New Tomorrowland @ Disneyland? Is this the year it finally gets announced? No, and that’s OK

The rollout and execution was abysmal, but I personally enjoy the final product once that all got squared away. I go into toontown a lot more than I used to.
I agree, a couple upgrades, a couple downgrades, probably a wash overall… the addition of MMRR makes Toontown a must visit every trip now though. Overall we find it an improvement.

I’d still rather wait for a new management team before they tackle Tomorrowland though, there’s a lot at stake and we’re going to be stuck with whatever they build there for the rest of our lives. If waiting a few more years means a better result I’m ok with waiting.

Possibly, but I imagine that there's a decent chance that wishing for a Tomorrowland redo in the current climate might result in a "be careful what you wish for" situation for many.
I find it sad that my reaction to most changes Disney Parks announce went from either excitement or missing what will be replaced yet optimistic it’ll be done well, to fearing any change because I don’t trust them to not make it worse. I hope it changes back to the former one day.

I suspect it’s the growing confidence in the upcoming retro Fantastic Four that prompted DL management to cancel this “minimal refurbishment” plan and to think bigger about TL.
I personally think they are waiting to see the overall reaction to the complete redo of TDLs SM and surrounding area which just started construction.

But yeah add in a splash of the retro futurism from whatever they do with FF, and they could merge both concepts together plus have the IP tie-in.

I'd take Cosmic Land with a land of Fantastic Four, Guardians, Star Wars, other intergalactic properties. Maybe they could even retheme Mission BO to the Spider-Man drop tower attraction planned for overseas and restore DCA's skyline a little.

That could work. Marvel does publish Star Wars comics now. Change Mission BO to a Doctor Strange Sanctum and make it really trippy. At least that way it would blend in.

I think this will be a great change for Tokyo, but it's not a change I want to see for Disneyland, nor is it one I think they would want to invest in. Millions of dollars to tear down and rebuild the same ride? Not enough of a benefit.

Ideally, Tomorrowlaก้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้้d would receive a 1970's/80's sci-fi aesthetic to unify it all around Space Mountain. This design language is just so satisfying.

Funny that you think it’s fine for TDL but not here.

Anyways I think it would work here too. And if they’re going to finally redo all of TL anyways might as well redo SM too and modernize it.

I always found that aesthetic to be so dated and bland growing up. I think TL needs to feel like a community rather than a world's fair or mall. That's why the west side of the park works so well, it feels like we are stepping into worlds whereas TL has always felt like stepping into an amusement park space. Or an old mall waiting for a facelift.

Isn't Tommorowland already stuck in the 80s design wise?

Tomorrowland does look like the old Sherman Oaks Galleria. I keep expecting Jennifer Jason Leigh to show up.

Which would be AWSOME!

Lol I’ve always loved that about it! Particularly the Space Mountain complex. I met Rob Schneider at the pet store there right after the Beverly Hillbillies movie came out. He told me “uh uh uh, I wouldn’t do that” when he saw me sticking my finger in the parrot cage. We used to see Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen there too. My sister actually went to Kindergarten with them. This is also the mall where I first fell in love with corn dogs at Hot Dog on a Stick. Saw more than a few movies at the weird little movie theatre they had right by the food court including Angels in the Outfield, Pocahontas and Free Willy. Got a few action figures at the Kaybee store. Ahhh the 80s/ early 90s.

Back when malls had more than clothes and aisle kiosks selling cell phone repair and shoe cleaning snake oil.

Take me back to the days of toy stores, music stores, magic shops, bookstores, novelty shops.
