a flop albeit not as much of a flop as the Gamecube and N64. Those consoles were humongous flops. The N64 sold a paltry 32 million in comparison to the PS1. The GameCube sold 22 million units again in comparison to over 100 million PS2's sold and 24 million Xbox's.

For those trying to debate nintendo's relevance please save your breath and time. They are a company that has managed to stay profitable through years based off IP alone. Mario and Luigi are household names and again still remain very popular today, I would argue they are almost as recognized as Mickey Mouse at this point. As for what the possibilities this could bring to uni is insanely huge. This deal really is on the scale of potter, and trust me when I say that people will be there, if they can't keep amiibo figures on the shelves long enough I shutter to think what exclusive nintendo merch at a park could entail for fans.

Nintendo is irrelevant in the home console world but handhelds are where they shine. If they could apply the strategies they use for handhelds, their home consoles could be successes. I totally agree though that Nintendo has a vast library of franchises to utilize in the parks. They've got F-Zero, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Pokemon (albeit a franchise they only 1/3 of), Star Fox, Kirby, Fire Emblem, and the list goes on.

Nintendo is a company who rivals Disney in its library of characters. With Harry Potter and Nintendo at Universal, attendance will soar and this will greatly benefit both companies. Heck this will even benefit Disney. When Universal overtakes DHS and EPCOT in a few years, Disney will finally give those parks the attention they need.

I don't want to deviate the thread too much, but USF will have overtaken DHS long before these Nintendo rides open.

Even sooner? I thought it'd be a bit longer. Well DHS is certainly in trouble then (well even more trouble than I thought it was).

Just now after 20+ years in the business are they starting to let certain characters get third party games (Hyrule Warriors, Etc) and even then it's kept under tight supervision and made sure to be of the highest caliber. If Uni got them, they promised something rather groundbreaking.
I agree, but there is one exception........

UOR is firing on all cylinders right now. They are not a threat the the juggernaut that is WDW. They aren't trying to kill WDW any more than they are trying to kill the Orange County Convention Center. UOR has just over 20% of the market share and they believe they have the talent and resources to get a bit more of that.

BTW, Universal Creative actively started headhunting creative talent for an upcoming hiring spree. But pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Agreed, again, its more the crappy rides that ****es me off. Kinda like how disappointing going to Pizza Planet was in DHS. Kinda like how the whole 'plan' we've heard for Pixar Place is. If you truly think that what Uni did with the Simpsons was great, Id have to equate you to the equivalent of a Pixie duster (whatever that is for Uni).

Why? You go in Moe's and you feel like you're in Moe's. Uni did an amazing job considering that The Simpson very marginally deserved it's own "land" in the first place.

You go inside Pizza Planet and it has literally nothing to do with the Pizza Planet from the movies besides that it sells pizza and has arcade games. It's absolutely pathetic.

Here Disney is with incredible properties like Monsters and Incredibles (and a dozen more) that deserve rides and yet does absolutely nothing. Heck, Disney can't even spend the minimal money to re-theme the HISTK play area to Bug's Life - and it's been 20 years!!

How you can't give kudos to Uni for what they're doing with their properties is beyond me.

THEIR properties? The Simpsons is owned by FOX, Harry Potter by J.K., Toon Lagoon by King Features Syndicate, Transformers by Hasbro, etc. The only recent thing they've done with something they own is Despicable Me.

Prediction- the Nintendo rides will be great, except every now and then they'll stop working until someone takes a ride vehicle out and blows on it.

Also, there could possibly be game breaking glitches that screw up your Elite Four Hall of Fame and add 120 items to the sixth spot in your bag...
