nightmare before christmas ride to replace hunch back theatre?

So Jedi Master and Corrus are wrong in the other thread where they say this space will eventually be turned into a ride, in the long run?

here is the thread: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=275590&page=2

And here are the quotes:

CORRUS: I didn't say "straight away"... but it will be demolished... they need the space for something else...

Jedimaster: Nope. Something else. Something a little more current.

Nanna: A show or a ride.... Jedi's response: In the long run, a ride. As JROK said, for now, a show.

So, Lee, who is telling the truth?????

Last Winter (2006) I said MGM was getting Block Party Bash, which was true.

Last September (2007) I said MGM would be getting American Idol, which as we can see is true.

This January (2008) I'm saying DHS will be getting a HSM stage show in the Backlot Theater (old Hunchback), which will also turn out, at this point at least, true.

I don't think either Muppets or NBC has a limited shelf-life. Muppets probably is more popular overall than NBC, and more accessible to small children (who might be afraid of NBC), but an NBC dark ride opens the door for some sort of potential halloween event at DHS. If the rumors of the halloween event aren't true (I've expressed serious doubt that they are, since I don't think a Universal-esque 'horror nights' event is appropriate on any WDW property, even DHS, and a more family-friendly event would cannabalize MNSSHP), then go for the Muppets ride.

Um... :veryconfu As far as I read, we are saying the same thing. He admits that it will be demolished for a future purpose but currently it will be a theater. I quite literally said it will be repurposed after its time as a theater is done. I'm not sure what you are asking if we are both saying the same thing... But maybe I missed something...

Jedimaster: Nope. Something else. Something a little more current.

This was said in context to the question of a Nightmare Before Christmas attraction taking the place of the Hunchback theater. As I said, it won't be such an attraction that will eventually replace the theater. My hint leads to a different, more recently established property of the Walt Disney Company. I didn't say anything that would be disagreeing with Corrus or JROK...

I think Nightmare Beofre Christmas is an untapped market. They would do well if they had something on this, besides transforming the Haunted Mansion like it during Christmas time. (But it is pretty awesome!!)

The market is tapped.. They seem to have some Nightmare Before Christmas items near the Haunted Mansion and at the villains store at Disney's Hollywood Studios.. I think a Dark ride would be great...

Maybe cause I'm partial to the darker side of Disney...Something Wicked This Ways Comes, Watcher in the Woods, Return to Oz anyone???

All great movies BTW. Stuff based on them in Disney parks, besides Disneyland Paris' Storybookland, could be spectacular.

And yes, Figment571 a Tron ride would be wonderful.

Jedi, I think what he was trying to say is Lee said the theater was always meant to be a theater and will remain always a theater, but you and Corrus say the theater is meant to be demolished and not remain a theater... Sounds like the two of you have reports that contradict Lee... I was a bit confused to this as well...

So steriotypical.
I'm no goth or emo, and I love the movie to death.

I really do hope this ride gets the green light!

Easy up. I was just stating that there was a rather large number of goths that are into the movie. I wasn't labelling anyone here, nor was I labelling myself, as I also love the movie.

am I one of the only ones who thinks NBC is not that great of an idea. Now, granted, I've never seen the CA version of the overlay or anything...but NBC seems to have a much more cult following than anything. Since it's been so long since it was first released, it's not really in the main stream anymore, so general audiences aren't going to connect with it as much. I mean, of course, I could be dead wrong, but it just doesn't seem like the soundest idea for Disney to do. And maybe that's why we haven't seen anything yet based off of NBC. (besides the overlay)

Yes, you are the only one who thinks that.

I saw NBC for the first time this past October with my family, we went to the 3D showing and the theater was full of families, their kids and teens.

As for the reason Disney's never pursued anything other than the overlay in Disneyland? I've heard there was a falling out between Disney and Tim Burton and Burton didn't want NBC to be commercialized. I've also heard they've since patched things up which is probably why the movies have been re-released each of the last two years and why there's now active talk of an attraction an overlay or both at the Studios.

It's no big secret Disney wants a little scarier hard ticket Halloween event to capture the crowds that attend Halloween Horror Nights at Universal and like I said this franchise could definitely go a long way in launching this.

To clear up the confusion, as nobody was actually contradicting anybody else....

Right now, the theater is remaining a theater. No doubt about that.
However, in the not so distant past there were several concepts that would have made use of that space, along with the "Al's Toy Barn" area, for more of a ride type attraction. Nothing came of those concepts, and it was decided to improve the theater and use it for various events.
In the future, it is entirely possible that the structure may be knocked down to make way for something else. Just not very soon.

Thanks for clarifying that....

So, Lee, who is telling the truth?????

Remember that Disney changes, postpones, and shelves plans all the time. Several of us here who are "in the know" often post information that is later changed or dropped completely.

Example: Tinkerbell was first going to have a M&G in the old Fantasyland Skyway station, then in Toontown, then back to the Skyway station (as recently as last year); and now she has been moved again (no, I won't say where). People have reported it both ways for almost two years. Nobody has been lying; Disney changes things faster than the Florida weather does.

EDIT: Lee beat me.

I believe that they should remove all the Pixar stuff from the muppets area, make that Muppets Land, with Muppets GMR and w/e they had planned restraunt and so forth. Then, they should build a NMBC ride in a section devoted to rides that celebrate holidays, movies, about holidays --> holiday land or something along those lines.

They should make a Nightmare Before Christmas ride...that would be great :) I would ride it all day and get my friends to come and get me later lol

I really feel like the lack of a Nightmare Before Christmas attraction is a huge missed opportunity for Disney. Yes, they have the holiday makeover in Anaheim. But a full-fledged attraction at the Disney Hollywood Studios would be exactly the shot in the arm that Florida's floundering also-ran park desperately needs.

I hardly think that the number seven position makes it a "floundering also-ran park".
