NFL Playoffs Competition

I think it's pretty much WHEN Pittsburgh wins.... that interception was terrible... and so was that first 4th and inches spot...

Well, it was fun while it lasted. At least I picked Denver last night. ;)

And say it with me now... "Peyton Manning cannot win the important games."

And I'll say it AGAIN:

1997 SEC Championship Game. It was the biggest game he played in college.......trust me I was there

Now if you say he can't win certain NFL playoff games or can't beat Florida, then you'd be right :)

Yeah, Peyton didn't fare so well today. But on top of that, the Steelers played like they wanted to win today. They deserved it. Maybe it was due to the great stay they had at their hotel last nite because of their phenomenal CS Manager. :lookaroun

The Colts should have played the end of the regular season more more intensity. I've never been a fan of resting the starters when you'll have a month off.

I just said to one of my friends yesterday, "It makes me nervous that they had a week off, plus most of the first string didn't play against Arizona. I think they'd do better if they had played all the way thru." I completely agree-too much time off was bad.

So the Orange Bowl appearance after winning that he didn't play in? Or did he lose that game? That would be the more major of the two in the end.

He was injured in that SECCG and a lot of people didn't think he would play. Tee Martin got the starter snaps at practice that week and Peyton played at about 70%. Michigan won the day before so it knocked us out of a chance to win a title and Nebraska (the better team anyways) was still playing for a share of the national championship in Tom Osbourne's last game.

And because we were just playing for 2nd place, that game was not as big as the SECCG. Now if Michigan had lost in the Rose Bowl.........it would have been a different story

You've got to remember 97 was the first year we won the SEC East and got to play in Atlanta. IT WAS NUTS down there and to be honest the SECCG has the best atmosphere of any football game in the nation.

Frankly, until my son got interested in College Football this year, I really didn't care all that much about it so I really wouldn't know anything about how Tennessee usually did in the SEC. As a matter of fact, the only two games each year that I paid any attention to were BC vs Notre Dame and the Army/Navy game. Other than that, it didn't really matter to me. I didn't even watch Bowl games. But what I understand is that any of the BCS Bowl games(of which the Orange Bowl is one of them) are considered the biggest games of the year for the teams involved. Let's say that the SECCG was the biggest win of his career, since other than that, he has not won any "big" games(Bowl/AFC Championship/Super Bowl).

The SECCG is different because winning the conference means so much to fans and players of those schools. The Georgia Dome is louder than any other stadium I've been to for that game and Atlanta is wild.

As far as the last line, I think that's pretty fair to say.

and I thought you were a Colts fan

Not that I would condone that behavior....Although Ultah did it to Bulls MJ one year with Pizza

They're actually a cool bunch of guys, so if the Colts were going to lose, I'd much rather it be to them than to the Patriots. *shrugs*

The Bears losing was a bummer too. A Colts-Bears Super Bowl would have been a lot of fun. So, even though my predictions suck, and my career as a sports analyst would be short lived, here's to hoping: Seahawks vs. Steelers in the Super Bowl. Steelers take all.

I don't know who I'm cheering for now. Just about everyone I like is out of it. I guess I'll be pulling for Steelers/Panthers at this point, since I had some Steelers on my Fantasy team this year and I wouldn't mind seeing 'The Bus' win one before he retires.

I'll go with the NFC rep since neither of them has ever won a Super Bowl.

Agreed. I think it's a big mistake.

As much as I wanted the Colts to win, I felt bad for "The Bus". That would have really sucked, the last play of his career could have been the fumble to lose the playoff game. Even though it was more of a good defensive play then a screwup.

If I'm right, that was his only fumble this year.
