My thoughts on the game:

- Aaron Rodgers is hurt. He only once successfully escaped the pocket, and even when he could do so easily, he opted not to. He favored his left leg all game long, which I believe ended up costing him on some of his accuracy.

- Mistakes all around. By both the Packers and Cowboys, they each left opportunities out there.

- The officiating this post season has been horrendous. Bad calls everywhere.

- Julius Peppers was one of the best free agent pickups in the league this year. Two forced fumbles, one recovered by the Packers. Washed up he's not.

- Going off the Julius Peppers thing, Green Bay has a legitimate pass rush. I believe it was 4 sacks against arguably the best O-line in football. Along with that, Green Bay's defense is on the rise. Yes, they gave up a lot of yard to Murray, but overall they were able to hold on of the best offenses to 21 point. They make plays when it counts. Their upward trend from the second half of this season only continues.

My thoughts for next week in Seattle:

- Green Bay will have to step it up if they want to win. They can't leave plays on the field like they did today.

- Seattle did not look unbeatable for most of yesterday's game. Against a team with a better offense and QB, Seattle would not have been able to win like they did.

I love how much fun the Packers have playing the game, especially Rodgers and the offensive line. When they were asked about what the call "New York Bozo" that Rodgers called meant, they offered no explanation and just chuckled. When Rodgers was asked about it for clarification he said, "Our guys don't know what that means either." I love how he just comes up with the most random dummy calls during the game. :D

With so many refereeing blunders, I would think one big change the NFL has to mandate, or the very least, strongly consider, is that the refereeing crews in the regular season stay together in all rounds of the playoffs. In other words, no more "all-star" refereeing crews in the postseason. When you have so many different refs from different crews, it's almost asking for disaster and asking for inconsistency. If one entire crew misses up, simple, you ban them for the rest of the postseason and pick another crew. During the World Cup, they constantly evaluate referees and they ban poor refs from the tournament with bad officiating. It's time the NFL do the same.

In theory, the "all-star" crew is a great idea. But when you actually have to execute, the lack on consistency and familiarity with one another is going to be a problem. It's like if you were to make Pro Bowlers play in the Pro Bowl coach's normal offense. The lack of time together and lack of confidence in one another is going to turn it into a disaster. Put the best crew out there, don't pick and choose people from different crews.

I heard someone on the radio the other day - one of the retired officials that they go to often but his name escapes me at the moment - and he was saying the term "all-star" for the ref crews is a pet peeve of his since approximately 70% of the regular season refs make it into the post season. It's the best 70% - but it's still 70% - so clearly you are not getting "all-star" quality from all of the postseason refs.

Okay I don't know if he Dez Bryant caught the football at the end of the game or not. I have not looked into it that closely to tell if it looks like it should count as a catch or not. Also even if we would've scored a touchdown who's to say that Green Bay would not have scored a touchdown after that. Also Dallas did make some mistakes during this game.

What I don't understand is why some people have to start saying bad things about Dez Byrant and calling him a crybaby and all that stuff. Dez Bryant is just passionate about the game. I can also understand why Dez Bryant would be upset that the call was reversed. I am very happy that Dez Bryant is a Cowboy!
He is very talented. I can understand why he is upset. It is a rule that a lot of people disagree with.

So they're mixing up the chemistry they have with ultimately nearly the same talent level. Makes sense. I'm also curious how they split it up. Are the worst performers from that 70% devoted to the Wild Card round? If so, they're getting worse officiating than a regular season game would.

He didn't specifically say how they were assigned. I found the concept of breaking up teams and destroying chemistry to ultimately leave out 30% of the officials mind boggling.

Just imagine being that bottom 30%. Talk about self-esteem killer.

(Edit: ^Just realized there are 12 words in this above sentence. I am officially staying home with doors locked for a week).
