Nice places to dine

Since my husband and I are going to go alone this time to WDW, can some of you give us ideas on nice places to eat. We would like to try places that we normally couldn't afford with kids. The Rainforest is tops on our list to try. How much can we expect to pay for a meal and about eight beers? Other restaurant suggestions will be greatly appreciated. We are casual folks, though, Victoria and Alberts isn't our cup of tea. Thanx

JAY my dear, if you had read the post, you would have seen that Debbie was asking me how much a dinner for 2, including 8 beers, would cost. I gave her an ESTIMATE. I've never had 8 beers with dinner! ;)

I have seen several WDW Books give the Canadian Steak House a bad review. (Of course they also give O'Hana's a less than thrilling review and it is my family's favorite restaurant.) Do you disagree and if so what makes it great? I had always discounted going there because of the reviews.

I am always looking for great food (or a great diet) but what I mean is what makes it great? Like at Brown Derby it is the cobb salad and grapefuit cake. Is there a special do not live without meal there?

I know how to get the menus but that doesn't tell you what is especially good at that restaurant. Are you saying that there is not really a favorite item your family loves...just like the restaurant overall? If so thats wonderful too. Just asking....thanks.

We were pleasantly surprised when we had lunch there last fall. We had also been put off by the reviews, but thought we would try it for lunch. The bread was delicious; 3 different types. I don't recall the steaks being either sensational or terrible; sorry. I remember the Canadian bean soup was very good, but I didn't like the vegetarian pasta (I tried my daughter's) I recall the side dishes being very good, and can't recall if we had dessert. The beer was great, and I think they had a good wine selection. The atmosphere was very quiet (when we were there) Each dining room is a different province, and your waitperson is from said province. All in all, we will certainly return.

My favourite meal on this trip to the world was Mama Melroses in MGM. Out of the world try TU Tu Tango's by the Castle hotel on International Drive the atmosphere and the food are both wonderful.

Inside the MK, get a table in the Ben Franklin room in Liberty Tree Tavern. Best quiet sit-down meal in MK, you will still have the characters coming around, but the room is generally quiet and is a great break from the noise and crowd. If not there go to Tony's, always good food.

A great resort buffet is Boma at AKL.
