Nibblesandbits Amazingly Wonderful Trip Report (Number 6) Dec. 10 - 14

(I'm up to TR #6 already?!)

It seems like this year, I just couldn't get enough Disney. :lol:

I am back from my current trip, which was from December 10-14.

Now, this trip was quite different from any other the others I've really ever taken. First of all, the major difference was that my DH didn't travel with me on this adventure. So, no What's His Face for you this time. :lol: This time, I went on the trip with my mom. So, it was just us gals doing it up Disney-style. My mom hadn't been to the Magic Kingdom in 5 years, hadn't been to Epcot or the Studios in 8 years and hadn't been to AK ever. So it was really exciting to get to bring her along this trip, especially since this was the first trip she'd gone on with me, since I'd become the big Disney nut I have. Also, new this trip was it was my first time staying at a Moderate Resort, up from always Values.

The second thing that was different was I was going down for the annual event known as Mousefest. I am the co-host of a podcast (cheap plug, Be Our Guest Podcast), and all of us co-hosts, save one of us who couldn't make it down, were all going down to enjoy the festivities and celebrate our first ever Mousefest. So, a quick warning, a good portion of this trip report is going to relate back to Mousefest or the podcast because of that.

2 examples:
1. I took a photo of a large group. They enjoyed their time with me. The filled out a Great Service Fanatic card. My managers were informed and handed me the card. The card goes on my permanent record card.
2. I took a photo of a large group. They enjoyed their time with me. They were nice enough to stop by Guest Relations and fill out an Applause O Gram. My managers were informed and handed me the piece of paper. A year from now when that manager is no longer with my department, no one will remember that I was recognized because it is simply a pat on the back. It doesn't go on your record.

Why does it matter? I don't care either way in terms of my ego. I'm just as thrilled with the little business cards that some families hand us saying we made magic for them. However, in a giant corporation, you have to operate within the system to get rewarded. At the end of the year when they decide whether you get a raise or a promotion, all they have to go by is what is on your record card and their impressions. However, managers move around so much that the people that knew you did a good job are generally no longer with your department by the time you are being reviewed.

Go to any manager and ask for a GSF card or go to Guest Relations and ask for a GSF card. Writing a letter for a very special cast member is also a good idea.

I hope this doesn't sound too mercenary.

Like the others I'm sorry your trip ended on such a pukey note!

Thank you as well! And I'm sad my trip ended that way too. :lol:

Look for another TR coming in the next month or so, I'll be back again in Feb! :sohappy:

really REALLY great trip report that i just got around to reading now LOL. i want to take my mom to wdw coz weve never gone as adults (i always take solo trips) you made it seem like a blast (xcept for the getting sick thing!) :)

Great TR. But your TR are always great, lol. I had that yucky virus about the same time ( a day or two before Christmas) it was absolutely awful...I feel your pain. So awful it had to take place on your vacation though.

Thank you. It was so great taking my mom...she and I had a ton of fun!

BTW...I'm going to have a new TR up sometime soon hopefully...I was just there Feb. 3rd-Feb. 8 :wave:
