New Star Wars live stage show coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios this Spring

To call this a "show" is an embarrassment. THIS is what they expect to fill guests desires while half the park is closed and while we all wait for Star Wars Land to open?

Lunch Bay at least has some props, meet-and-greets, and a shop with some unique items that you'd usually only see at Star Wars Weekends (although they should have made the shop as big as Watto's Grotto was).

Don't get me wrong, I am really excited for Star Wars Land in 2 to 15(?) years from now, but man do I miss Star Wars Weekends this year SO BADLY. Star Wars Weekends actually had good shows, parades, entertainment, actual Hollywood talent, unique food/drink/merchandise, and so much more.

I was there in March and the view down Hollywood was the Chinese Theater.

How is the view now with the stage? Has the Chinese Theater view been once again removed?

Oh dear. This is not what anyone was hoping for!

We all had high hopes. Whilst it was nice to see 3po and r2 tho not together?! I hope an m&g is on the cards with the three droids.

Please let SWL be waaay better than this. They seem to be killing HS to allow thee pheonix to rise in 2020.

Thanks for the post but may be one to miss come July.

One park had a SW Spectacular, TDL with Mickey's Space Fantasy back in t989:
Although, most of it was a version of Tokyo Disneyland Is Your Land with the SW gang. That wouldn't work in DHS. Maybe if SW ever got into MK.

This proves even more so that a Star Wars stage show is very hard to accomplish while trying to keep the characters in character. Notice how Star Wars characters just tend to be in the middle of everything most of the time rather than dance. While I can't speak Japanese, I think that the premise of this show is the Disney characters introducing the Star Wars characters to their lands and culture making it a bit more Disney centric than Star Wars centric. Its actually a pretty decent show. I think that the shows being at night as well as the fact that they never made their stage permantly in place and obnoxious like they did at MK make them more of an event. Also, because you forgot to put it up, here's part 2.

I guess they anticipated cancelled shows. They cancelled the 5:30 show and already had a pre-recorded spell for it.

God bless the "Ignore" button.

Well they were in soft openings today and I'm sure every show opens with a full set of prerecorded messages and plans to implement for any kind of contingency that comes up from day one.
Except for, apparently, the contingency to prevent 3PO go out and perform a dialogue with a non-existent R2-D2...

I miss Snig and Oopla so much. Still holding out hope that maybe once things settle down after SWL opens something like the Weekends will be back.
I'm hoping so too. That show appealed to Star Wars fans and non fans alike. It was just a fun time for everyone. I would look forward to it all year.

My bet is imagineering didn't have anything to do with this show at all. Seems more like an afterthought that was passed off to a marketing person.

Marketing is Imagineering's get out of jail card, isn't it? People love the giant hat, or the Star Wars Launch Bay, or Frozen in Norway? Thank the imagineers. People hate all that? Well it was forced on us by marketing!
