I've ridden Fear Every Drop many times, and the drop is ALWAYS the same. It's not random drop yet. Ask anyone here that's been on Fear Every Drop more than 5 times. :) As for the computer you speak of, it's not programmed for random drops...yet.

I have to agree with you there. As far as I can see it is NOT random, there seems to have been the same sequence for a few years now actually.

the sequence is constant, it's the length of the drops that is variable. The Random Drop Sequence would involve both being variable.

Being a ToT addict, I can also assure you that it is NOT random. You may THINK it is because of the "thrill" factor causing you to not remember the exact drop sequence..but believe me..its always the same.

when you enter the drop shaft you do not always go up or down it is definatly different because I've ridden ToT back to back like 5 times. A cast member told me once that it was randomm, knowing how accurate cast member info is I rode the ride several times and each drop is not the same. You do not drop the same amount of times each ride. And I know it's not a thrill element involved because I've riden the ride close to 100 times.

I don't want to argue about this, but having lived in Orlando for a little over six months, I got to experience TOT plenty.

I could get an unlimited fastpass anytime I wanted to. I could bypass all the lines if certain people working there. I rode it over 300 times in 6 months.

It isn't random. They've had it down to try out a couple of other drops, but it is the same ride over and over and over again.

since the day it opened in 1994, I have never been on it where it did not start with a 7 to 8 story drop--of course in the original and Twice the Fright sequences, they used to have a light on the wall, whereas now it's in complete darkness...

It needs to be dark or it would kill the ride in my opinion.

I dont remember any lights on the wall in the ride, when I went in 1995....

When it first opened, the walls would light up as you rose up to the top, slowly. Then, the doors would open, revealing that you were at the top and about to drop. Then, when they changed it the first time, the lights would turn on and you'd drop immediately, then you'd be in darkness again, and rise up to the top. They haven't done that since 1996 or so.

Having ridden ToT 60+ times in a single day (told ya it was my favorite) I can STILL assure you that it is NOT random. It is EXACTLY the same each time...Each shaft is the same as well..nothing is different..yet

I never experienced the drop sequence where you slowly rose to the top. The first time I rode the Tower was about 8 months after it opened...that sequence must not have been their long. The lights turned on until 1999 when we got Fear Every Drop. If you watch old videos, you will see this.

I think it's had four versions:
-Original had one big drop
-Second had a half drop, then you shot to the top, dropped a floor, and then dropped to the bottom
-Third had a half drop, then you shot to the top, dropped to the bottom, rose to the 11th floor, and dropped to the bottom
-Current has half drop, then you shoot up to the top, drop two floors, go back to the top, drop to the bottom, rise halfway, see thunder as the elevator drops a couple floors, then you rise to the 12th floor, drop to the 11th, drop to the bottom, then rise to the 11th and immediately drop to the bottom.

Anyone know of any others?

Thats right, except, theres ALWAYS been the little 8 story drop when u enter the drop shaft, before rising up and doing the 13......but your list is right....and ive ridden it PLENTY in the last year, and its NOT RANDOM.....

They awalys needed that drop for the Picture.

I remember when it first opened, we all thought that one drop was great, now look at it. On the current Fear Every Drop, I love it, when you drop for the last time on the 11th floor how you are just floating in mid air when they shake your car. Its the neatest feeling LOL

I wish I lived closer to WDW:cry:

so wait...did it originally open with a half drop followed by a full drop? If that's the case, then there were only 3 sequences...again, I've only experienced three sequences...Tom Morrow said it originally didn't have the first 8-story drop, but rather you just slowly rose to the top--I never experienced this, but which is correct?

Nope, that was added in late 1995. I rode it shortly after it opened, so I know that is correct.

Heres the evolution of Tower of Terror:

Original: Elevator enters drop shaft, rises up slowly, drops a few feet, pauses, drops all the way, end.

2nd: 8 story drop when you enter the drop shaft is added, followed by the rest being the same.

3rd: 8 story drop, followed by 2 full drops.

4th: Similar to current configuration, but not as much shaking/false drops, etc

5th: The current drop configuration

6th (coming soon): Random drop sequence.
