Another theme park coming to the US?
Recently Announced:
DreamVision Soundscape Park Alabama
DreamVision Dreamscape Park Texas
Avatron Smart Park Atlanta

Funnily all three parks are in doubt:

So yeah, I wouldn't get your hopes up. I doubt any will have any effect on Disney unless they opened in Orlando or Anaheim.

Thanks for thoughts. I also think it won't have any impact on Disney's numbers since it isn't in Orlando, but if it happens and its as technology innovative and immersive as they say it would be interesting to visit and could produce something superior to something WDI has done as of late. Then, Diagon Alley has already done that.

A California based company has proposed a new theme park about 45 minutes north of Atlanta, but in the outer edge of the suburbs. It will be a 713 acre park with two hotels and music venue.

That's almost a 9 hour drive away from orlando. And 45 minutes north of Atlanta you aren't in the suburbs anymore, you're almost in TN. If Six Flags in Atlanta isn't competition for Disney, this one won't be either.

No.

In all likelihood this development is looking to tap into the visitors to the Bobby *** (former Atlanta Braves manager) baseball complex in Bartow. But as competition for WDW (or even Six Flags); not really....
It censored Bobby C O X... That's hilarious, and like someone already mentioned it sounds like a 700 acre Disney Quest, I'd bet if it's ever built its final size is around 5 acres :p Wait I missed the two hotels and music venue part, so 6 acres

A point to realize is that the vast majority of parks that are proposed, and even announced, never see the light of day.

They are great at keeping creatives and artists above water financially, but that's about it. If I had to throw out a number of parks that get announced and wind up built, then I'd peg it about 16%. Really.

None of the parks that were discussed in @AndyS2992 's post above are ever going to become reality. Realize that even the big boys often announce parks that don't happen.

Not to mention the fact your almost in South Carolina with just I slight lean toward the Northeast! I don't see it happening. The only way to really make something of that type work is to do like Disney did and build in a wide open space and let the area develop around it. Otherwise you have nothing but congestion (even more then the Orlando area) because the infrastructure is not designed for that type of traffic. But, that's just speculation on my part along with the belief that the thing that will be harmed the most out of a venture like that would be the wallet of the developer.

I hope all three parks get built. They look fun and I'm glad more theme parks rather then amusement parks are being created.
Even if they don't match Disney or uni they beat six flags by a mile. I'll probably enjoy them.
