Here we go...

- Seahawks / Cowboys

-Seahawks: Great pickups, just a couple plays away from the NFC Championship last year.
-Cowboys: Nothing, Romo's deal? Not a fan, he hasn't proven anything. Firing Rob Ryan? Again, not a fan.

-Seahawks: The best player on the board
-Cowboys: O line to protect their "New investment" in Romo, give the guy a fighting change. Add couple more defensive playmakers.

Good test for both teams in the schedule. But given what the Bronco's have to work with, and Wes Welker added, they seem to be the team to beat in the AFC.

So in the end, GO HAWKS!

Today at the Orioles game, I saw a guy wearing a Steelers jacket but an Orioles cap. o_O Okay, if you're going to cheer for the stinking Steelers, you must also support the Pirates the way we have supported the Orioles even though they were a losing team for so many years.

Perhaps the guy lives in Maryland and is an Orioles fan, but was a Steelers fan before the Ravens (Browns) went to Baltimore. Just because he's wearing a Steelers jacket doesn't mean he's from PA.

I know someone who is a Packers fan living in Wisconsin his entire life, but he's a die hard Cubs fan.

Ahh... Tony Romo's deal, one of the most controversial subjects so far this off-season. IMO, it was a smart deal, maybe not a good deal, but a smart one. Look at all the teams who've been successful over the years. They all have had above average QBs. Romo is above average. If they let Romo walk after this year, who would they get? Some free agent? Risk taking a QB in the draft? At this point they are an average, 8-8 team year in and year out. Without Romo they would be a 4, 5, 6 win team. Yes, he's probably overpaid, but Romo had leverage over the Cowboys' front office. The Cowboys just need a solid O-line and a healthy guy in the backfield and they have an elite offense, IMO. Their defense needs some more playmakers. Get those things and they are a playoff team. Again, just my opinion.

As for the Seahawks, they got some good players, but I'm not a big advocate for free agent pickups. It can ruin a team cap. Not to say free agency is always bad, but I'd much rather build through the draft. It seems that teams can sustain success longer that way. Percy Harvin is a definite upgrade for the somewhat dull receiving corps they had last year. Seattle should be a Super Bowl contender for the NFC this year. Their biggest obstacle is the 49ers. Should be fun to watch!

It doesn't but we from Baltimore consider it blasphemy, especially since most Orioles fans are also Ravens fans (we even have a shirt that has both on it). It's just hard to understand the extent of the rivalry if you're not part of it. My dad looked and said, "He should not be wearing that." And then I said, "What, he needs to cheer for the Pirates?" And he said, "Yeah, or get rid of the jacket."

Falcons as you are aware...
We have issues most have not mentioned: The whole right side of the O-Line! Center retired, Tackle was cut, Guard moving to Center (I guess that is the plan for Center).
Osi is not an upgrade from Abraham...and I still have a suspicion that we will bring back Abe...don't know why, just a hunch.

Draft: Corner or DL with the first pick, hope that Eddy Lacy drops in the 2nd round...don't see that happening.

December is brutal: @ Lambeau, @ Buffalo (In Toronto), Washington in the Dome, @ Candlestick.

At first glance the schedule looks a little easier:
4 games against the AFC East, New England being the only apparent challenge,

4 games against the NFC West, SF and Seattle being tough (I don't really buy into Seattle, Percy Harvin is a great talent, but a prime-dona)

1st place schedule rewards with Green Bay and Washington

6 games in NFC South....not sure what to expect with New Orleans or Carolina.....

Anywhere from a pessimistic 9 wins to an optimistic 12.....Matt Ryan and Julio must stay healthy.

I think Atlanta's offense will be pretty good with the addition of Steven Jackson. They already had a top notch passing game with the Ryan, White, Jones, and Gonzalez combo. Now they should have an above average rushing game again. Jacquizz Rogers should be a nice change-of-pace guy. They do have a tough schedule, though. Anyone who faces the NFC West is in for a tough time. The Falcons just need to solidify their defense with a player or two in the secondary and here and there in the front seven.

Looking forward to the game at Lambeau in December. I hope it snows. Haven't had a snow game in forever, and for some reason I've always wanted to play the Falcons at Lambeau in the snow. Hope it turns out to be like the last time these two teams matched up! I'm sure you remember that! :p

Uhh...I seem to remember that day in the Dome (was there for that whippin')...and I recall a 2003 Playoff game @ Lambeau...in the snow....and Green Bay's 1st playoff loss @ the Frozen Tundra! Had to do it bro, Atl is a loser sports town and doesn't have many examples of post-season glory.

As for my answers for the Packers...

I want the Packers to go D-line in the first round. We desperately need someone to solidify the ends. Raji is our only good D-lineman, Pickett is average, but he's getting older. All the other guys and situation-type players. Second round I'd like either a RB, S, or OL. We need a RB to go along DuJuan Harris. Wouldn't mind Montee Ball, or someone else. We need a safety to compete with MD Jennings and Jeron McMillian. And we need a LT to replace Marshall Newhouse who isn't much. Center should be interesting, too. After we benched Jeff Saturday, Evan Dietrich-Smith did a solid job, but he hasn't started much at center. And a lot of our O-linemen were injured last season and placed on IR. In the later rounds I would like a WR to add more depth since the departures or Jennings and Driver (I remember a few years back when they were an elite receiving corp).

As for the schedule, it's pretty tough. We'll be tested early to see if we can stop the read option. At SF to start the season followed by WAS at home. Insanely early bye week (4), which won't be good because we get injured so much. There's also a Thanksgiving game at Detroit, so that will give us a short, little break during the middle of the season.

The season is too far away!

Forgot about Cleveland...haven't done much since the Otto Graham days, and the Indians even gave Atlanta its only World Series victory in the 14 year run of post-season futility.

I always compare Atlanta to San Diego as far as losersville.

I don't remember the last time when the Packers were considered bottom of the league. I grew up during the Favre era. I miss those days, he was always so fun to watch. However, I'm very grateful for Aaron Rodgers. Assuming Rodgers is going to play and be good for some time yet, that's going to be like three decades of great QB play. Can't imagine what it was like for my dad who had to endure all those painful years between the Lombardi and Holmgren eras.

I doubt that the Packers would take a RB in the first round. The last time that happened was the 80s, I believe. There are many more players that I'd rather have then Lacy. RB is so deep that we can get a starting guy in the second or third rounds. Montee Ball would be perfect for me, but I'm a Wisconsin fan, too.

Heard that...most don't realize the Pack were pretty much equivalent to the Falcons during that period. Had a few micro-blips with Lynn Dickey and Don Majoskowski (surely that is misspelled), but that was about it. Farve must have driven you crazy, ala Glavine, Maddox, and Smoltz....so close, so teasingly close and only 1 ring to show for it.

The way I see it, you are WAY better off with Aaron Rodgers.

Yeah, Dickey and Majkowski (you were close with the spelling )had some good years, but overall they were pretty bad.

While the playoff loses were tough, I still loved those years. Two Super Bowl appearances with one Lombardi trophy. He was just fun to watch. He wasn't afraid of anything. He'd throw a pass between defenders underhanded, scramble away from what seemed like 10 defenders, and he had the best arm in the league. His decision making was questionable sometimes, but he always seemed to keep us in games.

Rodgers will be better than Favre by the end of his career. Much better decision making. That's the thing that sets him apart from Favre. He's careful with the ball, which is partially why he takes so many sacks. Favre was a classic gunslinger. Rodgers will top him, though. Already has more Super Bowl MVPs than Favre and as many rings as him. IMO, Rodgers will be considered the best quarterback, if not player, ever by the end of his career.

I know it's a bit earlier to start thinking about the NFL, but I'm so lost without it. It's my thing! So this thread is to keep the joys of the NFL going.

The draft starts a week from tonight, and the 2013 schedule was just released a little bit ago. Some questions to kick things off...

- Who's your favorite team?
- What are your thought on free agency so far?
- Who do you want your team to draft?
- What do you think of the regular season schedule schedule?

I'm a huge fan of the Green Bay Packers for those of you who don't know.

Colts
I hope our O-line signings Keep A. Luck uprite!
I want a rush LB to replace Freeney
Looking fwd to October 20 and Peytons return to Indy. Bet the standing O lasts for awhile. Thank you Peyton for all the memories and for the class you have shown. The Horseshoe Ring of Honor awaits you!
