I haven't heard anyone call him a thug, or comment on his life off the field.

I don't think his behavior on the field is good for his team or for the game.

I remember when seeing this heated interview last winter thinking how the mouth & narcissism of Sherman was going to eventually start harming Seattle's reputation.

Unless his coach does something to take it down a notch, he may one day pull a John Rocker & say something so hate-filled & controversial that it becomes the staple point of his career.

Nothing wrong with team pride and yes, self-pride when playing in the NFL. Everybody has it. But this guy ihas surpassed overkill.

The thing is, Pete Carroll invites the attitude of Sherman, IMO.

Also, I had never seen that interview before. Wow.

Off the field, I don't question him (aside from his interviews, obviously). On the field, he is one of the most annoying players I've ever seen. The fact that he graduated from Stanford, got a masters, etc doesn't have anything to do with his attitude. You can be the most arrogant person in the world and still do community service, they don't have to be separate. I've seen a lot of Seahawks fans defending him saying things like what were posted in that image, but it doesn't change the fact that he is far too arrogant. He wants to be known as the best cornerback in the league, but with all of his talk he is just advertising himself as the biggest trash talker in the league. I won't deny that he's a great corner, but his antics are just too much. He says he doesn't want to take away from the team and the success they've had, but he clearly doesn't mean it.

Kind of got away from focusing on what you posted, but I think it's all valid in the talk of Sherman. Again, great player, but his attitude is just the opposite.

I also think his teammates and his coaches let it happen. So unless someone changes things so that there's more strictly enforced rules of proper behavior and the severe consequences of not following those standards, Sherman is not going to change a thing. The only receiver by the looks of it Sherman doesn't talk trash to is Larry Fitzgerald and that's because Fitzgerald says nothing from what I heard. Sherman actually embraces a receiver who talks smack back because it then becomes a mind game in his book. So let him talk but opposing players need to walk the bigger walk so to speak.

Speaking of which, Pete Carroll USC's teams, I recall, were pretty snobbish, too. Except for his first year, for the most part, USC was always a title contender every year under Carroll.

Some fans and media types are defending Sherman, because he's entertaining and gives them material to chat about endlessly on all the cable sports shows.

Probably the same types of idiots that watch Skip Bayless and Steve Smith as 'entertainment' and keep them on the air.

- Eliminating the extra point (which would be stupid)
Maybe they could just make extra points harder.
When I was first starting to watch football, I never understood the extra point. To me, it just seemed pointless (no pun intended) since most of the time the kickers would make it. As I watched more in high school and as my team began making the playoffs (making me more inclined to watch), I realized how much of a difference it could make and understood the rule of two point conversion. Still, I think it should be harder to get. It usually just seems like, "Hey, here's a free point; have a nice day!" to me.

They used to miss extra point kicks about 3% of the time. Now it's more like 1% so some people want to drop them to save time.

If they were to make the extra point harder, I wouldn't want it too hard, because I don't want the scoring screwed up from what it is now. I wouldn't have the extra point be any longer than 20 yards. And with the idea Goodell said, I don't like the idea of deducting points. If I had it my way, I'd keep it the way it is. It's not fair to kickers, either.

Touching up on the confusion on the FG attempt by Seattle, which ultimately led to a Wilson TD pass on 4th down... kicker Steven Hauschka told Pete Carroll he didn't want to attempt it due to the wind and distance. At that point there was confusion, and they had to call a timeout. Good decision by the kicker!

As of now (or yesterday, can't really remember), the weather for the Super Bowl is supposed to be around 33 dgerees, and it is supposed to snow/rain before the game, but everything should be clear by gametime. But we all know it's impossible to predict weather two hours before it happens, let alone two weeks.

All this banning the extra point reminds me of the notorious XFL. (Another wannabe league that tried to "challenge" the NFL.) They had no extra points in their game, I vividly remember that. They did, however, have a 1 point conversion at like the 2 yard line maybe. And if you wanted 2 points, convert at the 5 yard line, 3 points, convert at the 10 yard line. Crazy stuff way back when...

Just thought I'd share this letter from a deaf girl to Seahawks' deaf FB Derrick Coleman.

The Browns and Bills DC Mike Pettine are trying to figure out assistants as the Browns are attempting to hire Pettine as their HC.
