Amazing that some of you are trying to have a reasonable discussion with Mr. Haunted OMG-SKY-IS-FALLING.

It's been tried on other sites (that are now mostly ghost towns), and it wasn't successful.

His raging tone doesn't modulate -- it's stays at 11 all the time.

Other sites are ghost towns?

Amazing what happens when Spirits depart ...

Amazing how THAT tone worked from 1995-2003 to get Pressler and Cynthia the heck outta DL, bring in Ouimet and save the 50th.

Okay, I don't want to stir the pot up in here, but I feel that I should give my opinion. Ever since I took my first trip in the summer in 2010 and stayed at the Grand Floridian, I have a different view on Disney. I can't tell you how hard it is to see a place that you love so much, like Disney, go to the condition it has. The clientele, the population of ungrateful and demanding children, the extremely obese people plopping themselves in motor scooters and expecting to get on rides, monorails, buses, etc. first, the Brazilians leaving all their garbage thrown on the floor in the queue lines (saw that in Splash Mountain...it was vile), and many other things make me want to VOMIT. What happened to the Disney I knew from when I was little (which was not that long ago!!!) WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?!?! I have come to the conclusion that Disney sees what is happening, and even though they don't like it, they have to start catering the people that are causing their downfall and success. I mean, just the other day, I was at Casey's Corner sitting down. We were ready to leave, so we collected our garbage and stood up, and literally the second I stood, some woman sat right down. I was like, okay, RUDE! To make matters worse, a group of non-English speaking people said to her, "Oh, we are waiting for more people and wanted that table." Now, granted, these people weren't proactive in letting us know they wanted the table, but still, what this woman responded with was MIND BOGGLING and made me realize what the typical Disney guest is. She said, "Well, I don't really give a ________." Isn't that disgusting!!!!!???? The way this relates to the topic at hand is that Disney has to cater these people in order to stay afloat. I know from reliable sources that beside what Disney is putting out there with deals and annual reports that they are doing well, that it is all fake. They are HURTING! just like most businesses nowadays! The HM queue, which doesn't bother me but does take away from the beloved atmosphere, is an example. It caters to the typical Disney tourist that doesn't have a watchful eye on their children, and frankly doesn't care about their behavior. That is how I feel about all this.

Why does every new article he writes just make me dislike the whole project even more: 1200 seats for parade viewing in the Rose Garden? Who thinks that this will make the hub more enjoyable?? :brick:

It's not like there are going to be 1200 people camped out in this area all day long. Just during parades when the hub is massively congested anyway.

Not sure I'm thrilled about losing the Rose Garden so Disney can incorporate more people into the hub though.....:shrug:

I don't envision them completely destroying it. More walkways toward the hub probably.

You may be right; I don't know. I guess something could be done with that area where they hold "special events." Wait and see, I suppose.....

I can understand how some people may be fearing the park will be covered with obnoxious video games. But honestly, I like the idea of giving people something to do while waiting. I've been to WDW many times over the years starting at age 7. And one thing my trip planning has always tried to avoid is long lines. I mean, standing in line for an hour for one ride can be aggravating. I don't understand the old kind of argument... "back in my day, we waited 90 minutes for Thunder Mountain! It builds character, and you're a lazy ADD kid if you can't take it."

Really, is standing in a long winding queue somehow an immersive experience? Turning a corner and finding that the line is much longer than you thought? It seems to me this would help cut down on people's aggravation in the park, leaving us with happier visitors and less whiny kids. I think sometimes the long time visitors overlook the fact that it's not uncommon to see irritated parents, crying kids, etc, during the busiest times in the park. I wouldn't want these things to get out of hand and look cheap and silly, but the stuff I've seen so far seems to work well.

(But I think I may agree that the current Star Tours queue is more than adequate as is, and even that is an improvement over the already-fun queue that was there before.)

Jim continues w/ teh self servince condesecsion he is famous for by implying that we have NO idea what we're talking about and they we will ALL end up loving it in the end. And then has to throw out the worse bit of info to prove his point. WDW GUEST SURVEYS. The most pre-answered/PowerPointed/rigged surveys on the planet. Of COURSE if you ask an open ended question like "Would you LIKE to reserve what rides you want to ride before you get here?" Of COURSE people are gonna say yes. TDO is spending one billion on this so you better believe they are gonna have guests over the moon in surveys to justify this.

And if they really are going to tear out a beautiful spot and walkway, The Rose Garden, for MORE Hub and a Scene One for Tower well......I can't tell you how disgusting this is.... :hurl:

I'm not sure that's self serving. Jim is right in the sense that the fan community immediately reacts to things while only knowing a fraction of the details. The Avatar thread was 100+ page in 3 days and the only piece of information we had was "Avatar is coming to the Animal Kingdom".

There is a rush to be the first person to critique something in our overly cynical society, and it's rather disheartening. Having said all that, the initial information we had on xPass (from Jim) indicated that it was going to be exclusive to deluxe resort guests, and that in itself turned people off because it was creating "class systems" in the parks. I don't agree with the perspective, in fact I view it as somewhat self entitled, but people were making their voice heard based on that set of information.

I think what Jim is trying to say here is that information on this is slow to come out. It hasn't been officially announced yet and people are already blasting it. The same thing was done with Magic Memories and You and people love it now.

Everyone's favorite punching bag has a new and very interesting article regarding Xpass.

http://jimhillmedia.com/editor_in_c...s-as-well-as-disney-world-s-day-visitors.aspx

I'm usually a defender of Jim Hill, but I'm becoming very intrigued by his recent formula for writing:

1. Break news about a controversial, destructive project that is unpopular and negatively received;
2. Condescendingly criticize us for not knowing the full details behind said project or not thinking about the project from the right point of view;
3. Continue to give us details that prove the project to be even more controversial and destructive.

It's strange how he now seems to defend all of Disney's decisions, even when casually passing off facts like "don't worry, they're go to pave over the Rose Garden." Speaking of which...

Not sure I'm thrilled about losing the Rose Garden so Disney can incorporate more people into the hub though.....:shrug:

This was one of the most distressing things I found in the article. Tearing up the remainder of the Hub's landscaping for more fireworks viewing? It's like the Hub's tree removal all over again...

I would say it's fair that Jim is being used as a sounding board by WDW, at least in regard to this XPass program. And I wasn't crazy about him trying to tie this all to Avatar or a new Soarin' theatre, especially when he keeps stating how much of the XPass program is still up in the air.

And I agree. There's enough concrete on the grounds at WDW as is. I don't see the need to tear up that garden area just for some extra fireworks viewing.

When Spirits vanish, so does interesting conversation.

It says something when the most interesting threads are started by AutoPost. :eek:

Yes, but some Spirits like to talk about serious stuff and the reasons behind it and many are unable to take part or even understand what is being said ... and then there are personal agendas.

For instance, last year many Mommy Bloggers and insignificant online folks got free trips on the Dream ... a certain major Disney Place that a certain Spirit no longer frequents very oddly did not. Wonder if the Big Man will be taking the family on a Fantasy cruise soon!:rolleyes:

~It's not what I say that matters ... oh wait, yes, it is!~
