new Star Wars-motion sickness

Since the new Star Wars ride now uses 3-D glasses, I was wondering if anyone is getting motion sickness?

I didn't get sick on the old ride and the 3D movies don't bother me but I do get sick on the Alladin ride at Disneyquest.

However, this ride combines the 3D with motion.

anyone?

Didn't bother me in the least, and I USED to get bothered by the original.

If the 3D is done well, it shouldn't bother you. If it's done poorly (Jaws III), it can mess with you.

The old Star Tours I could ride without any problem whatsoever no matter how many times I went on it in a row. I know, who would even want to, right? My youngest really loves Star Wars. :D The new Star Tours is awesome and I love it. However, I went on it twice in a row and I had to sit down with something cold to drink afterward while my guys kept going back. It's a lot more intense than the old version which isn't a bad thing. I'm just a wuss, I guess. My old bod can't do things the way it used to. I also have a 2-ride-in-a-row threashold for SM, E:E, RnRC, & ToT. I can only do M:S orange once every few hours. The tea cups I only will attempt once per trip as long as whoever is sharing a cup with me doesn't mind my holding the cup completely still against the momentum the thing wants to go.

I could ride the old attraction several times in a row without incident. However, the new configuration will get to me after only a couple of rides. That being said, I am mildly prone to motion sickness, so it was not all that surprising to me.

It's weird how the motion sickness thing has changed in the course of my lifetime. In my younger years I had zero problems with it ever. After I had my children I couldn't ride anything without feeling sick. 6-7 years down the road and I'm okay in moderation. I think it also is largely affected by my level of physical fitness. After the 2nd baby I carried 40+ excess lbs. from that pregnancy and I got motion sickness really easily. Once I lost the bulk of the excess and was in better cardiovascular health I did much better. I don't know if this is true for others but it's part of what I think affects my ability to handle the more intense attractions. Of course, even in good health it seems like as the years go by both the hubby and I are slowing down and not as able to tolerate things the way we once did. Still, it's hard to imagine a day we sit it out completely. We'll hold each other up while we puke just to say we did it.

Quite ironically, mine has gotten better with age. When I was a kid I could not even look at a Ferris wheel. Now the only thing that really gets me is when I can see myself spinning (eg tea cups). When that visual is removed (eg M:S) I am fine.

Very interesting. Hubby thinks I'm nuts because I swear I can feel the spinning on M:S. Maybe it's just the power of suggestion because I know how it's done but still, it's rough on me. The kids love to laugh because I sit there breathing so deep, in thru the nose / out thru the mouth, that they can hear me. I think they like riding that with me just so they can watch me and laugh.

I was always heavily prone to motion sickness as a child and an adult. The old SW ride and the new one made me sick as did the less intense Mission Space. I have had to swallow hard on Soarin and many other rides. Now here is the weird part.... I rode the intense version of MS about a year ago and other then a slight wave of nausea did not get sick. Since that time, I have not experienced any motion sickness on any rides. I have been back for 2 vacations (8 day and 6 day) and rode everything with no problems. Isn't that weird??????

Well, you're getting mixed results! :)

I never felt any motion sickness on the original Star Tours. My wife did, however, and now won't ride most motion based rides.

I went on Star Tours 2.0 in October for the first time and felt just a tiny bit queasy when I came off. Not enough to need to stop and sit but I felt it a little.

Then in February I did it again a couple of times with a friend of mine and both of us felt fine afterward.

Keep in mind, sometimes I do fine on M:S and other times I feel just a little off. But I can ride ToT and RnRC over and over and over, even alternating between the two and I never feel a thing (well, as far a motion sickness goes anyway).

It seems YRMV in this case...

Good luck!

NO problems with me or my son. We went back multiple times to get to see all the new scenes, but we both love coaster/ thrill type rides. I prepared my son for them at a young age by taking him on all the thrill rides at our local fairs since he was old enough to get on. Like father like son. :king:

My husband was green all day after riding but none of the rest of us ( 7 other people) were.. even the 5 year old was fine.

7 of us went on 4 times in a row and we were fine..lol

So was mine...of the perhaps 15 times we rode last trip he went on the first time, thought it was cool, but wouldn't go on again. He saw the Indy show a LOT that trip!

I got lucky last May and rode it 5 times in a row. There was zero wait so I just kept going on..honestly I think that whole "54 different ride sequences is crap. Unless they just didn't release them all yet. I probably rode it about 15 times while I was there and it kept repeating for the most part.

I didn't get motion sickness at all on it but then again..I enjoy it. :D

I rode the new ST to no end and only felt better every time! :sohappy:

Maybe I was getting high from dizzyness?

The 3D is the best I've ever seen, so not wearysome on the eyes and brain at all. A problem may be that the ride is more intense now (yay!).

Do they have an area where you can sit on Star Tours and not be in the motion simulator? I thought I read that somewhere and just wanted to double check.

I have terrible motion sickness and have my entire life. Strangely, I can handle rides that spin, like the teacups and that old fairground ride "The Scrambler! Weird

I have to admit it s*cks not being able to ride any of the roller coasters or motion simulators. I can ride Soarin, but get a little freaked when the row lifts. My dad (a doctor) tells me that it is pure anxiety and if I would just take a little Valium before I hit the parks, I'd be fine. Sure, a little Valium and I would fall asleep in the ride seat!

Kuddos to you guys that can ride everything.....I am very jealous. I spent my childhood trips to amusement parks waiting on benches for everyone. I guess that's part of the reason I love WDW so much--there are enough rides that I can handle and no sitting on benches!

I am not prone to motion sickness at all and the ride made me and my group a little queasy. We were in the back and I think that might have been the problem.

Never got bothered on the old version, but my friend and I recently rode it for the first time and both of us were queasy immediately after.

I won't be riding it again. I can do roller coasters all day, I've done my fair share of marathon sessions on some of the biggest in the world. But throw me in a motion simulator with 3-D glasses and recycled air, and I don't do too well.

Did it 5-6 times in a row two different trips. No problem. When I first did V1.0 the initial drop scared the stuffing out of me. I have trouble with the launch on M:S but that's it.

Apparently, the new Star Tours requires daily nausea/vomit tracking:
