News On The Jungle Cruise Movie!!

I definately would like a do-over of the haunted mansion movie. Its amazing how much potential it had, but they just flushed it down the toilet. Such terrible miscasting with Eddie Murphey and Jennifer Tilly. And why was Wallace Shawn cast as a ghost?! He has to be the most un-ghost like actor ever!

I agree, I didn't like it at all. IMHO, I don't see the Jungle Cruise movie being a hit either, it just doesn't have the appeal that PoTC did anyway you look at it.

This looks hopeful. Jungle Cruise is a popular ride, and it would be a fun adventure. Whether it is on par with Pirates is not known, only time will tell.

Don't lower your expectations too much. ;)

For the record, I really enjoyed both the Tower of Terror and Haunted Mansion films.

This is really the first piece of information we've seen about the Jungle Cruise, yet it still doesn't tell us that much.

I did think, however, that the story would naturally follow the adventures of something like a Travel Company that takes people on trips (i.e. a "Jungle Cruise"). But the script is still in development, and anything could happen.

But I think it still sounds interesting the way it is.

I don't remember where I heard that Disney was hesitant about Depp's character interpretation, so if that was incorrect I apologize. However, it seems that enough other people remember hearing similar things.

The storywriters made the POTC movies what they were, actors didnt hurt either, but they were not based completely on the ride so i could see the movie having success if they use the same formula they used on pirates.

Basically, when Johnny Depp first started acting like that, it made everyone (both the filmakers and the Disney company itself) a little uneasy, as they were taken by surprise since they had never really seen that style of acting, nor did it fit into the concept of what they thought a pirate captain would be.

But in the end, it turned out to be a positive thing, so Disney let up on him after they saw the success of the character and the film.

I enjoyed ToT and HM too. I didnt enjoy POTC right off the bat, but I do now. I think why Potc was such a hit was because of the "huge stars" that were in it, I think if the cast wasnt what it was, then the movie wouldnt have been as popular as it came to be. Imo HM was decent and very funny at parts, but it did have its flaws though but on that same note so did the Potc movies. And Tot wasnt even suppose to be big, it was just a made for tv movie, so I didnt expect much from that, but I enjoyed that one also.

I think an Expedition Everest movie would be absolutely amazing. Especially if done correctly. I have mixed feelings towards the Jungle Cruise ride to movie adaptation. I can definitely see Disney doing one of the things they do best (marketing) the lead role as a Jack Sparrow rip off and I can already see the trailer; "FROM THE PEOPLE THAT BROUGHT YOU THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN FRANCHISE COMES AN ALL NEW ADVENTURE!!!" They're going to make as many comparisons to Pirates as possible to squeeze as many dollars out of it as they can. However, if the right people were involved with this movie it could be something special. But thats a big "if."

Just my $.02

I think the biggest thing they will have to tackle is what type of genre to make the movie.

Will it be a straight up comedy to mirror the light-heartedness of the ride? Will it be more of an Indiana Jones action-adventure?

Maybe it will be a combination of both: an action film with quite of light moments. :)

Jungle Cruise, The Movie, definitely needs to be a comedy along the lines of Caddyshack, Animal House and especially Meatballs (the summer camp movie). Throw in the Adventurer's Club and you've got a fun movie.

Here's some updated news on the Jungle Cruise Movie From Box Office Mojo

Jungle Cruise a High Priority at Disney

Source: Box Office Mojo

There will be a family involved. The skipper will play a very important role. He'll be more of an Indiana Jones kind of guy, with a little Jack Sparrow in him, who's going to be able to take this family on an adventure that they never dreamed they were going to be on when they first got on board. In true Disney fashion, it will definitely have the adventure and the intensity—but also the heart and the fun. We hope we have a good outline of where we want to go and what we want to do with it in the next year.

Thoughts?

If I can't stomach the Kurt Russel Movie Captain Ron....Well..you get the idea...:lookaroun

I think they should play the movie somewhere just to the silly side of straightforward. And here, ladies and gentlemen, is your Jungle Cruise skipper (if I were casting it)...

He looks kind of like Clive Owen... If that was him in the pic, I doubt he'd make a good skipper at all.
The filename is "owen.jpg" so that sounds like a good assumption to me.

I'd like to see Robin Williams in the lead role, but I'm not sure that's the direction they're taking this film.
