New Star Wars live stage show coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios this Spring

I just got off chat with a cast member inquiring about start dates for "Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular" and she informed me it debuts today. I had her confirm that this was a firework show and not the parade that also debuted today. I'm not very confident on her information but, just in case, has anyone else heard this too?
Very incorrect.

The only component of this that I do enjoy (at least from what I have seen online) is the stormtrooper march. That looks really impressive.

I think that the problem they face is that they are only really dealing with characters that are fully costumed (including their faces). It is hard to have actors stand in for people like Han or Luke or Rey as you clearly can tell it is not the actual people that portrayed those characters in the movies.

"Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular" is the new nighttime fireworks show, but it will not premier until later this summer. The current fireworks show is "Symphony in the Stars: A Galactic Spectacular"

Today is the official opening date of the stage show, "Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away", and the Stormtrooper march, which both previewed yesterday.

In the CM's defense, they all have stupid, meaningless names.

Tried once again to watch this. The first time I found myself half covering my face, peeking through fingers at it. This time around it seemed more like Disney was trying to put on a fashion show.

Some random thoughts:
  • Most exciting part is the screen being raised. (in another video)
  • The Storm troopers marching in were a nice touch, I know they're not the rockettes but they need better precision when turning. (By the way - during the storm trooper march, did anyone else hear the Elephant march song in their head from the Jungle book?)
Overall: It desperately needs a story line. Or, to salvage it they could at least put a couple of wise cracking storm troopers up to the side of the stage mocking the entire thing.

I'm having a hard time getting over the irony that Disney, notable one of the best story tellers of our time, couldn't put together a simple show with a plot here.

(Edited to remove the bullet point I was corrected on - thank you RAXIP)

The live part of the show starts off poorly: Why does C3PO introduce us to R2D2 but he never appears? It only sets us up for the rest of the show to be a fail along similar lines.
R2 had technical difficulties and was not able to make it on stage for that show.

Here's a 5-min edit of the show with only the character appearances:

That was kind of embarrassing... The only way I could see this working is as the "welcome show" for the new land. Kind of what they do (or used to do) at MK early in the morning. But... a stand alone "show"? multiple times a day? .... o_O:cautious:

Thank you for that info, as R2 was at the end I thought he was omitted by design.

Unfortunately, he doesn't improve the rest of the fashion show though.

Not going to watch it 'till I go there in May.
Regardless of how bad this may be, things like this are always better when seen in person - and in my case, with my kids.
Even the good shows - Jedi Training, and really good shows - Flights of Wonder lose a lot on video.

Even the 5 min edited version of this is as bad....I'm still expecting to see this at the end..

Imagine when Star Wars Land opens and for Christmas they will have a Christmas themed Star Wars stage show.
