New Ursula AA (LM ride)

The ride at MK will be an exact match to DCA so not to worry. By the time the ride is complete at MK all the bugs will be worked out if there are any.

I assumed VotLM might not continue at DHS once this one is done, but any ideas on what might go in there (if that happens)? The animation courtyard would really be lacking without something in there.
I don't see why VOTLM would close because there is a dark ride at MK. You have the dark ride Nemo at Epcot and Nemo the musical at AKL.

It's nice to see a new ride that features high tech audio animatronics again, instead of just screens and projections.
Hopefully, they won't let the animatronics break down on this one and sit broken for years!:ROFLOL:

So they can create an amazing AI like this but they can't fix the Yeti that essentially just swoops an arm? I smell ________________.

Cue the fanboys with their million excuses now...

Whenever there is a positive thread celebrating Disney's successes, cue the half glass empty crowd to complain about something.

The problem with your complaint is that there is nothing wrong with the AA (not AI, this isn't the matrix) yeti itself but the construction around it is faulty. These are two completely different things.

I think your bitterness and your microwave era, 'gotta have it my way right away' mentality clouds you to the reality many of us except. I make no excuses, I except reality.

If it was just the AA that was malfunctioning this would probally be an easy fix. But to really fix the problem will take time to formulate the apprpriate solution and likely a lengthy shut down when the time comes which is problematic considering AK doesn't have much else.

I look at it this way, if they couldn't anticipate the issue, then fixing it will prove difficult.

I don't think we need to start worrying about her breaking. First of all, it's a dark ride, so she can't be disco-fevered in hopes that nobody will notice. Second, she may be large, but she isn't a few tons anchored to a steel and concrete structure with what I can only assume is a crapload of duct tape. If anything happens to her, she'll get fixed.

Not to mention Yeti was built in a giant structure on the swampy, soupy, shifting Florida topography. The Little Mermaid building and Ursula at DCA was built solidly on the dry Anaheim bedrock with 21st century computer-designed earthquake building codes, and at DCA she ain't going anywhere.

Now, what WDW does with their version of Mermaid and all its sophisticated effects with likely no rehab for years and years and questionable regular maintenance schedules, that's another story. Little Mermaid at DCA opens June, 2011 and I fully expect the first scheduled rehab for this ride to happen sometime in Fall, 2012 to keep the show standards and special effects at high standards.

Little Mermaid at WDW opens Fall, 2012 and the first scheduled rehab for the WDW version might not happen before the end of the decade.

But the effects and puppets are much better for the nemo show, and its' ride counterpart is mostly just projections. Compared to the early 90's looking VOTLM, With SUCH high tech, fluid, better animatronics on the new ride at MK, VOTLM will just look pathetic :/

They are actually building an Audioanimatronic. This is great news. I thought they stopped building them 10 years ago.

My biggest concern will be the skin on the AA. They talked about using stretchy velvet. Well, what happens when that tears? (As it will from hours of being stretched and un-stretched) In theory they should take the ride offline until it gets fixed, but judging by the fact that I have seen AA's missing whole parts of their props, I doubt that WDW will do this. So instead kids gets to see Ursula with a giant hole in her arm. Brilliant.....

Outside of that the AA itself looks amazing. Hopefully the rest of the ride is equally well done.

How's that dragon doing in DL Fantasmic?
Both east coast and west coast have their issues.

It would be nice if some of your posts wern't so pro-DL, anti WDW. I understand that you work at DL, but no need to constantly dump on WDW.

Incredible figure - really looking forward to seeing this in both versions of the attraction. This is one of the true Disney-only capabilities. No other theme park in the world has figures like this.
