Nice places to dine

Since my husband and I are going to go alone this time to WDW, can some of you give us ideas on nice places to eat. We would like to try places that we normally couldn't afford with kids. The Rainforest is tops on our list to try. How much can we expect to pay for a meal and about eight beers? Other restaurant suggestions will be greatly appreciated. We are casual folks, though, Victoria and Alberts isn't our cup of tea. Thanx

Our last visit cost $38 for Cobb salad, Rain sticks, Kid's meal, soft drinks, and 1 beer. That included our discount as Rainforest Cafe members, and tip. I suspect the beers will be around $50. Be warned-the portions are HUGE! I've never been able to eat more than 1/2 of the salad. You might want to share, and save money (and room) for the beers! Must keep our priorities in order!:D

Also, they have some interesting tropical drinks, if you like that sort of thing. Pricy, though!

Debbie, that's $50 for 8 beers!!! Also, you can order anything from the menu while sitting "under the mushroom" (the bar.) It's usually faster to get a seat there than at a table, and you don't have to wait as long for your drinks! (not that I care how long it takes to get a nice, icy, brew after walking around in the steamy Florida heat!)

I have always wanted to try Artist Point at the Wilderness Lodge. I have heard that the food and atmosphere are great, especially if you are looking for a nice romantic night out.

You might want to try Ohana at the Polynesian. That's one of my favorites. It's very festive and friendly, and can also be romantic. The food is wonderful and the views of the castle are great too - try to request a window seat. :)

My fav places to eat have to all be in the world showcase at EPCOT. The one that stands out as my fav is in Japan, its the Mitsukoshi steak house or sumthin along those lines. I'm not sure if thats the actual name thats whats on the chop stick package(chopsticks=great souvinear and cheap too actually free!). I wouldnt say the food was the best(it wasnt bad just not the best) but you cant beat the experience of having your food cooked right in front of you! Another fav was in Italy....I have no clue what its called.

P.S. I dont want you to get the impression from my post that the food was bad there its excellent its just that I'm not too keen on a restaurant where I cant get some ketchup for my steak.......lol :D

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ESPN Club. I love the hotdogs, and just sitting at the bar, taking in a cool beer (or two or three). It is also a great place to take a break from EPCOT.

During our last visit, it was suggested to make priority seating at BOMA the buffet at Animal Kingdom Logde. This was one of the most unique dining experiences I have had. I highly recommend it, a bargain at $19.95. I am not a buffet person, and a very picky eater, there was lots of choices. The best part was getting to roam the AKL which is not accessible to any resort guest except those with PS!

San Angel Inn inside the mexican pavillion is soooo nice and the food is very good. The same for the Maya Grill.
Another good one is Ohana´s......GREAT!! Love the food! Go for dinner so the "cousins" serve you until you say "stop!".

Out of The World, do not miss Bahama Breeze on International Drive.

For beers and chicken wings, try the Ale House near DD. If you go on monday, you´ll see it full of CM´s! ;)
On tuesday, then go to JellyRolls for the dueling pianos... great fun!

Buen provecho!

I worked at Disney for apx. 3 years total and I LOVE to eat. If you just want casual dining I would suggest, Wolfgang Puck's Xpress at Downtown disney. They have the greatest Chicken Ceaser Sandwhich. *stomach growls* (hush boy!) Or if you're at Epcot, the Garden Grill inside the Land. It's a rotating restaurant and all you can eat for like $12/lunch $14/dinner. It's SOOO GOOD! When they can, the food that is served comes from the greenhouses immediatly beneath the restaurant in the "Living with the Land" attraction. Food is Chicken, Catfish, steak, Salad and amazing Apple Crisp for desert. My father hasn't quit talking about his time there.

As for the more pricier, (but much better) I would suggest Spoodles as someone already did. It was better when they had their other chef, but this guy they have now is good too. And I would give my left hand to go back and eat at Chefs de France in the French Pavilion at Epcot. Their service, location and menu is the best I have ever seen. I like this place much better than the Artist Point. Try the grilled salmon over artichoke hearts, with a nice glass of Merlot. TO DIE FOR!!!

I have to add that the California Grill on top of the Contemporary resort has won readers choice for best restaurant in Orlando for a few years now. I have never ate there, but a lot of people say that's ther favorite. Make sure you have reservations at least one day in advance.

Several restaurants that I return to every visit because I LOVE...
#1...O'Hana's (request seating in the main room)
#2...Cap May's Clam Bake
#3...Brown Derby (love that Cobb Salad & grapefruit cake!)
A trip to disney would not be right without each of the above!! My family plans one nice meal per day at WDW. We have tried a bunch but have to have the three above!!

For menus and pricing for almost every retaurant check out the following web site...

Just a note on Spoodle's. We've eaten there twice, and the food was very good, but we were put off by the noise level on both visits. On both occasions we were meeting friends/relatives from the area, and really couldn't carry on a conversation in normal tones. Both times were on Saturday night, so it might be quieter on a weeknight.

That place was great! We went there for a character breakfast and the food was really good. Since I graduated high school in June, I got the characters to sign my Mickey Mouse graduation cap ^_^.

Ohter good places are the California Grill in the Contemporary (it's very cool to see the MK fireworks from the roof!), The Plaza in the MK, Captain's Tavern at the Carribbean Beach, Alfredo's in Epcot, Hollywood & Vine at MGM, and, for a quick bite to eat, the Electric Umbrella & the Sunshine Season Food Fair in Epcot.

Any restaurant at the Grand Floridian beside the 1900 Park Faire. Also the California Grill is quite nice especially with the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom at night.
