Tom Coughlin has said he wants to coach for multiple more seasons. He is currently 67. It would be pretty weird imagining a 70 year old coach.

If he keeps missing the playoffs, I doubt he'll last for more than two or three more years.

I wish the SB was this week. In general, I dislike how all sports seemed to have pushed later and later - NCAA football and basketball, World Series, Super Bowl, etc. I guess I am particularly grumpy about this year b/c my nerves are jangly for the Broncos. But I prefer the SB be played in January. I know all the pushing out and adding is all about money; and intellectually I get that. But I still dislike it!

And playing the Pro Bowl between the end of the playoffs and the SB? Worse than its placement after the SB. How are you going to get any players from the "best" teams. The Pro Bowl already suffers from the fact most players do not want to risk the injury - trip to Hawaii notwithstanding. ;) I wouldn't want to risk my multi-million dollar contract if I were a player, and I don't want the best players on my team risking themselves either.

If they insist on continuing the PB (and I get that Hawaii wants the additional revenue), they need to turn it into a skills only exhibition, maybe what they already (or use?) to do, or like the Combine. Also meet and greets, or a big party with players, or a flag football game (although I think it would be hard getting these guys to back off enough for a ff game). At the very least, perhaps it should be a game played at the beginning of the next season, instead of one of the preseason games. Probably still problematic regarding players fear of injuries; but what they are doing now stinks. I don't think this draft thing will make many more people watch beyond this first try of it.

I'm not a fan of the Pro Bowl either. Then again, I don't like all-star games in general. For starters, I am not a fan of making the ASGs count like MLB does with theirs. Second, the fantasy draft is nothing new. The NHL was the first to try it and it got a lot of buzz the first time around. The problem is that the sport does not provide many options for a skills competition. All I can think is in terms of skills competition off the top of my head of is a FG kicking contest (Where all kickers kick from the same distance and then back up the tries every time a kick is made. A kicker is only eliminated if at least one competitor makes a kick. Don't start at the 50 yards. Maybe start 55 and go from there or something.), a QB accuracy contest, a 100 yard sprint to really determine the fastest player in the NFL with ball carrying, helmets, pads and everything, a 4 by 100 yard relay where one player on each team sprints 100 yards from one end zone to another carrying the ball, hands the ball to the next player and continue until all 4 players finish their 100 yard sprints.

Honestly, I just wish they got rid of it. I suppose you could try and tie the Pro Bowl with the Senior Bowl to generate more buzz but again, the Senior Bowl takes place before the Super Bowl. Bottom line, the Pro Bowl is a giant mess. (And I'm putting it lightly!)

They should just do wipeout:nfl edition :)

The motivation with the current format is pretty obvious in their marketing tagline ... fantasy football for real. The NFL has really embraced fantasy football is where increasing interest in the game. It certainly seems to suck people into the game more

Wow according to espn Richard Sherman has made 5 million dollars in advertisement and interview payments because of his outburst last week.

His brother was on NFL AM on NFL Network the other morning, and apparently he said that Richard's outburst would be very "lucrative" for them.

Does anyone else think they will move the Super Bowl to Friday or delay it to Monday?
I hope not. That would be even more chaotic than having it during a snow storm IMO. They were able to play in Philly when there was tons of snow coming down, so why not the Super Bowl? And think of how POed you would be if you bought tickets, but you couldn't attend the game because of a reschedule.

Slight correction.. that was his agent saying he could make up to 5 million in new endorsements/etc. It's his agent fluffing up his client even further. He is doing well.. the story has been covered everywhere since he made the comments.

Even fantasy football people don't care about the Pro Bowl though...

I sure hope not. It would complicate things even further, such as people with tickets who do not fly into NY until Saturday, or if moved to a Monday people who have flights to leave then. Plus a SB on a Monday sounds...bad to me.
Plus the commuter lines between NYC and NJ are already jammed enough. Combining rush hour and stadium traffic on a Monday or Friday would be hell.

I absolutely hope not. And they shouldn't! Aside from everything that's been said, it would take a significant hit in the ratings on TV, I think. People have to work on Monday so if they were to keep the start time the same but switch to a Monday, millions of Americans will not be able to see the games. I don't give a rats about DVR. Watching sports matches on a DVR is a cardinal sin of sports fandom in my book!! It's live or bust! (Plus the competition they're up against: How I Met Your Mother, 2 Broke Girls and even The Bachelor could also polarize TV viewers into picking one over another.) Just admit that this Super Bowl was your Edsel, your Arch Deluxe or New Coke, lick your wounds and take it like a man! (And keep the SB in domed or warm cities. No London, either!!)
