Yeah, the instigators are always 'innocent'... does anyone think how wound up he was at the point of the interview he wasn't even more wound up prior to that?

That's what I thought, too. No way he limited it to just "good game".

An interview with Roger Goodell will air on NFL Network tonight at 8pm ET. Some topics discussed:

- Potential playoff expansion
- Eliminating the extra point (which would be stupid)
- Reviewing illegal hits

The last would be good, but I don't like the idea of the first two. You can read this article for a bit more of an explanation on each of the above topics.

You have to kick it from the 50 yard line. That would make it interesting. The 2 pt conversion could be more popular then.

"I don't like people saying negative things about me, I don't like people running their mouth," Sherman said. "So I told him: 'Good game and good try, but I'm the best corner in the league.'"

Anything hypocritical about the bold part?

At a different time, Sherman apologized.

In a statement to ESPN's Ed Werder, Sherman said: "I apologize for attacking an individual and taking the attention away from the fantastic game by my teammates. That was not my intent."

Hmm...not sure how I feel about this. As much as I love the NFL playoffs, and wouldn't mind more weekends of it, it's getting a little ridiculous letting all these teams into the postseason. Too much is too much, and it really takes away from the accomplishment factor if you're allowing half the league into the playoffs. Pretty soon you'll have multiple teams with 8-8 or even losing records making the playoffs, making a mockery of the whole system. I say keep the system to where the postseason honors the best of the best.

I love what @Lucky suggested for this...simply make the extra point harder. There are so many great ideas which could be used for this, not only to add more challenge to the game, but to surely drive up network ratings. Examples such as:

-Have players on the team attempting the extra point all wear shock collars during the play, and the defending team's coaches get to use the remotes. This would make for epic sports television at it's finest.

-Use blindfolds on both the offense & defense. Heck, do this for an entire football game. It would make for the best 3 hours of television in the history of life as we know it.

-The Running Of The Bulls = Awesome!
Extra Point attempts = (usually) Boring.
BUT
Put them together = Best thing ever

Those are just a few ideas.

Al Roker made a good point on the Today show about this. You also never know when you will end up having to be teammates with that person or persons.

Yikes! So nearly his entire knee. I guess if this is going to happen to you, you want it to happen at the end of the season. But that is a really awful injury.

In Sherman's SI blog, he mentioned that he had heard that Seahawks fans were throwing trash at Navarro as he was being carried out. Is this true? I have not seen really anything else about this. maybe the whole Sherman thing is overshadowing it? If it did happen, it is an awful thing to do. And, at the very, very least, bad ju-ju for your own players. You don't want that bad karma coming back on them.

Chicago AM News programming today. Pre-SuperBowl, the hype this year isn't going to be about the game. It was about Richard Sherman as trophies were distributed and continued to be about Richard. As much as Richard says he wishes Sunday was about the teams victory Richard continues to focus and speak of himself from blogs to twitter. We're in for two weeks of Sherman in the limelight speaking to his favorite topic, himself.

This morning on Kelly & Michael Live Michael Strahan attempted to do some damage control on behalf of Sherman. Strahan as the show opened this morning spoke to the topic of Sherman's Tirade, He is a real nice guy. Kelly in the same segment instead decided to push the show direction to Mexico and Margaritas.

I remember when seeing this heated interview last winter thinking how the mouth & narcissism of Sherman was going to eventually start harming Seattle's reputation.

Unless his coach does something to take it down a notch, he may one day pull a John Rocker & say something so hate-filled & controversial that it becomes the staple point of his career.

Nothing wrong with team pride and yes, self-pride when playing in the NFL. Everybody has it. But this guy ihas surpassed overkill.

Some fans and media types are defending Sherman, because he's entertaining and gives them material to chat about endlessly on all the cable sports shows. Good sportsmanship is more boring than jerksmanship. Other players seem to think he's a jerk, and they have to deal with him on the field.
